2 Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program The AINP is an economic immigration program operated by the Government of Alberta Ministry of Jobs, Skills, Training and Labour in partnership with the Government of Canada s department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). The program has been designed to support Alberta s economic growth by attracting and retaining work-ready immigrants to the province.. 2

3 Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program Individuals nominated by the Province of Alberta, together with their spouse and dependent children, are eligible to apply for a permanent resident visa through CIC as a Provincial Nominee. Under this program, Provincial nominees qualify for expedited permanent resident application processing by CIC.. 3

4 AINP Stream Summary Employer-Driven Stream Employer and candidate apply together Includes Skilled and Semi-skilled occupations Also includes an International Graduate Category Employer and candidate criteria must be met Strategic Recruitment Stream Candidates apply directly to the AINP Education, skills, and work experience criteria Self-Employed Farmer Stream Candidates who wish to develop a farming business in Alberta Have the experience and the resources to invest 4

11 2013 AINP Employer-Driven Stream (EDS) Statistics of Interest 2013 AINP - EDS Nominee Statistics Average age of an EDS nominee was 33 years old 74% of the nominees were male, 26% female 74% of the nominees were nominated under NOC codes that were Skilled (0, A, B), and 26% that were Semi-Skilled (NOC C and D) Average time between the date an EDS nominee s application was received by the AINP and the date their nomination certificate was issued was 37 days Observed EDS Nominee CIC Processing Times In 2013, the average time between the date a nomination was issued by the AINP and the date the individual was landed (obtained permanent residence) was 539 days (approximately 18 months) The shortest period of time between nomination by the AINP and landing was 131 days (approximately 4 months) 11

13 AINP Application Processing Current Status: On-track to reach the 2014 nomination target cap of 5,500 nominations in December Current inventory of 10,000 applications Processing times are posted on our website: albertacanada.com/opportunity/immigrating/ainpprocessing-times.aspx Going Forward: 2015 CIC allocation nomination cap for the AINP has yet to be announced Implications of the introduction of the federal Express Entry Program in January
