Press and hold any button at the top of the SMART LINKING CONTROL Outlet. After holding the button for 5 seconds the LED will begin to flash, this means it is transmitting its ID. Continue holding the button until programming is complete. At the same enter the Add Equipment menu on the SMART LINKING CONTROL LCD Remote. While searching for a SMART LINKING CONTROL Unit that is transmitting its ID this menu will display the text Searching For Units and a rotating icon. When a unit has been found and programmed in this menu will display the type of unit that has been detected. The SMART LINKING CONTROL LCD Remote will detect the type of unit that is transmitting its ID and will program in all functions of that unit. When a unit is programmed into the SMART LINKING CONTROL LCD Remote, its functions, excluding group functions and macro functions, will be added to the first vacant position on the favourites menu. Group functions and Macro functions can be added to the favourites menu manually using the edit favourites menu. When the unit has been detected by the SMART LINKING CONTROLS LCD Remote the programming procedure is complete. The new unit should now be displayed on the favourites menu and can be turned on or off the activate button. The outlets can also be renamed to represent the device they are controlling. SMART LINKING CONTROL LCD REMOTE Product Description The SMART LINKING CONTROL LCD REMOTE is a battery powered, water resistant, hand-held remote that controls up to 16 x SMART LINKING CONTROL 2 Channel 10A Outlets, 16 x SMART LINKING CONTROL 15A Outlets and 5 x SMART LINKING CONTROL Controllers including all of the Controller functions such as solar, macro functions and group functions. LCD Display and Menu Options At the top left corner of the screen is a signal strength indicator. This displays the average strength of the signal from the past 4 received messages. If the SMART unit you are attempting to communicate with is turned off, so there is no signal from that unit, the signal strength indicator may still show a strong signal as it is still receiving from other units in the SMART network. The top right corner displays a battery level indicator. o AAA alkaline batteries are nominally 1.5V. 3 x AAA alkaline batteries will show the battery level indicator as fully charged. o AAA rechargeable batteries are nominally 1.2V and so 3 x AAA rechargeable batteries will show the battery level indicator as half charged even when the batteries are fully charged

3 7) 6) Programming the SMART Remote Before any functions can be controlled with the SMART LINKING CONTROL LCD Remote, they must first be programmed into the remote. To do this the remote must be in program mode while the function you wish to control is transmitting its ID. Please read the section for the relevant unit for instructions on how to transmit a units ID. Unlike the SMART LINKING CONTROLS 8 CH Basic Remote, where individual functions are programmed in, the SMART LINKING CONTROLS LCD Remote identifies the type of unit that is transmitting its ID and programs in all functions relevant to that unit. For example if a 2 Channel 10A Outlet is transmitting outlet 1, the SMART LINKING CONTROL LCD Remote will detect the type of unit and both outlet 1 and 2 will be programmed in. To put the remote into program mode from the main menu highlight the Add Equipment sub-menu and press the right arrow. The Add Equipment menu will display the message Searching For Units and a rotating icon to indicate the remote is in program mode and ready to receive a SMART ID. When a SMART ID has been received and programmed in, the remote will display a message indicating which type of ID has been received. For example the remote might say 2x10A Outlet Unit Added. Pressing the left arrow button will return to the main menu. Setup Remote This sub-menu displays the firmware version currently installed and provides the option of a Factory Reset, When Factory Reset is selected a confirmation screen is displayed. If the activate button is then pressed the unit will delete all programmed data and return to the original state. Version 1 Factory Reset Factory Reset Remote? Operation To turn the remote on press any button. The remote will automatically turn off after 7 seconds. To turn a SMART function on or off from the favourites menu use the up and down arrows to highlight the function and press the activate button to switch it on or off. The left and right buttons can be used to enter and exit menus. The function of each menu is described above.

4 3) 4) Favourites Menu When the remote first comes on the favourites menu is displayed. This menu provides quick and easy access to the most commonly used functions (Maximum 32 favourites). Highlighting a function and pressing the activate button will switch the function on or off. Favourite 1 ON Favourite 2 OFF Favourite 3 OFF Favourite 4 When a SMART unit is programmed into the remote it is automatically added to the first vacant position in the favourites menu. This can be changed at any time using the Edit Favourites menu. Use the up and down arrows to scroll the menu up and down and highlight a favourite. The activate button will turn the highlighted favourite on or off. The right arrow will enter the main menu. Level 2 After an equipment type has been selected a list of functions in the unit type category is shown on this menu. Use the up and down arrows to scroll the menu up and down and highlight a function. Pressing the activate button will activate the highlighted function. Function 1 Function 2 Function 3 Function n Pressing the right arrow will activate the function if no sub-menus are present. If there is a sub-menu the right arrow will enter the sub-menu. The left arrow will exit this sub-menu and return to the access equipment menu. The main menu provides a choice of 6 sub-menus. Use the up and down arrows to scroll the menu up and down and highlight a sub menu. The activate button or the right arrow will enter the highlighted sub menu. The left arrow will exit the main menu and return to the favourites menu. Add Equipment Rename Equipment Edit Favourites Remove Equipment Add Equipment When this menu is selected the remote will search for units that are transmitting their ID. Pressing the activate or right button will cancel the search for units. The left arrow will exit the menu and return to the main menu. Searching for Units / The menu provides a choice of equipment types that can be accessed or modified. Controller 2x10A Outlets 15Amp Outlets Use the up and down arrows to highlight an equipment type. The activate button or the right arrow will select the highlighted equipment type. The left arrow will exit this menu and return to the previous menu, which can be the main menu, edit favourites menu or rename menu. Rename Equipment Level 2 After selecting this sub-menu the user must select an equipment type from the access equipment menu, followed by the function they wish to rename from the access equipment level 2 menu Current Name New Unit New Name Pool Pump When the entire word is highlighted the up and down arrows will cycle through the library of available words. When an individual letter is highlight the up and down arrows will cycle through the available letters, numbers and symbols. The left and right arrows will select the letter/word that is highlighted. The activate button will accept the new name.

5 5) Edit Favourites Level 2 This menu allows any of the favourites to be replaced with any function currently programmed into the SMART LINKING CONTROL LCD Remote. When this sub-menu is selected a list of the current favourites will be displayed. This will appear the same as the first menu but with the difference that when the right Favourite 1 ON Favourite 2 OFF Favourite 3 OFF Favourite 4 ON arrow is pressed the list of equipment types will be displayed, followed by equipment functions. When a function is then selected by pressing the right arrow it will replace the selected favourite on the favourites menu. Use the up and down arrow to scroll the menu up and down and to highlight a favourite. The activate button will activate the selected favourite. The right arrow will select the favourite to be replaced and the access equipment menu will be displayed, followed by the access equipment level 2 menu. When a function is selected with the right arrow it will replace the highlighted favourite. The left arrow will exit the sub-menu. Remove Equipment Level 2 With this menu any unit currently programmed into the SMART LINKING CONTROL LCD Remote can be removed. After selecting this menu option the access equipment menu will be displayed, followed by the access equipment level 2 menu. The activate button will activate the highlighted function. The right arrow will remove the highlighted function. The left arrow will exit the sub-menu.
