The Memorial's purpose is to commemorate the sacrifice of those Australians who have died in war. 3 Nominal Rolls The Department of Veterans' Affairs publishes nominal rolls covering conflicts in which Australia has participated since Federation. These nominal rolls list members of Australia's defence forces who served during a particular conflict. Boer War Nominal Roll This Australian War Memorial database includes details of personnel in Australian units during the Boer War Website: WW1 Nominal Roll This Australian War Memorial database contains the service details of around 324,000 personnel who served with the AIF during WW1. Website: WW2 Nominal Roll This database includes details of the more than one million people who served in the Australian Forces or the Merchant Navy during WW2. Website: Korean War Nominal Roll This database includes details of the men and women of the Defence Forces who served in Korea or in the waters off Korea between 17 June 1950 and 19 April Certificates of war service can be printed. Website: Vietnam Veterans Nominal Roll This database includes details of the men and women of the Australian Defence Force who served in Vietnam or in the waters off Vietnam between 23 May 1962 and 29 April It includes commemorative details for each of the war dead. 4 War Graves Information Commonwealth War Graves Commission The "Debt of Honour Register" is the Commission's database listing the 1.7 million men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died during the two world wars and the 23,000 cemeteries, memorials and other locations worldwide where they are commemorated.
