2 These are usually plant and animal species that originated from other continents, and that are displacing native plants and animals. The Houston area streams and habitats have been hard hit, and we are losing more and more native diversity and habitat quality. Our coastal prairies and woodlands have been overrun with Chinese Tallow and others. Chinese Privet and Ligustrum form allelopathic exclusion zones underneath, and they produce fruit that is poisonous to mammals. We need to remove invasive, exotic problem species from as much of our public and private land as possible.

12 1. Kill in Place Method for Medium to Large Shrubs and Trees: Eliminate the cutting down step from the process. Expose the cambium layer on the lower trunk and root buttress with a machete and treat with herbicide. (See Picture) 2. Very Small Plants: These can be carefully sprayed or hand pulled. 3. Aquatic, Invasive, Exotic Plants: Must be treated with an aquatic plant herbicide.

13 Aquaneat Glyphosate based herbicide for aquatic use on Elephant Ears, Yellow Iris, and other invasive, exotic aquatic plants that are encountered in the aquatic zone. This will be mixed with Aqua King Aquatic Surfactant and Turf Mark Blue, Blue Dye. Relegate Triclopyr based herbicide is the main ingredient for use on tree and shrub stumps, and root buttresses out of the aquatic zone. This will be mixed with a lesser amount of Roundup or Equivalent (Glyphosate), and then mixed with Drexel Surf Ac 80 Surfactant and Turf Mark Blue, Blue Dye. This can also be sprayed directly on foliage, under the right conditions. These herbicides are applied with a pump-up sprayer and they do not require an Herbicide Applicator s License.
