1 Beading Classes Fall 2015 Caravan Beads 915 Forest Ave Portland ME x211 Basic Finishing Techniques: $25.00 (plus cost of materials) Instructor: Staff Tuesday September 1st (6-8pm) With an emphasis on technique, this class is a great overview for those with limited beading experience. You will learn to finish projects using beading wire, memory wire, elastic, and leather or satin cord. Complete three different types of bracelets and one necklace during the class time. 1 adult 1x memory wire bracelet 1 ft.5 mm elastic cord 1 ft C-flex beading wire 1.5 ft of leather or satin cord 3 crimp beads 2 coils or crimp ends 2 clasp sets 1 tube size 6/0 seed beads (for color variety choose a seed bead mix) 1 charm with jump ring accent beads of your choice

2 Basic Earrings: $25.00 (includes materials) Instructor: Staff Tuesday September 8th (6-8pm) This is a great class for the beginning beader. Learn to make basic earrings, linked earrings, and wire wrapped earrings. A small selection of beads as well as base metal findings are included in the class fee. If you have metal sensitivity you may want to purchase your own earwires ahead of time. You are also welcome to purchase or bring your own beads to work with.

3 Knotting with Silk: $25.00 (plus cost of materials) Instructor: Melissa Barber Tuesday September 15th (6-8pm) Learn to knot between pearls or semiprecious beads. Re-string the pearls you already have, or begin a new project. This technique can also be used to create spaces between your beads, making a "floating bead" necklace. 1 strand of pearls or semiprecious beads 1 card Griffin silk (ask for help with size) 2 bead tips 1 clasp set Fine tip knotting tweezer

5 Tree of Life Pendant: $25.00 (plus cost of materials) Instructor: Molly Garson Tuesday September 29th (6-8pm) The "Tree of Life" is a universally found motif symbolizing interconnection of life forms, knowledge, and consciousness. In this class students will learn to craft a small pendant out of wire and beads in the shape of the Tree of Life. 9 Helios Earrings: $25.00 (plus cost of materials) Instructor: Melissa Barber Tuesday October 27th (6-8pm) This class is perfect for anyone looking to try their hand at beadweaving. These earrings feature Miyuki s Half Tila beads and are an original design by instructor Melissa Barber. Quick to make, these earrings will be a new favorite! 1 tube Miyuki HTL (Half Tila bead) 1 tube Miyuki DB (size 11 Delica bead) 2 tubes Miyuki 15/0 seed beads (or one tube of mixed colors) 2 6mm round beads (Swarovski crystals or Swarovski pearls suggested) 1 spool of Miyuki thread 1 package of thin beading needles 2 clam shell bead tips (with hook) 2 earwires Fine tip beading tweezers

12 All classes are held Tuesday nights from 6-8pm (unless otherwise noted). The cost for each class is $25 plus the cost of materials. Please call to reserve your spot! The store phone is x211. If you need any assistance in selecting your materials we are happy to assist you prior to the class time. To reserve a space in a class you must pay the $25 class fee before class time. If you cannot attend a class please cancel 24 hours in advance and we will be happy to give you a credit for another class or merchandise. Please note that all basic techniques such as earrings, necklaces, bracelets, etc. are still taught free of charge any time during our regular store hours. We reserve the right to cancel a class if our minimum number of three students is not met.
