5 Area Intervention Partners Outreach Beneficiaries CHILDREN & YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME Children & Youth Residential support Individual Donors, Embassy of Ireland, Swiss Foundation, The Community Foundation of Ireland, Give India 277 children have been provided with free nutritious food, shelter, clothes, medical services and tuition in the evening Evening study centres and Nutritional supplement. Educational Material Support Joe Homan Charity, Give India, Language in Group, Global Giving 7700 children were provided with free tuitions, educational supplies and nutritional supplement in the form of peanuts, dates, etc. Children enjoyed the pride of going to school with the educational kit comprising of uniform, school bag, note books, stationery, inner wear and foot wear. Ministry of Labour & Employment MES Courses in life skill training offered to very poor and less educated students. Skill Training Useful School Kit : Over 500 poor school children have been presented with educational kit comprising of stationery, toiletries, school bag, uniform, inner wear and footwear. Solar lamp distribution : Regular Nutritional Support Supplementary nutrition, shelter, clothes, education and medical services provided at our Residential Community Centre Solar lamps are also distributed to poor children who don t have electricity in their houses. The children use it during their study hours and this helps them complete their work on time. Modular Employable Skills English coaching class by native language speakers : We invite volunteers from Language in Group, Dublin to help our children improve their language level. They adopt the play way method and coach the children efficiently Evening Study Centres - ESCs ESCs help in retaining the children in school by assisting them with their homework completion and learning of daily lessons. Besides regular tuition they are also provided with supplementary nutrition, free life skills, educational materials, sports activities, etc. Skill training Courses are offered to students who are poor and less educated. Such skill training courses will ensure enhancement in their employment opportunities and improve their livelihood.
6 Area Intervention Partners Outreach Beneficiaries WOMEN EMPOWERMENT & SKILL TRAINING Formation of women self help groups Women Providing skill training Tamil Nadu Women Development Cooperation, Nationalized Banks, MFI Institution Tamil Nadu Women Development Cooperation, IOB, Global Ford International Grant 752 Self Help Groups (SHGs) were formed and 9948 women sensitized through training programme - Health, Enterprise, savings, micro credit, bank services. Around 5860 women were provided with training in tailoring, embroidery and other skill trainings to help them become skilled labourers and seek better job opportunities in the years ahead SHG members honoured for efficient work in SHG work Financial support through micro credit activities extended to women Self Help Groups Encouragement of women to participate in local government elections, legal aid awareness programmes extended to SHG members Free skill training Free skill trainings in tailoring, gem polishing, embroidery, silk weaving, machine handloom, synthetic gem polishing, handicrafts like greetings cards, plastic wire bags, honey bee production, vermi composting, banana fibre extraction, cattle rearing, soap making, azolla cultivation, etc. Income generation activities Women communities have fit themselves as small scale entrepreneurs like vegetable / fruit vendors, tailors, mat weavers, producing camphor, candle, incense sticks, match box manufacturing, preparation and distribution of snacks, charcoal manufacturing, making of wire baskets, flower shop, petty shop, etc.
7 Area Intervention Partners Outreach Beneficiaries COMMUNITY, HEALTH, WATER & SANITATION PROGRAMME Health Working with People living with HIV/AIDS Nutritional support Awareness on Tuberculosis (TB) Water & Sanitation Give 2 Asia, Becton,Dickinson &Co, USA, Tamilnadu Voluntary Health Association, Chennai Individual Donors, Give India REACH AXSHYA - 1 Coordinates the activities of members living with HIV AIDS in prevention & treatment, care and support, formation of Red Ribbon Club (RRC). Monthly Nutritional kit provided to HIV AIDS infected / affected children to improve their physical health. Awareness on the access of TB Care and control is oriented to the community. Supply of bio sand water filters to ensure community with safe drinking water, awareness on environmental sanitation and key hygienic behaviour. Bio Sand Water Filters which can remove up to 99% of bacteria & viruses, and further eliminates worms, parasites, amoebae, protozoa, metals, and arsenic, providing safe water. The Behavior Change focuses on facilitating and encouraging healthpromoting behaviors - at various levels, from an individual s behavior, to practices at the household, school, community and agency levels Swearing in Programme to Combat HIV/AIDS honoured by the Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr.Sethuraman One-hand-rice scheme was initiated by SHG members. Each member collected a hand of rice every month and this was contributed to PLWHA members to help them reduce their financial liability. General awareness on sanitation and hygienic practices, toilet usage imparted to tutors and children at our Evening Study Centres, Menstrual hygiene awareness to adolescents. T.B Awareness Programme to the community through 65 Grama Kalyan Samiti (GKS) and Community Meetings. People with infection are referred to nearby DMCs. Awareness on the access of TB care and control by way of wall paintings on School compound walls, public places, Balwadi school compounds, library, water tanks, etc. in around 12 Evening Study Center villages. Signature Campaign awareness to general public on HIV- AIDS. The board had collected around 500 signatures from people who stopped with curiosity to learn what s put up.
8 Area Intervention Partners Outreach Beneficiaries SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE / TRAINING Formation of farmers federation Farmers Training programmes Farmers Field School (FFS) FFS programmes were conducted to equip the farmers with advanced agronomic practices NABARD Formation of Farmers Federation Club with 216 members. Training & vocational skill programmes to members. Indo Global Social Service Society (IGSSS), New Delhi Green Fodder production in the fields of 120 farmers, purchase of milch cows for 89 farmers, Goats (25 units/25 farmers). A Fodder Production Unit and Cooperative Tools Centre were set up. 3 villages adopted for Livestock Farming System. Agriculture Man & Ecology Foundation (AMEF) Farmer Field Schools were formed & farmers were trained on Systematic Rice Intensification (SRI). Hand in Hand (HIH), Trichy Training to farmers on SRI Techniques External activities in collaboration with Agriculture Man & Ecology Foundation (AMEF) to improve the livelihood of small & marginal dry land farmers.. Veterinary camp was conducted at Iynthinai where cattle were treated for various diseases, artificially inseminated, and drugs and tablets were provided to 120 goats. Various trainings on organic inputs, tree plantation and water shed management, production of fodder, coir pith; enriched farm yard manure, vermi composting, liquid organic pesticides and manures, Concentrated Fodder functional usage of cattle, etc. were imparted to the farmers Hand In Hand Training trained the farmers federation club members on SRI Techniques and they presented hopeful results in their fields
