2 Jesmonite is a versatile range of water-based composite materials ideally suited to the creation of moulded glass reinforced laminates and decorative mouldings. Jesmonite has a range of unique properties, which contribute to its strength, durability, non-toxicity, and its ability to comply with many of the necessary test requirements of the construction industry, specifically those in regard to fire performance and impact resistance. Over the last fifteen years, Jesmonite has been extensively tested and approved for use in the construction industry and has been used on many notable contracts. These include Canary Wharf, Celtic Manor, Blue Water Shopping Mall, and most recently the Bull Ring in Birmingham. Water based Surface Finishes Fire resistant Solvent free Safe Jesmonite can be used with a huge variety of decorative fillers and pigments to replicate an extensive range of materials including metals, stone, wood, and leather. In fact if a material has a surface texture, Jesmonite can reproduce it. Tersus Ltd, the manufacturers of the material, also offer a bespoke matching service whereby the Architect or Product Designer can supply samples of materials that can then be replicated. The same service is also offered if colour matches are required to match a design scheme. Design Environmentally Friendly Because of the materials excellent strength to weight ratio when used as a glass reinforced laminate the designer is given greater freedom to produce larger panels, even incorporating complex and fine detail. When this is considered in combination with the ease of fixing, Jesmonite can be seen as a major step forward in pushing back the boundaries of established design limitations. Toy Safe Health & Safety Approved Maintenance The surface finish of Jesmonite is extremely durable and will withstand aggressive use in public areas (shopping trolleys, floor cleaners etc.). The material can be coated with a sealer for durability and ease of cleaning, or treated with anti-graffiti coatings, which allow for the removal of paint, marks, pens etc. In normal maintenance the material can be simply washed with detergents and water, or if required with stronger substances such as solvents, without detriment to the surface finish.
