Refer to Disabling the SIR System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause air bag deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs. Remove the IP compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console. Remove the right sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console. Remove the DIM module from the bracket. Refer to Instrument Panel Module Replacement in Body Control System. Remove the rear two DIM module bracket screws. Reposition the DIM module bracket to gain access to the air inlet actuator.

2 Document ID: Page 2 of 4 Remove the air inlet actuator retaining screws (1). Remove the electrical connector from the air inlet actuator. Remove the air inlet actuator.

3 Document ID: Page 3 of 4 Installation Procedure Install the air inlet actuator. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

4 Document ID: Page 4 of 4 Install the air inlet actuator retaining fasteners (1). Tighten Tighten the fasteners to 1.4 Nm (12 lb in). Install the electrical connector to the air inlet actuator. Position the DIM module bracket to its original position. Install the rear two DIM module bracket retaining screws. Tighten Tighten the fasteners to 1.4 Nm (12 lb in). Install the DIM module into the bracket. Refer to Instrument Panel Module Replacement in Body Control System. Install the right sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console. Install the IP compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console. Recalibrate the actuators. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console. Remove the driver air mix actuator retaining fasteners (1). Remove the electrical connector from the driver air mix actuator.

Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console. Remove the electrical connector from the passenger air mix actuator (2). Remove the passenger air mix actuator (2) retaining fasteners (1).

9 Document ID: Page 2 of 3 Remove the passenger air mix actuator (1). Installation Procedure Install the passenger air mix actuator (1) to the HVAC module.

Tighten Tighten the fasteners (1) to 1.4 Nm (12 lb in). Install the electrical connector to the passenger air mix actuator (2). Install the IP storage compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console. Recalibrate the actuators. Remove the instrument panel carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauge., and Console. Important: The left air temperature actuator does not need to be removed in order to remove the mode actuator. The left air temperature actuator is removed in the graphic in order to show the screw locations. Remove the mode actuator retaining screws (1). Remove the mode actuator.

12 Document ID: Page 2 of 3 Note the position of the door levers to the cam. The mode door levers must be in the same position in order to reassemble the mode actuator to the HVAC case. Installation Procedure The mode door levers must be in the this position in order to reassemble the mode actuator to the HVAC case. Lubricate the pivots on the mode door levers and the channels on the mode actuator cam before assembling.

13 Document ID: Page 3 of 3 Align the mode door levers with the cam slots, as noted on disassembly. Install the mode actuator to the HVAC module. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section. Install the mode actuator retaining screws (1). Tighten Tighten the screws to 1.4 Nm (12 lb in). Install the instrument panel carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauge., and Console. Re-calibrate the actuators. Refer to Actuator Recalibration General Motors. All rights reserved.

Refer to Disabling the SIR System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause air bag deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs. Remove the Auxiliary Blower Motor and IP Support Bracket assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Auxiliary Blower Motor Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning. Remove the fasteners (1) from the rear HVAC extension duct (2) in order to remove both halves of the extension duct (2) from the rear HVAC assembly. Remove both halves of the extension duct (2) from the rear HVAC assembly.

15 Document ID: Page 2 of 6 Remove the fasteners (1) which retain the rear HVAC assembly (2) to the center support bracket. Remove the auxiliary blower motor assembly (1) from the IP center support bracket (2).

16 Document ID: Page 3 of 6 Remove the electrical connector (2) from the rear mode actuator. Remove the three fasteners (1) from the rear mode actuator. Remove the rear mode actuator (1) from the blower motor assembly (2).

17 Document ID: Page 4 of 6 Installation Procedure Position the rear mode actuator (1) in place on the rear blower motor assembly (2). Install the rear mode actuator fasteners (1). Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

18 Document ID: Page 5 of 6 Tighten Tighten the fasteners (1) to 1.4 Nm (12 lb in). Connect the rear mode actuator electrical connector (2). Install the blower motor assembly (1) to the IP center support bracket (2). Install the fasteners (1) that retain the rear HVAC blower motor assembly (2) to the IP center support bracket. Tighten Torque fasteners to 2 Nm (18 lb in).

19 Document ID: Page 6 of 6 Install both halves of the rear extension duct (2) to the rear HVAC assembly. Install the fasteners in order to hold the rear extension duct to the rear HVAC assembly. Tighten Torque fasteners to 1.4 Nm (12 lb in). Install the Auxiliary Blower Motor and IP Center Support Bracket assembly into the vehicle. Refer to Auxiliary Blower Motor Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning. Recalibrate the actuators.
