INTRODUCTION For the last 10 years, Hardscape Resourcing Ltd. has been at the forefront of stabilised gravel reinforcement. Initially this activity was as main distributor for the leading European producer a relationship continues to this day. While the process was originally developed in Holland over 25 years ago, experience in the UK market and customer feedback led to the introduction of StableDRIVE and StablePATH, which were specifically designed to meet particular needs: StableDRIVE to give greater lateral restraint for more intense vehicular applications, and StablePATH to provide a truly permeable pathway system that is free-draining, low-maintenance, and cost-effective to install. Both of these products were developed by HRL in the UK from fully recycled and recyclable raw materials. The principal benefits of stabilised gravel are increasingly valued as greater emphasis on sustainability and maximum recyclability has become essential to modern construction. SUDS and BREEAM friendly Fully permeable pavement layer Contained natural gravel surface No sinking, rutting, or gravel migration Honeycomb invisible after construction Load-bearing with low maintenance requirements. STABILISED GRAVEL PAVING PROVIDES A NATURAL ALTERNATIVE TO RESIN BONDED, ASPHALT AND OTHER BOUND SURFACES. or sales@ F: www.
StableDRIVE A NATURAL, ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY, PERMEABLE PAVEMENT SOLUTION WHAT IS IT? StableDRIVE is a purpose-designed honeycomb structure for the stabilisation, containment, and reinforcement of natural gravel surfaces. It can be used in both pedestrianised areas and in vehicular paved surface. StableDRIVE is produced in modules of 1.18mtr x 0.944mtr x 32mm deep (1.1sq metres per panel). WHAT DOES IT DO? StableDRIVE provides a free-draining, permeable paving layer which prevents rutting, restricts gravel migration, and can withstand compressive loading up to 280 tonnes per square metre. It can also accommodate small-wheeled, maintenance or utility equipment, and is wheelchair-friendly. BREEAM COMPATABILITY StableDRIVE is manufactured in the UK, using 100% UK-sourced recycled materials, and is 100% recyclable. This leads to an ultra-low carbon footprint in production, use, and disposal. When used with traditional, local natural aggregates, this system offers a significant contribution to beneficial BREEAM ratings relating to the landscaping and external works around your building. That contribution can be further increased by the incorporation of recycled aggregates or the inclusion of other recycled materials. SUDS CONTRIBUTION: Even with a traditional compacted sub-base, StableDRIVE creates a free-draining permeable paving layer which (other than in the most extreme rainfall conditions) eliminates water run-off. This contributes to reduced demand for surface-water drainage: The system can be used as part of a fully-permeable pavement construction, establishing a stable top-layer over a purpose-designed permeable drainage layer, or over a water-harvesting installation. or sales@ F: www.
StablePAVE 40 A NATURAL, ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY, PERMEABLE PAVEMENT SOLUTION StablePAVE 40 is an excellent choice for residential application, suitable for light vehicle and pedestrian use as well as occasional access for heavy duty emergency, utility or delivery vehicles. Providing a free-draining, permeable paving layer, StablePAVE 40 panels are easily cut to shape, making the system simple to install. The panels contain, control, and stabilise gravel, preventing migration, sinking and rutting without puddles, flooding, or slipping: All the beauty of natural gravel without any of the normal problems. Panel dimensions of 2.400mtr x 1.200mtr x 40mm, complete with a weed-suppressant membrane attached to the base, ensure fast, cost-effective installation with minimal disruption during construction. Gravel demand is 75kg per square metre, burying the honeycomb to the correct depth, making StablePAVE 40 an economic option. Risk of ingrained dirt or environmental contamination is eliminated, ensuring that the attractive gravel appearance can be permanently maintained with minimal upkeep. The final result is a firm, user-friendly surface comfortable underfoot, accommodating to wheelchairs, and robust enough to cope with normal residential traffic. or sales@ F: www.
StablePATH A NATURAL, ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY, PERMEABLE PAVEMENT SOLUTION StablePATH is a truly permeable pavement system which uses a combination of gravel stabilisation honeycombs, StableEDGE flexible aluminium edge restraints, and a specially selected and graded decorative aggregate infill. The StablePATH system allows for standard widths of between 0.80 metres and 4.8 metres without cutting, but cutting the panels to fit nonstandard dimensions is simple and inexpensive. StablePATH is equally cost-effective on both curved and straight pavement constructions. This system offers a very competitive SUDS and BREEAM-friendly pavement option, where attractive natural finishes blend into the landscape enhancing both the pavement and its surroundings. Cross Section Detail or sales@ F: www.
StablePATH PAVEMENT FINISHES: Special blends for individual client requirements can be produced to order on request. Brora Shingle Jura Gold Highland Silver Springburn Red Flamenco Honey NOTES: In most applications, a standard type 1 base would be required. However, the system can also be used with a permeable sub-base construction where fully designed permeable drainage or rainwater harvesting is sought: In this case, the stabilised pavement layer forms part of the permeable capacity calculation. It is possible to use the system on lightly compacted earth, or even relatively un-compacted soil/grit mixtures where necessary if anticipated loadings in use are light (For example in tree surrounds or woodland walkway construction where excavation is either impractical or undesirable). In those situations, deviation from a flat surface can be accommodated by the system. or sales@ F: www.
StableEDGE FLEXIBLE ALUMINIUM EDGE RESTRAINTS. StableEDGE edging restraints provide an unobtrusive and easily installed system for determining the perimeters of pathways, parking areas, courtyards, and hard standings. Flexible enough to create smooth, flowing curves as well as straight lines, and strong enough to cope with mechanical compaction of adjacent materials, StableEDGE restraints offer a productive, cost-effective, and attractive solution to any bound surface. The concept is an elegant edge detail solution suitable for use with: Standard Asphalt Coloured Asphalt, including for use in the segregation of colours Resin bound and resin bonded surfaces Self binding pathway mixes Stabilised gravel systems Poured rubber toppings Depth: No of Lengths Metre run per pk. 18 mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm or sales@ F: www.

SUB BASE GUIDELINES Stabilised gravel honeycomb elements should be placed on suitable, compacted previously constructed sub base (see below for sub base options) Sub base should receive a lightly compacted blinding layer of up to mm of grit sand or limestone/granite fines. Units should be bedded onto blinded surface, in a flat layer, to a slight fall if required. Stabilised gravel honeycombs units are then overfilled with selected gravel to a recommended depth. Gravel requirement will be 55 kg and 65kg per sq.metre depending on system used. After fill, surface should receive a misting of water to wash through any residual surface fines and then accelerate consolidation by a single pass with a plate vibrator or similar light compaction aid. NOTES - SUB BASE OPTIONS: a. For most applications including pedestrian, light vehicle and occasional access by emergency and utility traffic, sub base should comprises of 10 cm of fully compacted type 1 sub base, with a 25-30mm binding layer. b. For regular heavier vehicle access and heavy traffic areas, such as car parks.15cm of fully compacted type 1 sub base, with a 25-30mm blinding layer c. For domestic, pedestrian only applications it is possible to set the units onto compacted earth, followed by a sand binding layer. d. For fully permeable paving, or water harvesting applications make up should be: i. Earth fully compacted ii.
