Advance to Accelerated Process by meeting the Interview and Gallup threshold 2 Recommendations A. Aspiring Principals: Current Principal, current Chief, and/or another colleague B. Resident Principals: Mentor Principal, and Program Representative B. Advance to Panel Interview based on not meeting threshold for Accelerated Process Interview with 3-member panel Results notification and feedback May appeal after reattempt (if not current CLC or Aspiring) If not successful, did not meet essay benchmark and/or issues with discipline or background. If not successful, did not meet interview benchmark. Feedback will be provided. ELIGIBLE
2 STEP 1: ONLINE APPLICATION WITH RESUME BACKGROUND/ DISCIPLINE CHECK ON-SITE WRITING ASSESSMENT ONLINE GALLUP PRINCIPAL INSIGHT ASSESSMENT Complete the online application including upload of current resume. First-time applicants to the March-June 2015 Interim Eligibility Process must start at 1 by completing the online application. If the candidate has previously applied to the Interim Eligibility Process and was unsuccessful or withdrew, the candidate must submit his or her intent to reapply. Please visit the Apply for Eligibility page on CPSLeaders.com for more information. Review of educator licenses, discipline and background check. For current employees, a discipline review will be completed. If a candidate has been out of the district for more than 3 months, a background check must be completed. If a candidate has completed a discipline and background screen within 12 months, an additional screen is not necessary. Principal Quality Team will request background checks and verify certifications and licenses. Once online application is submitted, candidates receive a confirmation message including information to schedule their on-site writing assessment. Candidates complete a 500-word essay at Garfield Park Office computer lab which will assess a candidate s written communication skills. The essay prompt is provided at time of assessment and candidates have 45 minutes to complete. Candidates cannot bring outside materials into the assessment, and paper and pen will be provided to take notes. Once online application is submitted, candidates will also be ed the Gallup assessment information with access code. This assessment measures a candidate s leadership skills. The assessment will take approximately 45 minutes, and should be completed by the given deadline. If the written essay meets the requirements, candidate will advance to 2 Interview. If the written essay does not meet the requirements, candidate will not advance to 2 Interview and will be provided the opportunity to schedule a feedback session.
3 STEP 2: INTERVIEW AND GALLUP PRINCIPAL INSIGHT REVIEW 2 candidates will participate in a 30-minute in-person interview with District leaders to assess principal readiness against Success Factors and CPS Principal Competencies. Candidates will receive a scheduled time for their interview. Gallup Principal Insight is an indicator of success of a new principal in an urban school district. CPS uses the Gallup results in conjunction with the 2 Interview results to determine a candidate s next step in the Interim Eligibility Process. Gallup results do not prevent candidates from advancing in the process. The Gallup assessment threshold and results are not shared. The candidate s interview results and Gallup Principal Insight assessment will be reviewed to determine the candidate s next steps. Next s for CELA Aspiring Principals and CLC Cohort 3 Resident Principals: 3 Accelerated Process for candidates who meet the threshold for both the Gallup Principal Insight screen and interview 4 Panel Interview for candidates who do not meet the threshold If candidate does not meet the 2 requirements, candidate will not advance to next step and will be provided the opportunity to schedule a feedback session. Next s for All Other Applicants: All other applicants advance to 4 Panel Interview if they meet the 2 requirements. If candidate does not meet the 2 requirements, candidate will not advance to next step and will be provided the opportunity to schedule a feedback session.
4 STEP 3: ACCELERATED PROCESS FOR CURRENT CELA ASPIRING PRINCIPALS & CLC RESIDENT PRINCIPALS TWO RECOMMENDATIONS Current CELA Aspiring Principals and CLC Cohort 3 Resident Principals who pass 2 may enter the Accelerated Process. If the candidate qualifies for the Accelerated Process, two letters of recommendation are required to be considered for Eligibility. Current CELA Aspiring Principal Letters of Recommendation Requirement Current Principal, current Chief, and/or another colleague who has knowledge of candidates leadership skills Current CLC Cohort 3 Resident Principal Letters of Recommendation Requirement Mentor Principal Recommendation Program Representative (Coach or Program Director) At the time of application, the candidate provides the names and contact information for the recommenders. The recommenders identified will receive an online recommendation template directly from the Principal Quality Team. If both of the recommenders support the candidate as principal-ready, the candidate will enter the CPS Principal Eligibility Pool. If one or both of the recommenders do not support the candidate as principal-ready, the candidate will advance to 4 Panel Interview.
5 STEP 4: PANEL INTERVIEW If candidate advances from the 2 Interview, or does not pass the Accelerated Process, the candidate is scheduled for a 45-minute Panel Interview with 3 District Leaders. Candidates will receive a scheduled time for their interview. If candidate successfully meets the Panel Interview requirement, the candidate is Eligible. If candidate does not meet the Panel Interview requirement, the candidate is not Eligible. At that time, the candidate will be provided the opportunity to schedule a feedback session. Appeal APPEAL If candidate does not earn Eligibility status after 4 Panel Interview, the candidate should reattempt the 4 Panel Interview prior to appealing decision to the CEO. The appeal to the CEO should be in writing with supporting evidence.
