29 Students are grouped by reading skills demonstrated on the DRA (Diagnostic Reading Assessment) which include: fluency comprehension vocabulary For select students by need: iready a computer program that monitors the student level of reading and automatically adjusts the material to achieve success in reading. This is done on a daily basis for targeted students. LAFS is a workbook that is used daily in a teacher center. The workbook is focused on Florida State Standards. The workbook is rigorous and includes multiple ways of answering questions. Such as multiple response, short response, extended response, graphic organizers, multiple selection answer, and across curriculum text. It also includes excerpts from informational text and literature pieces including poetry.

30 Make essential reading practice more effective for every student. Personalize reading practice to each student s current level. Manage all reading activities including read to, read with, and independent reading. Assess students reading with four types of quizzes: Reading Practice, Vocabulary Practice, Literacy Skills, and Textbook Quizzes. Build a lifelong love of reading and learning.

By logging on from your home computer students and parents can: See progress toward reading goals. Conduct book searches. Review quiz results. 33 Language Arts include: Grammar/Phonics/Words their Way a phonics, spelling, and vocabulary instruchon through daily word study. One focus of word study is to teach children how to spell and decode new words and to improve their word recognihon in general. This center is differenhated based on the inventory test they have already taken. Grammar is infused as part of the reading program Writing: Opinion, Narrative, Responding to Text, Research a Topic, and Poetry Handwriting/Cursive (Zaner-Bloser model)
