3 The Summer Study Story For more than 25 years, Summer Study Programs has been offering high school students the rare opportunity to experience college life in an organized and supervised environment. This head start eases their transition from high school to college and allows for the successful development of essential time management, study skills, self confidence and independence. Students find the thought of going off to college far less threatening and, as a result, are able to eliminate much of the pre-college anxiety. The security and confidence built prior to their freshman year proves invaluable to the success of their entire college career. Our mission is to offer all students The Total Pre-College Experience! We dedicate our year-long efforts to making each Summer Study program the best experience imaginable and pledge to continue providing the highest quality and most well supervised pre-college programs...a trademeark of Summer Study Programs. The Summer Study Way To ensure the safety and supervision of our students, we ask that our staff members maintain high standards. The following are critical to the success of our programs and students experience: #1 - The health and safety of our students is our highest priority. At all times, staff should be mindful, alert and observant of their surroundings and actions. Proper conduct and enforcement of all program rules concerning student behavior is essential to this objective. #2 - The use or possession of drugs or alcohol is strictly prohibited. #3 - Staff will not smoke cigarettes in the presence of students or near program activities or residence halls. #4 - The commitment you make to our program is a serious one. You will be considered a part of our team. Therefore, please do not apply if you are uncertain about your level of committment to the program.
4 Real Life Work Experience We give you the responsibility and its sink or swim! Whether its teaching an enrichment class or coaching students on the ball field, our staff play a vital role in the success of students summer experience. 6 DON T TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT...Ask our previous Staff Members Professional Skills Inspirational Peers Teambuilding Experience It was certainly a position where we It s difficult to put into words how Mentor, Facilitate, Have Fun! needed to jump right in with both feet. Depending on your colleagues was utterly important. Each day was a new adventure and a new lesson to learn. Outside class was my favorite time of the day...we were able to meet students in a more relaxed setting which fosters a mutual friendship as mentor/mentee. Thomas Sullivan Peak to Peak HS, Math Department Head much Summer Study has helped me with my teaching career. I started working for Summer Study in 2006 and was able to get hands-on classroom experience right out of college. I still teach for Summer Study at Penn State and look forward to it every year! Jon Klingeman Digital Photography/Journalism Instructor Teaching for Summer Study was invaluable. Besides getting experience teaching teens, I am much further ahead in my career goals. And best of all, I had an amazing time doing it! Leyla Morzan Business and Marketing Instructor
