1 Mer utdypende om innhold og foredragsholdere: Niels Henrik Mortensen, Professor, Head of Section, MEng, PhD ved Technical University of Denmark Achieving a quantum leap in performance by implementing Product and production platforms This presentation will describe a well documented and systematic approach to development and implementation of product and production platforms. Core messages are: platforms starts and end with the customer, core interfaces shall be stable over time and a product program has to be designed in balanced performance steps. The author has participated in 140+ industrial projects on product and production platforms. A concrete method and mindset will be presented. Experience shows that delivery time can be reduced by 50% in sister and daughter projects, quality can be improved significantly and material/overhead cost can be reduced by at least 20%. Furthermore there is a big potential in being explicit prepared for downstream development of new projects and products... Roger Tempest, Co-Founder, PLM Interest Group Simplifying Knowledge Management to make Actionable Knowledge Management

2 Roger Tempest was a Founder of the PLMIG in 2004, and has since led many initiatives to generate and codify new working knowledge about PLM. A constant theme has been the development of practical working tools in the most difficult and complex subject areas, resulting in new toolsets for PLM-ERP and for quantifying the Financial Benefits of PLM. He began his career as a design engineer with Westland Aerospace and the Mars Group, before moving to what was then Coopers & Lybrand as a consultant in AMT and Computer Aided Design. While working as an advisor to the UK Science and Engineering Research Council in the 1990s he saw some of the leading-edge work on AI and Knowledge Management, which has led to an ongoing interest in the practical application of KM within industrial companies. He has also worked independently in areas such as product development, Total Quality and IT administration. Research and development in the area of Knowledge Based Development has been going on since the 1990s, and many of the concepts that are being discussed now have changed little in the past two decades. This presentation will show how the various elements of KBD can be broken down into very simple concepts that are easy to apply now. Examples will be given of how these concepts have been used in working environments; and a structure will be proposed that can make them actionable in real working environments. The session will also include an interactive discussion about how Nordic companies can work from this point to achieve a much more powerful working KBD environment. Bob Whale, EMEA Centre of Excellence, Siemens PLM Software Managing Complexity through Systems-Driven Product Development Bob has been with Siemens PLM Software for 30 years in a variety of sales, business development and management positions. He has played a leading role in the evolution of Siemen s PLM business across Europe. Bob facilitates and directs high level PLM vision, strategy and value assessment projects, and has presented numerous papers in this area. He is currently responsible for the European Centre of Excellence, which provides specialist expertise across the whole portfolio of Siemens PLM solutions.

3 Bob has over 40 years experience of computational techniques and IT in manufacturing companies. Prior to Siemens, he worked for an aerospace OEM and a leading automotive supplier where he developed and applied Methodologies for computer-aided design and simulation. The growth of sophisticated software-based functionality in modern products results in a much higher level of complexity in automotive, aerospace, consumer products and most other industries. Manufacturers must address this challenge with new ways of working in order to maintain a rapid pace of innovation and to preserve competitiveness. Requirements must be managed and validated early in the process, to set achievable targets that will drive the design. A holistic system-level view of products must be taken to cascade requirements down to sub-system and component level, with a multi-disciplinary approach to design to ensure that interactions between sub-systems are taken into account. The presentation will describe Siemens PLM s Systems-Driven Product Development (SDPD) strategy which follows these principles, with a heavy emphasis on the early use of modelling and simulation to analyse alternatives and optimise designs. An example of the approach from the automotive industry will be presented.. Thierry has been working in PLM and systems engineering for medium and large scale programs, incorporating the application of embedded/critical software engineering for helicopters, fighter aircrafts, embedded systems and test systems engineering for telecommunication, automotive and railway industry. Prior joining Dassault Systèmes Headquarters since 10 years, Thierry worked over 15 years in the Dassault Systèmes services organization and served as Consultant, Project Manager and Manager for embedded software/systems and test systems engineering departments.

Europe Dr. Darius Silingas, Head of Solutions Department, No Magic Adopting MBSE in Large Organizations: Observations and Recommendations Dr. Darius Silingas works at No Magic Europe since He played multiple technical and management roles in a number of large-scale international software projects. Currently, Darius leads Solutions Department, which provides consulting and training on Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices for MagicDraw clients. He conducted hundreds of training/consulting sessions in 22 countries for organizations from various domains (aerospace, defense, healthcare, automotive, telecommunications, financial, insurance, government, etc.). Darius holds Ph.D. in Informatics and is OMG Certified Systems Modeling Professional, UML Professional, and Expert in BPM. Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is a novel paradigm, which aims to drive systems engineering by creating and exploiting knowledge as integrated models rather than documents and disintegrated technical views maintained in a variety of tools. MBSE is a natural choice for engineering complex systems of systems that involve both hardware and software components, deal with a huge number of heterogeneous requirements, and require solid verification and validation at multiple levels. In this presentation, we will present the major benefits of MBSE with illustrative examples of the approach. Then we will discuss what are the main challenges of adopting MBSE in large organizations and give practical advise how to cope with them. Last but not least, we will propose a recommended process and a supporting infrastructure for incremental MBSE adoption, which minimizes risks and enables quick wins. We will differentiate between throwaway modeling, which brings only temporal benefits in a particular projects, and sustainable modeling, which enables reusing and managing models as long-term knowledge assets. The session is based on experience gained in numerous consulting engagements focusing on adopting MBSE at aerospace, transport, healthcare, automotive, and defense organizations in Europe and USA..

De aller fleste som jobber med utvikling må alltid balansere ønskete egenskaper og bieffekter opp mot hverandre. Det er mange som jobber med å skape optimale løsninger, men gjør de egentlig det? Jeg kommer til på presentere et arbeidssett for hvordan generere optimale løsningsflater, gjennom det og blant annet automatiserte beregningsverktøy. Jeg kommer til å vise konkrete eksempler på hvordan vi (på Raufoss) har brukt denne metoden for å finne optimale løsninger der egenskaper ofte er motstridende. Et eksempel jeg kommer til å vise er kost(vekt)/ytelses optimalisering av et aluminium hjuloppheng. Jeg kommer også til å presentere arbeid som pågår i forbindelse med egenskapsoptimaliseringer for aluminiumslegeringer. Målet er å demonstrere plattformen som ligger til grunn og hvordan dette kan gjøres i praksis.

Sc in Computer Science from University of Oslo 1994, Started professional career at Norwegian Defence Research Establishment in 1985 and engaged since 1995 at Kongsberg Defense Systems, Missile Division with development of the Naval Strike Missile (NSM). Experience with SW development, SW architectures and system integration and testing. Since 2010 worked with System Architectural Design of the Joint Strike Missile (JSM) and responsible for adopting MBSE in the JSM system development. Prosjektleder for MBSE 2015, et pilotprosjekt for innføring av MBSEtankegang i KDS. Integrated Development Platform in KDS Current and future state A Model Based approach is used in the System Architectural Design of the Joint Strike Missile (JSM). The main purpose of the JSM system modeling is to describe chosen concepts in a precise and consistent manner focusing on architectural ("big picture") descriptions through different views (Requirements, Functional, Logical and Physical). A subset of the SysML modeling language is used to express the Requirements, Functional, Logical views. But the R, F and L views are currently not so well integrated with the P view since they exist in different tools. Detailed descriptions for the leaf nodes in the System Architectural Model (SAM) as well as supporting documentation such as concept/design decisions or lessons learnt are not well integrated with the SAM either. A proposal for an Integrated Development Platform will be presented. This platform will enable capturing and sharing information in multiple aspects related to product development.

Khang DInh Vu Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace Knowledge transfer using the RFLP approach I am a graduate student taking a Master's degree in Systems Engineering at Buskerud and Vestfold University College. I have been employed at Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace for 2 years and working with model based systems engineering (MBSE). The RFLP approach and MBSE are the topics in my current master thesis.
