The 2014 AAA State Tournament is being held at Wheeler Field in Centralia, WA. Centralia Sobe/Toyota from ALB-Area II will host the 8 other teams from around the state. The AAA State Tournament will be a double elimination tourney. All head coaches are required to RSVP by July 22 nd, the number of players/coaches that are expected to attend the BBQ on Friday, July 25 th. Mandatory coaches/umpire meeting is Friday, July 25 6:00 p.m. at Wheeler Field, following the BBQ. Included in this packet is the tournament information that has directions and other items of interest. We recommend that your teams stay at the local hotels in the Centralia/Chehalis areas. Also, you ll find a copy of the tournament schedule. Area II is pleased to be hosting this year s AAA State Tournament and are looking forward to watching some great baseball. Turn right at stoplight (Harrison Ave.) Take a left at second light (Johnson Rd). Continue straight thru the 4 way stop light at Borst Ave and go past the middle school on your right. Follow the road around to the right and then to the left past the softball fields and the big sports complex. Look for the stadium with a green fence around the field. From South take I-5 North to Exit 82 (Harrison Ave). Turn right at stoplight (Harrison Ave.) Take a left at the third light (Johnson Rd). Continue straight thru the 4 way stop light at Borst Ave and go past the middle school on your right. 2 Tournament Hotels See the list of hotels on page 3. As a manager you may want to find out how many rooms you need for everyone, so you can hold them with one credit card. Tournament Admission There will be a gate admission charged at this tournament. Adults will be $5.00 per day with seniors and students being $4.00 per day. Children under ten years of age and active military families will be admitted at no charge. Players and coaches in uniform will be admitted at no cost. 4 2014 ALB AAA State Rules 1) Uniforms/Form 1: Coaches and players must be in uniform and also listed on Form 1 to be allowed in dugout and on playing field. Official ALB patches and American flags must be worn at all times. Players and coaches not wearing official ALB patch will be removed from the contest. 2) Tournament Admissions: It is very important for our coaches/managers to notify your players, families and fans that there will be Tournament admissions charged at the gate. 3) Recommended fees are subject to change Adults Seniors & Students Children 10/under & Active Military Individual Day Pass $5 $4 Free 4) Home/Away teams: Note 3 At the manager/officials meeting, on the evening prior to the tournament beginning, the Tournament Director (Senior Commissioner) or the Area s District Commissioner will oversee the coin flips, in advance, for every game throughout the tournament. Top half of bracket will be considered heads and the bottom half of bracket will be considered tails. Tournament Director (Commissioner) will asterisk the outcome of the toss onto the master bracket. Asterisks represent which part of the bracket will be the home team and occupy the 3 rd base dugout. Exceptions: 1) The host team(s) will always have their choice of dugout throughout the tournament. 2) The host team(s) will be guaranteed the evening games on the first two nights only. 5) Line-up Cards: legible line-up cards with first and last names must be completed and given to the announcers in the press box, forty-five (45) minutes prior to the game. 6) Batting practice: Teams should arrange for field and batting practice times with Tournament Officials. No hitting into fences at any of the fields. Teams must be ready for infield/outfield practice when their time comes. 7) Infield/Outfield: Teams must be ready for infield/outfield practice when their time comes. Home team will take infield first, 40 minutes prior to game time and visitors 30 minutes prior to game time. Maximum 10-minute infield/outfield practice. 8) Protests & Appeals: will be decided by the Commissioner-in-charge and in turn will solicit input from the Assigning Secretary of the Umpires Association. 9) Ejection rule: Players and coaches ejected from a State game must be reported to the Commissioner-in-charge by the umpire in-charge, and must sit out the next State game, unless appealed by the team and reinstated by the Commissioner-in-charge. If a second ejection from a State game should occur, the player and/or coach will be dismissed for the remainder of the Tournament. UMPIRES: Will have the discretion of administering restraint when ejecting someone. Warnings and restricting coaches/players to the dugout, prior to ejecting someone, is allowed and very much appreciated. 10) Rainout procedure: In case of rainouts or rain delays, suspended games must be completed prior to the start of the next scheduled game. Teams will be notified by the Tournament Director or Commissioner-in-charge. All games will be moved one day at a time for rainouts. 11) PLAYING RULES: American Legion Baseball playing rules, with these major exceptions: 12) A suspended game completed on the following day will not count toward two (2) games in Rule 1.I. These teams can still play an additional two (2) full games. 4

5 13) All A State Tournament games are seven innings and the Championship game is nine innings. 14) Ten run mercy rules are in effect for all games except the Championship Game. 15) Senior Pitching: No player may pitch more than a total of 12 innings during any consecutive three-day period. No player may make more than three appearances as a pitcher during any consecutive three-day period. PENALTY: Game shall be forfeited if protest is filed with the umpire in chief before the last out of the game. a) Should a double or triple play cause a pitcher to exceed the permitted 12 innings in three consecutive days that action in and of itself shall not be construed as a violation of this rule. b) Any player may be removed from the pitching position and remain in the game at another position. However, a pitcher will be automatically removed when a coach makes two trips to the mound in the same inning and that player cannot return as a pitcher in that game. PENALTY for violating this rule: Forfeiture of the game if a protest is filed with the umpire in chief before the last out of the game. c) Rule 1.N shall be used in all Area, Zone, and State tournaments.
