3 Introduction The Coral Aquanox is an open vented thermal store that provides mains pressure domestic hot water. It does so by using a low pressure open vented hot water storage system. This means you receive all the benefits of mains pressure hot water but without the constraints associated with installing an unvented cylinder. How a Thermal Store works The hot water storage cylinder in the Coral Aquanox is filled with water via the integral feed and expansion tank. The water is then heated directly by an immersion heater or indirectly by a heating coil within the cylinder that is connected to a central heating system. This stored hot water is referred to as a thermal store. Mains cold water is then heated as it passes through the purpose designed domestic hot water coil, providing instantaneous hot water at the taps. The temperature of the domestic hot water is controlled by a WRAS and TMV2 approved thermostatic mixing valve with a rapid fail-safe function to ensure safety and improve economy. Siting The thermal store is designed to be floor standing and can be installed in any frost free location within the dwelling without it affecting its performance. As the Coral Aquanox is an open vented appliance it is not subject to the requirements of Section G3 of the Building Regulations relating to unvented water heaters, so therefore can be installed by any competent installer. Furthermore it means that it does not require the installation of a safety discharge pipe going to the outside of the dwelling to accommodate the discharge from a temperature and pressure relief valve. 4 Open Vented Thermal Store to provide mains pressure domestic hot water Coral Aquanox Cylinder Construction The Coral Aquanox thermal store range is constructed from strong and lightweight Duplex stainless steel which offers a superior resistance to corrosion, particularly in aggressive water areas. Duplex stainless steel ensures the longest possible working life for every thermal store. Installation The Coral Aquanox has been designed with the installer in mind. All plumbing and electrical connections are located at the front of the unit to give easy access for both installation and servicing. All plumbing connections are 22mm compression. Technical Information for Heating System Designers and SAP Assessors The standing heat loss data from a thermal store should not be directly compared with heat loss data from either unvented or vented cylinders as they are treated differently in SAP. The SAP calculator takes account of these different types of store and applies various correction factors to reflect the different ways the hot water is generated. SAP assessors should input the standing heat loss data given on the following page into the SAP calculator. The polyurethane foam insulation is CFC/HCFC free and has an ozone depletion factor of zero and a global warming potential of 3.1. With an integrated feed and expansion tank the thermal store can be installed in any frost free environment, including an airing cupboard, loft, cellar, utility room or even in a garage. High Efficiency and Maximum Economy To minimise the standing heat loss from the cylinder and therefore maximise economy, a 60mm thick layer of high performance polyurethane foam fills the space between the inner vessel and outer casing. This also ensures the unit will comply with pending European Legislation that is due to be implemented in the near future. To demonstrate just how important we view the subject of heating efficiency and the need to reduce heat wastage to improve economy, the Coral Aquanox is supplied with an innovative insulation casing to reduce heat loss through the blending valve. The base of the unit is also fully insulated and stands on three moulded feet to minimise heat loss to the supporting floor. Immersion heaters and controls are fully integrated with no large external bosses to radiate heat. 4

Minimum Water Supply Requirements If there are any doubts about water supply pressure or flow rates please contact our Specification Advice Team to discuss. Compatible Boilers Electric, gas or oil fired open vent or sealed system type, fitted with integral control thermostat and cut-out. A pumped supply to the primary coil is required. Visual Overflow Indicator 22mm compression inlet to 28mm compression outlet. Electrical Direct Models: Connection is to the combined thermostat/thermal cut-out, housed within the integrated controls housing. The electrical supply must be permanently connected via a double pole linked isolating switch with a minimum break capacity of 13A. Indirect Models: Controls should be wired to the boiler, programmer etc. in accordance with the control scheme being used. All electrical wiring must conform to the latest IEE Wiring Regulations. Guarantee On-site service support including parts and labour for 12 months from date of installation. After the initial 12 months, a guarantee will apply for a further four years for the stainless steel inner vessel only. During this four year period, in the event of a cylinder leak, a replacement product will be issued provided that the replacement is carried out by one of our heateam engineers, for which reasonable labour charges will apply. The guarantee is valid provided that: It has been correctly installed as per the instructions contained in the instruction manual and all relevant Codes of Practice and Regulations in force at the time of installation. The Benchmark Checklist has been completed upon commissioning and the Benchmark Service Record is completed for each service. It has not been modified in any way, other than by Elson. It has not been frost damaged. It has not been tampered with or been subjected to misuse or neglect. The fault is not scale related. Within 60 days of installation the user completes and returns the certificate supplied along with the proof of purchase to register the product. It has been installed in the United Kingdom. The fault is not caused by high chloride levels in the water supply or incorrect disinfection methods. Maximum permissible chloride level 200mg/l (PPM). Evidence of purchase and date of supply may be required. The guarantee is transferable.
