2 THE CUSTOMER KNOWS BEST HOW TO DELIVER WHERE IS SHIPADVISOR INTEGRATED IN THE WEB SHOP? ShipAdvisor allows your customer to choose the perfect delivery option. All delivery options are integrated in your web shop typically in the Check- Out phase. On the basis of the postal code, consignment dimensions and weight, ShipAdvisor generates all relevant delivery options for the individual customer as well as the freight rate. Your customer is informed of all relevant options and freight rates and is now free to choose. ShipAdvisor comes configured by EDI-Soft, but you can design and control the practical implementation in your own web shop, giving it the perfect look and feel. In other words, ShipAdvisor gives your customer more possibilities in terms of tailoring delivery without affecting the shopping experience and the payment process. ShipAdvisor displays the delivery options available to your customer after selection of the required products/services and before payment. 4 GETTING STARTED WITH SHIPADVISOR First of all, we hold a meeting together to identify your needs. Our aim with the meeting is to understand your needs and present your options to provide smarter delivery in your web shop using ShipAdvisor. If this aspect has already been dealt with at the preceding sales meeting, we can skip this phase. Who should participate? Preferably, business-minded staff should take part in these discussions. The central issue is, of course, what services you want to offer to your customers. In addition, your web shop manager should participate. If your web shop developer is close at hand, it is a good idea to have him/her standing in the wings. 1 2 WEB SHOP OWNER EDI-SOFT AS WEB DEVELOPER WHEN TO INVOLVE THE WEB SHOP DEVELOPER After identifying your ShipAdvisor needs and clarifying the general concepts, you should involve your web shop developer, as the project now moves on to a more technical phase. Typically, your web shop developer forms a general idea of what ShipAdvisor should look like and what options to include. For instance, you may decide to allow all customers access to the following delivery options see illustration: If your web shop developer wants to create a tailor-made solution, the necessary information can be found in our technical blog: Private delivery Quick delivery package (1 day) Economy package (3 days) Business Delivery Morning delivery (1 day) Gate delivery (1 day) Personal pick-up at delivery points The "Package Safe" (1 day) Shops (same day) If your web shop developer is using a standard web shop that already incorporates a ShipAdvisor module, this module simply has to be activated/purchased in order to proceed. 5 WHO WILL CONFIGURE THE OPTIONS/ PRICES/DELIVERY TIMES TO BE DISPLAYED IN YOUR WEB SHOP? 3 WHAT ABOUT DISPLAYING DELIVERY POINTS? WHAT EFFORT IS REQUIRED FROM YOU? 4 It is EDI-Soft s responsibility to set up the options that you want to display in your web shop. After the initial meeting aimed at identifying your needs, we will have formed a general idea of the required delivery options. We retrieve your customer ID, prices, etc. from the individual carriers and set up the necessary functions relating to option display and freight rate calculation on the basis of this information. Initially, this setup will take place in a test environment. In technical terms, ShipAdvisor is configured with the necessary parameters, and your web shop receives a reply when sending an availability request to ShipAdvisor. The possible options depend on what your customer has purchased in your web shop and where the product is to be delivered. The various validation rules will be agreed upon between you and us. If you have specific delivery points, it may be good customer service to display them on a map from which they can be selected or to include them in a list of points close to you. This will make it easy for your customer to find and choose the most suitable delivery point. ShipAdvisor can incorporate several different carriers delivery points on the same map or list and features a wide range of methods that allow smart and user-friendly display of the delivery points. The look and feel of it is entirely up to you. When the web shop sends a request to ShipAdvisor, the latter returns certain information, including the geographical coordinates of the required delivery points. These coordinates allow the web shop to present the delivery points on a Google Map, for instance. ShipAdvisor also returns other information such as the address of the delivery point, opening hours, etc. to be displayed, for example, when clicking on the delivery point. Of course, ShipAdvisor also features a function to simply present the closest delivery point relative to your customer s address. 6 CONNECTING THE CONFIGURATION TO THE SHIPADVISOR MODULE IN YOUR WEB SHOP 5 6 HOW TO CHECK THAT SHIPADVISOR WORKS CORRECTLY Once EDI-Soft has made the necessary configurations, we are ready to connect the various elements. In this context, EDI-Soft contributes with information that identifies your web shop and provides access to a test environment at a specific address (URL). Subsequently, when the web shop sends a request to ShipAdvisor providing information about the recipient (address, postal code, city) and about your customer s purchase (number of packages, weight, volume, loading meter, etc.), ShipAdvisor will return the price as well as information about the available delivery options. The reply from ShipAdvisor is thus a string of information, including the consignment ID, time of delivery, product ID, etc. It may be advisable to group consignments by delivery to private persons, delivery to businesses and drop point delivery (at a specific delivery point). This grouping is also supported by the ShipAdvisor web service. See illustration of delivery under item 2. If the developer would like to test the replies from our web service during the connection phase, we recommend using the test bench at: Once ShipAdvisor has been connected to the EDI-Soft configuration, it is time for testing. This involves making various test purchases (putting products into the shopping cart) and checking what happens as you reach the CheckOut phase when the ShipAdvisor module typically appears. Relevant test issues include the following: Do I get the correct options when I choose Private delivery? Are the calculated freight rates and delivery times in line with my price agreements? Does the weight/volume of the products in the cart affect the options displayed? Can I change my selections if, for instance, I would prefer another delivery point or Business Delivery? For testing we recommend the assistance of employees or customers who have not been involved in developing or setting up the system
7 HOW SOON CAN YOU PUT THE SYSTEM INTO SERVICE, IF THE TEST IS SATISFACTORY? 7 8 SHIPADVISOR HAS GONE LIVE! HOW WILL THIS BENEFIT MY CUSTOMERS? If the test is satisfactory, you can start using ShipAdvisor immediately. In this case, EDI-Soft simply makes a shift from the test environment to the service environment. EDI-Soft provides you with a new URL for the service environment as well as new login credentials. In other words, your web developer only has to make a few changes to the information in the web shop s ShipAdvisor module, before you can take off. If the test reveals a need for changes to the configuration or the technical implementation of ShipAdvisor, these changes must be made prior to final launch. If changes to the configuration are required, EDI-Soft is ready to take the necessary measures. Should you require changes to the look and feel of the module itself, you should contact your web shop developer or standard module provider. Once ShipAdvisor has been implemented in your web shop, you can provide outstanding service to your customers who can easily find and choose the perfect delivery option.
