1 ANZAC DAY 25 APRIL 2016 ADMINISTRATIVE INSTRUCTION This instruction is issued by the authority of the ANZAC Day Combined Parade Committee (ADCPC) and contains details for the conduct of the ANZAC Day Parade - a Parade to commemorate the 101st Anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli by the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) to be held on Monday, 25 April His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia will review the Parade.

Banner Carriers Turn left into Queen Street and surrender banners to Marshals Colour parties Continue over Creek and fall out in Adelaide Street Units: Turn right and/or left into Queen Street. Fall out and move off quickly. Vehicles Continue down Creek Street turn right into Elizabeth Street and return passenger to loading area. 6 Ambulance Queensland Ambulance Service will have ambulance facilities at the corner of William and Elizabeth Streets, again Ann and Adelaide Streets and one more at the corner of Queen and Creek Streets Advertising or selling by organizations or individuals is prohibited, except for the sale of ANZAC Day Badges supplied by the ANZAC Day Commemoration Committee or authorized sellers. Bands are required to report to the Band Marshal in Queens Park. The first bands will be placed prior to march off. Bands going around more than once can hitch a ride on a buggy back up Elizabeth Street from Cnr Creek and Queen Street. Banners held in the lockup at SED can be collected from the youth tent in Queens Park. The youth tent is a very busy place so please be patient. At the conclusion of the parade any Flags, Banners or Unit signs that are the property of the ADCPC are to be handed to the officials at the collection point at the corner of Creek and Queen Streets (number 15) on the map immediately after the march. A vehicle will be parked alongside the collection point to collect stores. Car Parking Wickham Terrace Car Park will be manned with a cashier at the exit booth from 4.30am until 8.30am but will remain open all weekend. Patrons can use the automatic pay machines to pay for parking after 8.30am. The fee for Monday is $5.00 flat rate. On Anzac Day patrons entering the car park from 3.30am for the Dawn Service will be charged a flat rate of $5.00 for the day. King George Square Car Park will be open through Sunday night into Monday for the Dawn Service with a Security Guard on site until 7.30am. The main entrance to King George Square Car park is actually Roma Street. Roma Street is the only exit for vehicles exiting from the car park. This is directly opposite the Pullman/Mercure Hotel in Roma Street and clearly visible with a large LED sign. Most customers use this entry, but the Adelaide Street entry is open at all advertised times as well. An attendant will be on site from 7am. The fee for Monday is $5.00 flat rate. On Anzac Day patrons entering the car park from 3.30am for the Dawn Service will be charged a flat rate of $5.00 for the day. Descendants All next of kin must march with the specially provided section in Group 9 which assembles in George St between Stevens Lane and Margaret Streets
7 Dress code Neat civilian clothing or uniform, if appropriate, may be worn. Hats need not be removed when passing the Saluting Base, except for contingent leaders who should do so. Authorised service medals (FULL SIZE MEDALS NO MINIATURES) are to be worn on the left breast. Descendants should wear the veterans full size medals on the right breast only. Information Tent located on the edge of Queens Park, Elizabeth & George Streets. Available at the tent are programs, unit location maps and a copy of the march protocols. Please be aware that not all Queensland ADF units are represented in the Brisbane march. Jeeps Veterans that have booked a spot in a jeep/buggy are required to make their way to the loading area in Elizabeth Street from 8.30am remember that the roads close at 7.30am, but bus transport from Central Station will be available. As the leaders of the Parade in 2016 are Air Force, those veterans need to report to the loading area by 8.30am please. Carers are reminded that the wait can be long, so please remember to bring a hat and some water for your veterans. Loss, Damage or Injury ADCPC will not accept responsibility for any loss, damage or injury to persons or property that may occur as a result of attendance at or of being in the proximity of the ANZAC Day Parade. Non Veteran All non veterans must march with the specially provided section in Group 8 which assembles at the Cnr of George and Mary Streets
8 Police will be stationed throughout the Parade to assist SES, Qld Ambulance, St John Ambulance and the Parade Marshals with crowd control, traffic control and overall safety of veterans and spectators. Rain The Parade will only be cancelled in the event of a severe weather event or one that poses imminent risk to participants. SES staff will be stationed throughout the Parade to assist Qld Police, medical staff and Parade Marshals St John Ambulance will have qualified staff positioned behind the Dais area in King George Square, Queens Park next to the information tent, the jeep loading area, in William Street behind the Casino and the middle and bottom end of George Street. They will also have staff on bikes throughout the Parade area. Taxi Transport Veterans who elect to take this mode of transport will arrive at the Elizabeth Street form up area prior to march off. They will be able to have a toilet break. Please make sure that they have water with them as it is a long day. Bookings are essential. Picked up from place of residence and returned after the Parade. No other arrangements are possible with this service. Toilets Portable toilets will be located in William Street, Elizabeth Street (Jeep Loading), George Street (Stevens Lane), Mary Street, Charlotte Street, Creek Street and at the form up point at Southbank. Traffic General traffic movement in Assembly Areas ceases at 6.00am to allow marshalling to commence. Transport to Assembly Areas: Brisbane City Council supply free bus transport for Veterans to and from Central Railway Station. Departure from the Cenotaph, (Ann Street) bus stop will be between 7.30 and 9.30am. Return service to Central Station from Elizabeth Street between Creek and Eagle Streets between 10am and 12.30pm
9 ANZAC DAY COMBINED PARADE COMMITTEE MARCH PROTOCOLS The wearing of fraudulent medals and awards are NOT permitted Section 80B(1),(4) of the Defence Act 1903 makes it an offence for a person to wear a service decoration that they are not entitled to wear, or to falsely represent themselves as a person on whom a service decoration was conferred. Veterans are to wear full size medals. Those WW11 Veterans able to march the full distance of the Parade are welcome to Parade behind their Banner at the front of the parade with one carer or one person of discretionary age. Large groups of Descendants wanting to march may only do so behind the banner Descendants of Veterans All Conflicts Please check the Order of March for positioning. Those disbanded Units/Ships or Squadrons wishing to Parade their Banner at the front of the Parade may only do so when they have gained approval from the ANZAC Day Combined Parade Committee without descendants P O Box 45 New Farm Qld 4005 Pictures of deceased Veterans are NOT permitted to be carried on Parade Any livestock, including Dogs MUST have approval from the ADCPC to enter any area of the ANZAC Day Parade There is NO exception (WHS requirement). Children being pushed in pushchairs or carried in slings are a potential OH&S risk and we ask that parents refrain from including them in the Parade. Unit Leaders on Parade are responsible for the appearance of those marching with their associations and to stipulate the need to respect the March Protocols as set down by the ADCPC. Copies of the Protocol are available on Parade or prior by visiting Closed in footwear is a requirement on parade. Those marches that do not comply with this requirement do so at their own risk. These protocols are designed to respect the dignity of the occasion.
