4 The history of success The industrial production of autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) in Bulgaria began in It was dictated by the necessity of joining our country to the European models for complex solution of environmental and energy issues of the society. The factory for AAC is located in the territory of industrial zone Kremikovtsi, Sofia. In 1994 the company was privatized by YTONG Holding, Munich in one of the most successful transactions in Bulgaria during this period. At the end of 2002 YTONG Holding was acquired by the German company HANIEL Bau- Industrie GmbH, a part of the huge conglomerate HANIEL, which comprises companies with different operations. In 2003, the business of production and trade with construction materials was concentrated in the company XELLA International GmbH, established within the HANIEL Bau-Industrie GmbH holding. As a result of observing the corporate principles, in 2004 the name of the Bulgarian entity and its corporate design were changed from "YTONG Bulgaria" ЕООD to "XELLA Bulgaria" ЕООD. In 2008 XELLA International GmbH was acquired as a strategic investment of Goldman Sachs and PAI. Today, as always, our goal is to offer high quality products and perfect service to our customers.

5 Xella Bulgaria ЕООD The first factory for YTONG in Bulgaria started operating in 1994 in the territory of Kremikovtsi industrial zone, Sofia. For more than fifteen years the YTONG products became wellknown on the Bulgarian market as a high quality building material. It is preferred by most specialists for execution of masonry. As a result of the good acceptance of the product on the market and in view of satisfying the growing demand for high quality and modern building materials in Bulgaria "XELLA Bulgaria" ЕООD opened officially its second factory in the town of Dobrich in May The factory was built after oneyear construction works and investments of 16 million euro over an area of ten hectares. Its annual production capacity of about m 3 AAC is due to the automated production process. The choice of the town of Dobrich is not accidental: production is intended to satisfy the growing demand for this high quality building material along the west coast of Black sea, as well as in Romania.

6 Ecological production The AAC blocks YTONG are produced of completely natural raw materials sand, lime, cement, gypsum and water. These natural raw materials are practically inexhaustible in nature. Their production does not disturb the ecological balance and they undergo processing within a closed production cycle with moderate energy consumption. Any residual materials from the production process are harmless and are being recycled. The buildings constructed with YTONG are heated more easily and economically, the noxious emissions of CО 2 are less and thus people can contribute to the environment protection. The production of autoclaved aerated concrete YTONG takes several stages. After mixing the incoming raw materials lime, sand and water a minimum quantity of powdered aluminium is added to the mixture and after that it is poured into big moulds. Like the baking powder in the cake, the powdered aluminium causes rising of the work-in-progress mixture. As a result of this, millions of microscopic air pores appear inside which are the reason for the exceptional building characteristics of the material. The next process stage is cutting it is carried-out by machines in an automatic cutting plant with great accuracy. After that, the material gets hardened in autoclaves at a temperature of 190 С and steam pressure of 12 bars. The outcome is a homogenous product with uniform properties in all directions. During all of the production raw materials are subject of continuous control, same as the technological processes and the quality of the final product. Thus, one absolutely ecological product complying with and meeting the requirements of modern and fashionable building materials is produced. Due to the technologies at the final stage of the production process, which have been tested for many years, a high quality product with multiple useful properties is obtained.

7 YTONG the AAC for each building The masonry blocks YTONG are produced with a length of 60 cm and a height of 25 cm. These dimensions are the same for all blocks produced. Only their thickness can vary within the range from 5 to 35 cm. The blocks with a thickness of 5, 7.5 and 10 cm are used for lining existing or newly built walls for increasing their heat insulation capacity. The blocks with a thickness from 10 to 25 cm are suitable for making partition walls within the dwellings or among the separate dwelling units. Blocks with the same dimensions but with a higher density are specially produced for internal walls in order to increase their heat insulation capacity. The dimensions of 20, 25, 30 and 35 cm are used for façade enclosure of the buildings, dimensions of 20 and 25 cm are appropriate for nonheated or seasonally dwelled buildings. External walls with a thickness of 30 cm of the new product line YTONG extra + meet the requirements of the current regulations regarding the heat insulation for sites with residential, public or industrial purpose, which operate throughout the year.

8 Product properties Modern The AAC blocks YTONG combine the properties of several building materials, which seems contradictory at first sight. They are with the heat insulation properties of timber, but at the same time are fire-resistant; they have low volume weight, while posessing good strength. YTONG is a modern product because of its functionality. It can be used not only for shell and core masonry. With YTONG you can fulfill your plans quickly, easily and in shorter periods, as well as limit the wet processes during construction. Everyone can process the blocks in the desired form and make on his/her own shelves, bar tops, barbeques or panel installations and pipes in bathrooms without special instruments and professional intervention. Ecological Production and utilization of YTONG are harmless for environment and people s health. The blocks are produced completely from natural raw materials (cement, sand, lime, gypsum and water), which are practically inexhaustible in nature, in a absolutely clean, wasteless and energy-saving manner. Warm The good heat insulation properties of YTONG are due to its cellular structure. Only 20% of its volume is a dense mass, the remaining 80% are occupied by pores that are evenly distributed. It is a common knowledge that the motionless air, i.e. the air enclosed in small cells, is one of the best heat insulation materials. This is exactly the case with the AAC. YTONG it provides for about 9 times better heat insulation than that of the plain concrete; 3.5 times greater than that of the solid ceramic bricks; 3 times greater than that of the lattice bricks and 2.5 times greater than that of the hollow ceramic blocks (25 cm hollow bricks). External walls of YTONG extra+ with a thickness of 30 cm meet construction requirements and do not need any additional heat insulation. YTONG sufficiently confines the passage of heat from the premises to the environment during winter and in the reverse direction during summer and provides for energy efficiency of the walls.

9 Product properties Secure With the AAC blocks YTONG you can feel secure and safe in your new home. Fire resistance YTONG is a non-flammable building material. In case of fire the YTONG walls do not get deformed and destroyed, they do not permit the heat and prevent the fire from passing into neighbouring rooms. YTONG allows for obtaining the highest possible fire resistance class easily even in case of small wall thicknesses. Bearing capacity This property of YTONG is among the most important features of any materials used for shell and core construction, namely for masonry. The loads to which the walls are subject during construction and after its completion should not lead to their destruction or to destruction of the building or its parts. The YTONG block bearing capacity declared before the users is guaranteed by an effective production control system and is certified with a declaration of conformity of the product signed by the manufacturer. Earthquake resistance Use of YTONG facilitates the earthquake resistance of the buildings. Lower wall weights allow for execution of more efficient and more economical earthquake resistant structures. Given the material is protected against direct adverse weather conditions, it has practically unlimited durability over time. This feature is particularly valuable and sought for in our modern dynamic life. On the other hand, the costs for operation, including for repairs and heating, are lower than those of buildings constructed by other wall materials.
