2 Guide to Install Java Document ID: JAV01 UNINSTALL ALL VERSIONS OF JAVA 1. From the Start menu, trace to Settings, and click Control Panel. 2. In the list of All Control Panel Items, locate and click Programs and Features. 3. In the list, locate and click Java. NOTE: The list displays in alphabetical order. Your list is unique to your computer. 4. Click the Uninstall link (at the top). Page 2

3 Document ID: JAV01 Guide to Install Java 5. To confirm, click Yes. 6. Proceed through the prompts. Click Yes. 7. If you have any browsers open, click Close and Continue. 8. Repeat steps 1-7 until you have uninstalled all versions of Java. DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL JAVA 1. Open Internet Explorer (IE) and navigate to WARNING: YOU MUST USE INTERNET EXPLORER TO INSTALL JAVA. 4 Guide to Install Java Document ID: JAV01 2. Click the Free Java Download button. 3. Click the Agree and Start Free Download button. 4. The following will display at the bottom of your browser s window. 5. Click Run. 6. Click Yes. 7. Click Install. Page 4

6 Guide to Install Java Document ID: JAV01 The progress window will display. Remove Out-of-Date Java Versions After installing Java, the following window may or may not display. NOTE: Java remnants may be left behind during uninstallation. The following process will remove out-of-date Java versions. 1. If the Java Setup Uninstall Out-of-Date Versions window displays, click Uninstall. Page 6

8 Guide to Install Java Document ID: JAV01 3. Click Close. Java will redirect to Java s verification page. NOTE: This step is optional. If desired, follow the prompts to verify Java. 4. To ensure Java forms open successfully, use Internet Explorer (IE) to access a Java form (not an HTML form) in Oracle E-Business Suite. If the form does not open, follow the steps to Reenable Java s Security Prompts. WARNING: USE INTERNET EXPLORER TO ACCESS THE JAVA FORM FOR THE FIRST TIME. Page 8

9 Document ID: JAV01 Guide to Install Java Re-enable Java s Security Prompts Occasionally Java s security prompts must be re-enabled. 1. To re-enable Java security prompts, from the Start menu, trace to Programs, then Java and click Configure Java. 2. Click the Security tab. The following window will display. Page 9

To ensure Java forms open successfully, use Internet Explorer (IE) to access a Java form (not an HTML form) in Oracle E-Business Suite. NOTE: When asked if you want to use Java, click Run. You must do this for each Oracle E-Business Suite environment. Additionally, you may need to click (multiple times) Run With Latest Version in multiple popup windows while accessing the instance. This should only happen once per instance. Page 11
