12 INCLUSION PROVISION Isolation (capacity 8) Students are placed in Isolation as a pre-booked sanction. Students in Isolation must register with their form tutor first, then make their way to the Isolation room. Students should not arrive before 8:50am and will finish school at 3:30pm Only SLT or LL/AO can book students in Isolation. Students in Isolation are there either as a pre-booked sanction or during the day from the Removals room following decision of LL/SLT. Letters are sent home about the Isolation. When students arrive, they should place their bags and coats on the overhead shelf and their planner on the desk, opened on the correct day. Students returning from an exclusion also spend 1 day in Isolation, as part of their re-integration process. Whilst in Isolation students must comply with Isolation rules. If not, they will be marked with a cross (X) for every instance of non-compliance. When a student accumulates 4 crosses, they repeat the day in Isolation. Inclusion staff will check the Isolation register at the end of the day and if appropriate they will rebook a student for the following day, record it in SIMS and notify the relevant AO. If students walk out of Isolation, they repeat the day in Isolation. If students repeat Isolation 3 times in a week, parents come in for a meeting. Whilst students are in Isolation, they order their lunch which is brought over for them or they bring a packed lunch. Removals Room If students have to be removed from the Dept On Call room, they are taken to the Removals Room by the AO On Call. The removal from the original lesson has already triggered an automatic detention the following day. Removal from the Dept OnCall room is an automatic 1 day in Isolation. When a student arrives at the Removals Room: 1. An Achievement Officer / Learning Leader will interview the student about the incident and the Removals Room register will be filled in. 2. Unless a more serious sanction is needed, the AO/LL will record the removal in SIMS (N5-Removals Room) and action as Isolation. 3. Then the student will be booked in the Isolation register for the following day 4. Student returns to his/her next lesson. If further serious sanctions are deemed appropriate immediately, LL and SLT to make a decision. The student remains in the Removals Room until decision is made. The student will return to the next lesson unless it s necessary to be isolated. 12
