Wireless Home Security Alarm System AM MONTH GUARANTEE Installation & Operating Instructions
INTRODUCTION The AM500 is a simple self-contained alarm system. It protects the home by sounding a siren whenever an intruder is detected. The system detects intruders by sensing movement in strategic areas of the house and also by sensing the opening of important doors and windows. The system can be armed/disarmed with your own selected security code, which can be changed as and when required for additional safety. All sensors are wireless transmitters in order to avoid messy cabling. CONTENTS The AM500 consists of 1 x Control Panel, 2 x Wireless Movement Activated Sensors, 2 x Wall Brackets, 1 x Wireless Window/Door Sensor, AC adaptor and a bag of accessories. Screws with wall sleeves 1 x 12V battery 3 x AA alkaline batteries (not supplied) 2 x 9V batteries (not supplied)
90 LAYOUT GUIDELINES The Control Panel is usually located somewhere near the main entrance door and within 1 metre of a power point. The Window/Door Sensor is attached to the front or rear door, or to a window through which an intruder can enter the house. The Movement Sensors are usually mounted high on a wall and directed into a room requiring protection, such as a lounge room or hallway. These sensors must not be located more than 20 metres from the Control Panel. The maximum distance may be even less if the sensor has to transmit through doors or walls. Some sample layouts are suggested below for typical situations. 7 meters unobstructed degrees Movement Sensors Door/Window Sensor
INSTALLATION 1. On the rear side of the Control Panel, open the larger compartment. Insert three AA alkaline batteries into the slots provided. 4. On the front side of the Door Sensor, open the battery compartment and insert the supplied 12V battery in place. 2. Above the battery slots is a House Code switch bank. Each of the four switches in it can be turned on or off. Set an on/off combination and remember it. This same code has to be set on the other components of the security system so that they work in sync. Note : All switches by default are towards 1234 position (OFF). 5. On the rear side of the Door Sensor, set the house code in the same manner as in the Control Panel. Note : All switches by default are towards the 1234 position (OFF). 3. Now open the smaller compartment on the rear side of the Control Panel. Insert the AC Adapter plug and External Siren connections (optional) into the slots provided.
6. On the rear side of both the Movement Sensors, open the battery compartment. Set the house code. Note : All switches by default are (OFF) away from the 1234 position. The ON position is opposite in this switch bank. 10. Fix the Wall Brackets at the selected location with screws. Slide the Movement Sensors on to the brackets and adjust them to face the centre of the room. 7. Insert one 9V battery into the slot provided (over the house code switch bank). 11. Fix the Door Sensor on the wall with screws and its magnet-part on the adjoining door/window surface with the help of double-sided tape strips supplied. Ensure that the Door Sensor and magnet are parallel and the arrows are pointing directly at one another. Separation between the pieces must not exceed 12mm. 8. Decide the location of the components as per the Layout Guidelines. 9. Fix the Control Panel at the desired location by putting two screws in the wall 137mm apart, at a convenient height above the floor. Plug in the adaptor into an electrical socket. 12. Switch on the AC adaptor. The system is now ready to be programmed.
13. A security code must first be entered using the Control Panel keypad. This is the code that you will use to arm and disarm the system. The default code is 11. To set the security code enter 11 followed by *. The Control Panel will give a single beep and the green LED will start flashing. While the LED is flashing enter your 4 digit security code followed by *. A musical tone will indicate change of security code. USING THE SYSTEM 1. To arm the unit enter the security code followed by the KEY button. Green LED indicating armed status will glow on the Control Panel. 2. You have 30 seconds to leave the house. If within the 30 seconds, the Motion Sensors detect movement or the door/window is opened, the LED of the sensor will blink once, the LED of the Control Panel will blink once and there will be a single beep. 3. The green LED extinguishes after 30 seconds. The system is now ready to detect intruders. While the Door Sensor is active continuously, the Movement Sensor is capable of sensing only at intervals of 2 minutes after each activation. 4. Now if motion is detected or the door/window is opened, the sensor and Control Panel blink their LED once and beep once. After a delay of 8 seconds, the siren goes off. In case it is you who has entered the house, you have these 8 seconds to enter your security code followed by key to disarm the system. If the siren goes off, enter the security code followed by key to switch it off. 5. While armed, if the control panel is removed from the wall, the Tamper Proof button will trigger the siren immediately.

ACCESSORIES More Movement Activated Sensors and Wireless Window/Door Sensors can be added to the AM500 system if desired to provide additional security. AM551 Movement Activated Sensor AM552 Wireless Window/Door Sensor Installation of the Movement Activated Sensors and Window/Door Sensors is identical as described in these instructions. AM553 Extension Siren Installation of the external siren: - Connect the wires of the Siren to the 'EXT SIREN' terminals inside the Control Panel wiring compartment.(red wire to +ve and Black wire to ve). - Run the cable to another room or even outside under eaves and install 4 x 'AA' batteries inside the Extension Siren. The Extension Siren will now sound when the Control Panel Siren sounds. IMPORTANT DO NOT drop any alarm components. DO NOT install the Movement Activated Sensors close to an internal heating or cooling source. DO NOT install the alarm in a position where direct sunlight may occur. DO NOT use rechargeable batteries in any alarm components. Use alkaline type batteries only. DO NOT mix different types of batteries in the Control Panel or Extension Alarm.
The Alarm components must be kept indoors. The Compact Extension Siren may be fitted outdoors under eaves and out of weather. We recommend alkaline batteries for best performance. The Movement Activated Sensors will detect small pets such as dogs or cats, it is therefore essential that your pets are kept out of the detection area when the alarm is activated. This alarm system is designed to be a deterrent. It does not in any way guarantee protection. It is simply an alarm signal. Guarantee excludes any batteries supplied with the unit. Keep these instructions in a secure place in case further reference to them is required. Test alarm system occasionally to ensure confidence in the system.
