2 Train as you Command Command as you Train Command Training and Assessment Across all levels of command The new Vector CTA (Command Training & Assessment) quite simply gives fire and rescue services the most flexible and comprehensive tool available, enabling them to deliver command training, assessment and validation right across the lifecycle of command. It is easy to use with touch-screen functionality and the in-built artificial intelligence (AI) means it is significantly less labour-intensive to operate than other command training simulators. Vector CTA focusses on visual and audio cues for Level 1 and 2 assessments, using a choice of either pre-selected AI-driven scenarios or continuously looped videos. The simulated 3D graphics or videos can be shown on multiple screens to simulate the sectorisation of an incident. Adding your own pictures and videos that include effects like smoke, fire and building collapse will further increase the realism and user experience. 3 Rapidly customisable scenarios Best in class Flexibility is at the core of this best in class training and assessment tool, enabling Facilitators to create rapidly customisable scenarios by selecting the type and location of the risks, choosing the seat of the fire or risk with the resultant effects shown in the building degradation, applying a range of different building skins to challenge the incident commanders in many different ways. This means that the focus during an assessment is on the incident commander s decisions, rather than on building and running a scenario. The system supplies information-rich data to those commanding level 3 and above incidents via the system s mobilising emulator, feeding real time main scheme messages and resource information into a training licence of VectorCommand s operational system CSS. Reflecting of course the information sources they would be exposed to in a real incident. Organisation Chart Simple to use and to populate, the organisation chart is an excellent visual reference as part of the assessment process. New Video Characters A complete set of new video scripts and characters, which now appear on top of the background scenario image. Timeline Clearly records all decisions and actions during the scenario for immediate review after the assessment. Continuously looped videos can be shown on multiple screens to simulate the sectorisation of an incident, allowing you to assess specific skill sets required by Sector Commanders. More complex scenarios can use this enhanced functionality to validate senior officers too. Mobilising Emulator The mobilising emulator inside Vector CTA supplies information-rich data to those commanding level 3 and above incidents: at the scene, from the Operational Rooms or from the Strategic Coordination Centre. Reflecting the information sources they would be exposed to in a real incident. Main scheme messages and information regarding the resources available at an incident are fed into the CSS operational system. Another advantage is that command support staff can also be trained and assessed at the same time as the incident commander. Training and Exercising System The Training and Exercising System (TES) is an advanced, but easy to use, exercise authoring and delivery system; supporting tabletop and command post exercising of individuals, teams or entire response structures in a single agency, multi-agency or multi-national environment. The system provides realistic command and leadership training and exercising for common crisis and emergency scenarios in an extremely cost-effective manner. Any combination of materials can be automatically fired into the exercise with additional injects created during the exercise to respond to the developing scenario including news video broadcasts and newspapers; SMS, and fax messages; web pages; scripts for telephone or radio calls.

5 Tablet Assessor Ensuring your incident commanders are fully trained and have the skill sets necessary to do an extremely pressurised job is obviously crucial for all fire and rescue services. But training is only one half of the equation. Being able to assess an incident commander - at whatever level - is essential to ensure the necessary skill sets are maintained throughout the service, as well as helping to identify any further training needs. An assessment tool must be objective, it must be consistently repeatable and it must be simple to use. The Tablet Assessor meets all of these criteria and hugely complements the touchscreen technology at the centre of Vector CTA. Embedded Assessment Form used to capture the candidate s responses and feedback post-assessment. This can be locked and saved against the candidate s profile capturing it for as long as is required. Decision Log allows an assessor to record a short video or audio clip of either the candidate or themselves, which can also be saved against the candidate s assessment. If the assessor is in the same room as the candidate s/he could even use the rear facing camera on the tablet to capture both the candidate and screen. Adding this tablet wirelessly to your existing Vector laptop allows you to control all aspects of the system, using the in-built touch functionality for which it was designed. This really increases the flexibility of the system, as there is no need to run a cable to connect the Vector laptop to a screen or projector. Using the camera module, the facilitator can not only view exactly the 3D image the candidate is viewing but can also move the candidate s view removing the need for a joystick. Talking heads (video conversations) can be sent to the candidate from the tablet, as well as any supporting pictures and images adding to the realism and immersion. The Vector CTA Tablet Assessor is a great addition to the popular Vector system and supports how it was always designed to be used. It allows for easier setup and facilitation and even more importantly delivers the essential ability to assess your commanders objectively. Video Capture as the 3D simulator view is being played in the camera module, at any time the assessor could take a screen capture of what is on screen to show the candidate as part of the post-assessment review. Again this could be annotated and saved against the candidate s profile.

The 3D editing tool gives you access to a wide selection of scenario templates, so you can change the look and feel of the scenarios. What elements can be changed in the scenario templates? The Facilitator is able to select what the buildings look like, as well as the types and locations of hazards, time of day and wind conditions, to give dramatically different-looking scenarios. Can I decide where the fire or risk is located? There are a number of pre-determined locations for the fire and risk types including HazMat, which you can select from in advance. Can I choose how many casualties are in the scenario? Yes, you can control the number and position of casualties from a pre-determined list.
