Preface Kony Engagement Services Database gives you an overall idea of Kony MobileFabric Engagement Services Database system requirements, setup, and configuration procedures. The document details all steps required to set up the Kony MobileFabric Engagement Services SQL Server Database.The database allows you to send notifications to multiple platforms (for example, iphone, Android, BlackBerry, and Windows). 1.1 Purpose The document describes the setup and configuration of Kony MobileFabric Engagement Services database. 1.2 Intended Audience The document is intended for database administrators and other technical personnel responsible for setting up and maintaining Kony MobileFabric Engagement Services Database. 1.3 Formatting Conventions Used in this Guide The following are the typographical conventions used throughout the document: Conventions Explanation Monospace User input text, system prompts and responses File path Commands Program code File names by Kony, Inc. 7 2. Introduction Kony MobileFabric Engagement Services 2. Introduction Kony Engagement Services provides a generic notification service that allows you to send push notifications/sms/ and passes to multiple platforms (for example, iphone, Android, BlackBerry, and Windows). You can use the engagement services single interface, without worrying about the requirements for individual platforms (for example, formatting, status query, and retry on failure) by Kony, Inc. 8 3. Prerequisites Prerequisites for installing the Engagement Services Database for SQL Server: 1. Only a qualified SQL Server Database administrator (DBA) must handle the SQL Server Database setup to successfully complete the Engagement Services database deployment. 2. SQL Server software must be installed and basic database already have been created to continue with Engagement Services database schema setup. 3. Database collation needs to be set for a database. This is possible while creating a database with your required language as database collation. For example, use Database collation as Arabic_100_CI_AS for Arabic language support. Similarly for other languages use appropriate collation for support. Use SQL Server Management Studio to create a database with the name as kpnsdb and with appropriate collation support. Read this information to understand the system requirements and necessary softwares before installing Engagement Services database. 3.1 Hardware Requirements (Per Physical Instance) Component Requirement Processor Dual core 2.2 MHz Memory 8 GB Internal storage 73 GB (15K RPM) with 2 drives (Raid 1) Network 1 GB Ethernet ports IP configuration Statically assigned IP addressing Operating system Linux/Sun Solaris, IBM AIX, Windows 2013 by Kony, Inc. 9 3.2 Software System Requirements (Per Physical Instance) Purpose Server Name Database software SQL Server 2008 onwards 3.3 Scripts for Kony database setup The database scripts are available in the SQL_Server-scripts.tar file on Kony Developer Portal at: Navigate to the appropriate major GA version, and download the files. Approximate time for Engagement Services Database setup: 30 mins (excluding SQL Server software installation). 3.4 Approach for Engagement Services Database Setup To perform the Engagement Services database setup, follow this order: 1. Finally, Web-App servers and JDBC configuration 3.5 Database Setup You can perform the database setup by executing the script files : SQL Server Database folder contains the SQL_Server-scripts.tar file. For more detail about how to execute the SQL Server DB script files, see We assume that the SQL_Server-scripts.tar file is copied to and extracted at some location on the system. Here after the location where the file is copied/extracted is referred to as <File_ Location>. 3.6 Steps for Database Setup Perform the following tasks to set up the database: 1. Log in to the host machine/server, which has access to the SQL Server instance and navigate to the location of the script files by Kony, Inc. All rights reserved 10 of 19

11 2. Using SQL Server Management Studio, create the database with the name KPNSDB with appropriate collation support in your SQL Server instance. You also must create a database login dbclient with SQL Server authentication, which will own all of the KPNSDB database and its schemas. 3. Execute scripts using SQL Server Management Studio s query editor or using the sqlcmd client. For sqlcmd method follow the following steps. > cd <File_Location> > sqlcmd -S "<IP/hostname\SQLSERVER-instancename>"-U dbclient - P "kony123" Note: Use either IP address or <hostname\sqlserver-instance name> while connecting to SQL Server using sqlcmd,also please note the password used here is default, please use actual password while executing the commands. 4. Execute the following script files.these scripts creates kpnsdb objects, cluster controller objects, and passbook objects in kpnsdb schema. :r "SQL_Server_KPNSDB_Create.sql" :r "SQL_Server_KPNSDB_View.sql" :r "SQL_Server_STORED_PROCS.sql" :r "SQL_Server_STORED_FUNCS.sql" :r "SQL_Server_MASTER_DATA.sql" 3.7 Engagement Services Database Job Configuration There are two options for Engagement Services database job configuration Option 1 When the above script is executed successfully, enable the SQL Server Agent and configure KPNS jobs in your SQL Server Database environment with SQL Server Management Studio, using the following T-SQL commands by Kony, Inc. 12 USE [kpnsdb] GO int = [dbo].[proc_report_events] SELECT 'proc_report_events Return Value ' GO = 1 = [dbo].[proc_report_events] SELECT 'proc_report_events Return Value ' GO Option 2 You can also configure the Engagement Services reports job as a windows scheduler task (if SQL Server is running on the Windows operating system). To set up the Windows scheduler task, follow these steps: 1. Copy job file ${installationdir}/job/kpns_job.bat to your Windows desktop. 2. Copy job file ${installationdir}/job/ SQL_KPNSDB_JOB_ SCHEDULE.sql to your Windows desktop by Kony, Inc. All rights reserved 12 of 19

13 3. Open Task Scheduler from Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Task Scheduler. 4. Click the Create Task option under the Actions column to create a new task by Kony, Inc. All rights reserved 13 of 19

14 The Create Task window appears. The Create Task window includes five tabs: General, Triggers, Actions, Conditions and Settings. By default, the General tab is set to active. 5. General: Under the General tab, enter the task name as KMS Report Job by Kony, Inc. All rights reserved 14 of 19

15 6. Triggers: Under the Triggers tab, click New. i. Create a schedule that runs at 02:00 a.m. daily. ii. Click Ok to continue by Kony, Inc. All rights reserved 15 of 19

18 8. Program/Script: Click Browse to select thekpns_job.bat. file from your system. 9. Click Ok to create a new task. 3.8 Database Setup Verification Important: Ignore this step, if you are not using Session Based License. Run the following commands to check if the deployment is successful and all the objects are created successfully by Kony, Inc. All rights reserved 18 of 19
