This intensive six month course will give you the essential skills sets in typography, photo-imaging design processes, colour theory, illustration using industry standard software. It will allow you to explore and experiment through the design process. The course is delivered in state of the art facilities using Macintosh computers by teachers who have extensive experience in the design industry. Entry requirements There are no entry requirements for this qualification. Pathways into the qualification It is recommended that people entering this qualification possess either CUV30311 Certificate III in Design Fundamentals, or CUV30311 Certificate III in Design Fundamentals (Graphic Design) or possess some creative and design skills. A suitability test to ensure the appropriate course entry point will be held on campus prior to commencement New enrolments Select your preferred campus to enrol. If you would prefer to enrol in person, or online enrolment is not available for your course, please visit your chosen campus or call See Enrolling and registering for more information on enrolling in a Government Subsidised course. Please note that in addition to your formal training you may need to allow for additional study time. Your teacher will guide you in what is appropriate for you. 2 To be eligible for the Smart and Skilled subsidised fee you must be an Australian or NZ citizen, permanent resident or humanitarian visa holder. You must also be over 15, no longer at school, and live or work in NSW. See our Smart and Skilled page for full details. The subsidised fees shown below are indicative only. What you will actually pay depends on your individual circumstances.you will be able to estimate your fee before completing your application or enrolment. Fully subsidised training Some part qualifications or prevocational training will be fully subsidised by the NSW Government under Smart and Skilled. These fee-free courses range from short preparatory programs to advanced skill sets for priority groups and industries. Full fee If you are not eligible for subsidised training, you can still choose to enrol in the course but will need to pay the full (non-subsidised) fee. If you are granted recognition of prior learning or credit transfer for one or more units in this qualification, your student fee will be reduced. Course related charges You may be required to pay a course related charge in addition to the course fee. Course related charges cover the cost of materials, resources, equipment or services you may need to participate in your course. Unique Student Identifier (USI) All students studying a nationally recognised qualification must have a Unique Student Identifier before enrolling. Course outcomes Career options There may be some employment opportunities as a junior design assistant,
3 working in the graphic and digital design sectors. Future study options Successful completion of this qualification provides a pathway into the Diploma of Graphic Design and Bachelor of Graphic Design delivered by The Northern Sydney Institute in partnership with University of Canberra. TAFE NSW courses run only if there is sufficient demand and resources. No prior knowledge is expected in software, an interest in art or design is desirable. Outcomes are suitable for progression into Diploma of Graphic Design. The industry standard for graduate recognition is Diploma and above, we don t expect maximum employment opportunities at Cert 4 level. The level of knowledge and skills is a major challenge for those with mental disabilities. It is recommended they complete Cert 3 prior to enrolment in Cert 4. This course is delivered in 1 semester over 3 days of the week totalling 18 hours. Additional self directed hours will be required from time to time. Other offering information: Classes commence 11th July After enrolment, an orientation session will take place 11th July Please come to Hornsby Campus K Block gallery at 10am. At the orientation session you will be provided with detailed information about the course you are enrolled in, obtain a timetable and other admin tasks.
