Dr. Ahmet TOLUNAY Süleyman Demirel University Forest Department WORKSHOP AIM AND SUBJECT The 12th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 12) to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) (Ankara COP12) will be held at October 2015 in Ankara. We are going toward a global convention with the other 191 party countries in the UNFCCC framework. The convention that is expected to become definitive this year at Paris and to introduce the mechanism to combat global climate change after 2020, will affect several party countries, including our country and international markets. Thus, what s the situation in our country s forestry and land use sectors? How will be the transition to low carbon economy? In which measure Forestry and Agriculture sectors can contribute to climate change? How to go over the bottlenecks? Our aim is to boost works ensuring progress in land use sector from carbon management perspective and to treat the sector with all factors in order to answer these questions. We are waiting to our workshop all stakeholders related to the subject.

2 WORKSHOP CONTENTS In sessions where subject is not indicated, attendees will express their views and discuss within moderator management. There is the possibility to make short presentations in each session. A short summary prepared for presentation proposals can be sent to these addresses: serengil@istanbul.edu.tr or ahmettolunay@sdu.edu.tr. Every kind of audiovisual presentation and communication tool is available in the workshop hall. It s possible to attend as simple listener. Invitation letter will be prepared in order to facilitate authorization to people desiring to get registered. WHO SHOULD ATTEND TO THE WORKSHOP? Scientifics running carbon related researches about Agriculture, Forestry, Pasture, Wetland, Settlement and other land uses, Persons running politic, jurisdictional and economic works about Land Use and Climate Change Persons wanting to give or to get information about carbon certification and land use Carbon counseling companies NGO s running or planning to run carbon related projects Persons working or wanting to get information about climate change et carbon management Graduate and post graduate students interested on the subjects in contents and motivated to work on them Public agencies employees and representatives related to the subject, taking place or not in the organization Persons interested about ecosystem services and particularly about carbon retention subjects
