1 CFSA SUPERCOACH PROGRAM Competition Introduction Context Coaches working with competitive club programs and should enter the Supercoach Program. Supercoach is the next step from Club Coach and teaches athlete skills in the Can Freestyle "FREESTYLERZ" program. A coach would move on from Supercoach to the Competition Development program in their specific disciplines. This is the Learn To Train and Train To Train stages of CFSA s Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) system. PREREQUISITE: CLUB COACH TRAINED CFSA SPORT SPECIFIC MODULES Air 1&2 Acrobatics on Trampoline Air 3 A&B Water Ramp & Air Bag Air 4 A&B Acrobatics on Snow TSM 1 Freeskiing TSM 2 Moguls Park and Halfpipe Can start to coach Freestylerz skills to competitive club athletes in the disciplines the coach has been trained in NCCP MULTISPORT MODULES Must attend and complete evaluations where required: Teaching and Learning (Club Coach) Plan a Practice (Club Coach) Making Ethical Decisions (Club Coach) Design a Basic Sport Program Nutrition Basic Mental Skills NOTE: The above NCCP modules are offered locally by your Provincial Coaching Associations. Coaching level reached upon completion: Supercoach Trained EVALUATIONS FOR CERTIFICATION: TSM 1 Certified TSM 2 Certified Air 4B Certified Park & Pipe Certified Making Ethical Decisions Evaluation Competition On-Site Observation Coaching level reached upon completion: Supercoach Certified It is possible to attend the NCCP Multi-sport modules before any of the Supercoach Modules.

2 SUPERCOACH PROGRAM: COMPETITON INTRODUCTION CONTEXT The Supercoach modules are designed to provided a deeper scope of technical and theoretical knowledge for coaches while implementing effective learning for club level athletes through the new Can Freestyle Freestylerz Program. TECHNICAL SKI MODULE 1: FREESKIING Goal: Developing excellent freeskiing skills on groomed terrain and a basic knowledge of skiing mechanics. Equipment: Helmet, tuned skis Performance expectations: Two days of hard skiing, comfortable with dynamic parallel on black terrain. Prerequisites: CFSA membership license Equivalents: None How to find a course: Contact local PSO Number of Days: 2 TECHNICAL SKI MODULE 2: MOGULS Goal: Introduced competitive style Mogul skiing skills in wave and moguls, also introducing jumping in the moguls. Equipment: Helmet, recommended tuned narrow straight skis (under 95 mm underfoot) Performance expectations: Comfortable with advanced carved turns on black and off-piste terrain. Candidates must be able to carve in the wave and show good timing in the moguls Prerequisites: TSM 1 or CSIA level 2 or CSCF Entry level coach, CFSA membership license Equivalents: none How to find a course: Contact local PSO Number of Days: 2

3 PARK AND HALFPIPE MODULE Goal: Upon completion should be able to coach forward and switch spins in the Terrain Park up to 540 with a variety of take-offs and landings. A variety of techniques of rails and boxes, Halfpipe skills up to spinning 540s in both directions. Safety, and park etiquette will be covered. Equipment: Helmet, recommended tuned twin tip/park skis. Functioning bindings and ski brakes are required. Performance expectations: Candidates will be expected to demonstrate basic skills in halfpipe, rails and jumping. Prerequisites: Club Coach, CFSA membership license Equivalents: none How to find a course: Contact local PSO Recommended Cost: $350 CFSA AIR MODULE PATHWAY The Air Coach development system is applied to all of our disciplines: Moguls, Aerials, Slopestyle and Halfpipe. The following section describes the 4 modules and methodology of progressing through module 1-4.

4 NEW CFSA AIR COACH PATHWAY Part of the Competition Introduction SUPERCOACH Program CFSA is targeting to have the new Air Coach system fully implemented by May At that time the old Level 2 Air Coach and Air Qualifier Status will be obsolete. Coaches can only qualify their own athletes, this is currently in effect. The athlete skills taught in this program are used with the Freestylerz program. AIR 1: 2 DAYS GOAL: Coach acrobatic foundation skills on the trampoline. PREREQUISITES: CFSA membership + Get Evaluated = Air 1 CERTIFIED: You can coach skills on trampoline up to front tuck flip (no backs) AIR 4C / COMP DEV AIR DOUBLES: Program in development, currently evaluated only by CFSA Master Air Coaches GOALS: Coach double inverts on trampoline, air bag & snow in Freestyle Ski competition and training environments. AIR 2: 3 DAYS GOAL: Coach all on and off axis single flips with twists and spins on trampoline. PREREQUISITES: CFSA membership, Air 1 TRAINED or Gymnastic Canada Tramp 1 + Air 1 Certification + Get Evaluated = Air 2 CERTIFIED: You can coach up to on and off axis single flips with twists and spins on trampoline A CERTIFIED Air 3 coach may operate a water ramp and air bag training facility with PSO and CFSA approval AIR 3: 3 Days GOAL Coach on and off axis single flips with twists and spins on water ramp and air bag facility. PREREQUISITES: Air 2 Trained, CFSA membership +Air 1 & 2 Certification + Get Evaluated for either: = Air 3A CERTIFIED: You can coach & qualify up to Front & Back Tuck & Cork 720 on air bag and/or water ramp OR =Air 3B CERTIFIED: You can coach all on and off axis single flips with twists and spins on water ramp and/or air bag. AIR 4: 3 Days GOAL Coach on and off axis single flips with twists and spins on snow. PREREQUISITES: Air 3 Trained, CFSA membership +Air 1, 2 & 3 Certification + Get Evaluated for either: = Air 4A CERTIFIED: You can coach & qualify up to Front & Back Tuck & Cork 720 on snow. OR = Air 4B CERTIFIED: You can coach all on and off axis single flips with twists and spins on snow. A "CERTIFIED" Air 4 coach may operate an snow training facility with PSO and CFSA approval

5 AIR 1: BASIC ACROBATICS ON TRAMPOLINE Goal: Introduce acrobatic/tramp foundational skills for Freestyle Skiing. Performance expectations: Demonstrate basic uprights, hand, front knee, seat drop, and on and off axis invert progression moves. Prerequisites: CFSA membership license, good basic tramp skills (see skills at Equivalents: Gymnastics Canada Tramp 1 How to Find a Course: Contact local PSO Number of Days: 2 Equipment: Comfortable athletic clothing, full legs, no jeans. Coach Scope of Practice on Certification: Coach will be Trained Air 1 after completing full course. Coaches must pass a competency evaluation by an Air 1 LF/evaluator to supervise basic moves with no inverts teach up to Front Tuck Flips. Back tuck is part of Air 2. AIR 2: ADVANCED ACROBATICS ON TRAMPOLINE Goal: Teach advanced acrobatics/gymnastic skills up to twisting singles Performance Expectations: Understand basic tramp acrobatic mechanics and invert progressions. Are able to handspot athletes on trampoline for back tuck. Candidates will be asked to attempt inverted manouevres progressions, demonstrate knowledge of moves and progressions through coaching. (see skills at ) Prerequisites: Air 1 or Gymnastics Tramp 1, CFSA membership license Equivalents: Gymnastics Canada Tramp 2 + Air 2 Update (case by case basis) + Air 2 Evaluation How to Find a Course: Contact local PSO Recommended Cost: $350 Number of Days: 3 Equipment: Comfortable athletic clothing with full legs no jeans. Coach Scope of Practice on Certification: Coach will be a Trained Air 2 after completing full course. Coaches must pass a competency evaluation by an Air 2 LF/evaluator to supervise single inverts and hand spot Back Tuck Flips. Air 2 skills include Back & Front Tuck / Lay / Pike, Cork, Birani, Misty, Rodeo, Flat Spin, Lincoln Loop, Back Full and more. *Air 1 and 2 have been developed in cooperation with Gymnastics Canada and have been approved by CSA/CFSA for delivery to CFSA coaches. These courses will be delivered to various acrobatic sports in the future and it has been targeted to create facility access and certifications agreements through the Canadian Acrobatics Sports Group.

6 AIR 3: INTRODUCE AIR 2 SKILLS WITH SKIS IN A WATER RAMP OR AIR BAG TRAINING FACILITY Goal: Teach advanced acrobatics/gymnastic skills up to twisting singles on a water ramp and air bag facility. Performance Expectations: Have a good understanding of all air 2 moves and mechanics. Candidates will be asked, but not required, to attempt inverted manouevres and progression and demonstrate knowledge of moves and progressions through coaching. Prerequisites: Air 2, CFSA membership license Equivalents: Gymnastics Canada Tramp 2 + Air 2 update + CFSA evaluation How to Find a Course: Contact local PSO Number of Days: 3 (2 Air Bag + 1 Water OR 2 Water + 1 Air Bag) Equipment: Ski clothing, freestyle ski equipment, helmet, wet or dry suit, lifejacket for water, mouth guard recommended Coach Scope of Practice on Certification: Coach will be considered a Trained Air 3 after completing two days of the course in the environment they have taken the course in. Coaches must be trained in the environment they are coaching in e.g. must complete training at water ramp before coaching at a water ramp. Coaches must pass a competency evaluation by an Air 3 LF/Evaluator to supervise single inverts in air bag and water environments: An air 3 Coach may be certified and able to qualify athlete skills as one of the following: Air 3A Skills include: Front Tuck, Back Tuck, Cork 720. Air 3B skills include: all Air 3 A skills plus Back layout, Bio, Misty, Rodeo, Flat Spin, Flare/Underflip, Lincoln Loop, Back Full and any single flip skills. AIR MODULE 4: INTRODUCE AIR 2 SKILLS WITH SKIS ON SNOW Goal: Teach advanced acrobatics/gymnastic skills up to twisting singles in all environments on snow. Air 4 A and B can be delivered as separate courses. Performance Expectations: Have a good understanding of all air 2 moves and mechanics. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of moves and progressions and high quality risk management practices through coaching. Prerequisites: Air 3, CFSA membership license Equivalents: Level 2 Air Coach (OLD) + air 2 + Air 3 & 4 update. How to Find a Course: Contact local PSO or CFSA Recommended Cost: $350 Number of Days: Minimum 2 (1 Intro Skills + 1 (or more) advanced skills.) Equipment: Ski clothing, freestyle ski equipment, helmet

7 Coach Scope of Practice on Certification: Coach will be a Trained Air 4 after completing full course. Coaches must pass a competency evaluation by an Air 4 LF/evaluator to supervise single inverts on snow: An Air 4 Coach may be certified and able to qualify athlete as one of the following: Air 4A Skills include: Front Tuck, Back Tuck, Cork 720. Air 4B skills include: all Air 4A skills plus including Back layout, Bio, Misty, Rodeo, Flat Spin, Flare/Underflip, Lincoln Loop, Back Full and any single flip skills. For more information on the athlete air qualification process please go to: FINAL OBSERVATION FOR SUPERCOACH CERTIFICATION: ON-SITE IN COMPEITITON ENVIRONEMENT This final observation will take place on site during a competition. Best scenario: to have a CFSA Supercoach Evaluator who is already at the competition observe the coach candidate through the weekend and complete the evaluation form when he has time after the competition. See list of evaluators at If you don't see someone there that you think may be eligible or if you have any other question about certifications, contact coaches@freestyleski.com This A final quick debrief with the candidate is needed so they know what their status is and if they need to complete anything else. What needs to be done before to prepare for the Final Observation: all 7 Supercoach Comp Intro Technical modules as per the pathway on the 1st page all 6 NCCP Multisport Modules as per the pathway on the 1st page hand in their coach Portfolio / Workbook Contact your CFSA Supercoach Evaluators
