1 CZECH ANGLERS UNION, registerd association North Bohemian Anglers Union Czech Anglers Union, r.a.( ČRS z.s.),north Bohemian Anglers Union, Salmon reintroduction program in Czech rep. - LOSOS 2000 Presents : Ing. Miloš Urych, chairman, North Bohemian Anglers Union, Kontakt : ing.milos.urych@seznam.cz Mobil : SALMON Page 1
2 INTRODUCTION : The situation in the clearness of the Czech part of Elbe river and its tributaries from the perspective of migration of salmons was changed. Transverse obstacles - weirs in the past were built to improve the navigability of waterways, mostly of the Elbe river. In addition to locks were built simultaneously on weirs hydroelectric power stations. At that time it was built disregard the migration permeability for fish. Recently comes under the state program to fulfill fish ladders where they are missing. Currently from point of view of migration permeability to Elbe River are located on the Elbe river 54 weirs, on the Ohře river 13 weirs, up to Nechranice water reservoir, on the Ploučnice river 20 weirs, and 10 weirs on the Kamenice river. For migrating salmons are important weirs on the rivers Kamenice, Ohře, the lower reaches Ploučnice and in the future on the Elbe river. Due to the existence of reservoirs on the Vltava river it has lost its importance for migrating salmons, although in the past Vltava river was with its tributaries ( Otava ) in the upper part of the river a major salmon river. Bílina river lost its importance during the 2nd World War, because of considerable industrial pollution. Page 2
