4 Tutor profiles Dr Billy Hare School of Enineerin and Built Environment, Glasow Caledonian University PhD, BSc (Hons), BA, MCIOB Billy Hare has a PhD in construction manaement (H&S Thesis); BSc (Hons) in Construction Manaement and Enineerin, and a BA in Occupational Health and Safety. He joined GCU in 2002, after a career in construction contractin. Since then, he has spent the last 13 years undertakin research work on several HSE, IOSH, EPSRC and CITB-Construction Skills funded projects. His research portfolio is exclusively focussed on the manaement of occupational health and safety within the construction industry. Billy is currently a Reader in Construction Manaement for the School of Enineerin and Built Environment at GCU, and also lectures within the school, coverin construction manaement and health and safety topics. In addition, he is an approved tutor for CITB and IOSH trainin. Billy has written several research papers and industry uidance documents (includin a CITB module for their publication GE700 and Worker Enaement for CDM 2007) and was part of the expert panel for Principal Desiner uidance for CDM He has authored several online CPD courses on the subject of construction health and safety, and is currently a member of the CIOB National Health and Safety Committee. 5 Tutor profiles Tony Putsman Director, Xenophon Project Services Limited/ Construction Team Technoloies Ltd BSc (Hons), MICE, CEn, AIEMA A qualified civil enineer, and experienced project manaer, Tony developed a keen interest in the people aspect of construction whilst workin for major companies such as Taylor Woodrow, Kier International and Jarvis Construction. Since raduatin in 1974, he has worked across all the major sectors of the construction industry, movin from a hands-on project delivery role into a trainin and development specialist. He is now a leadin advocate of team-based risk manaement. Tony set up his own risk manaement consultancy in 2002 and is currently workin with clients in the enery, rail, off-shore, house buildin and refurbishment sectors. He promotes a strateic approach to project risk manaement throuh enhanced collaborative workin. 6 Tutor profiles Liz Bennett Director, Habilis Health and Safety Solutions Ltd BSc CEn MICE PGCE CMIOSH FRSA Liz has worked mainly on lon-term projects with repeat clients, and latterly on blocks of interim assinments with local and central overnment. Other projects have included the London 2012 Olympic Games. Liz is particularly keen to enable others to understand how to manae risk professionally and sensibly. Challene and empowerment are important. Liz is currently workin with the University of the West of Enland on research projects relatin to BIM (Buildin Information Modellin) and construction health and safety. She is also workin on various knowlede transfer projects relatin to brownfield site manaement and to property manaement, includin outdoor spaces and spaces accessed by members of the public.
