2 Investors: Tarja Teppo, Cleantech Invest Tarja Teppo (MSc in Engineering, PhD in Tech) is the co-founder of Cleantech Invest, a Nordic investment company founded in Cleantech Invest (CTI) currently has 13 cleantech companies in its portfolio. Jarkko Penttilä, Conor Venture Partners Conor invests in early stage technology companies with the potential and drive to become global winners in their industry categories. We look for early stage businesses with protectable core technology and global ambition. Our investments are typically within ICT, electronics, embedded systems, and new materials & optics. Tuomas Suurpää, Finnfund Finnfund is a Finnish development finance company that provides long-term risk capital for private companies in developing countries and Russia. Apart from coinvesting with Finnish companies we can finance ventures that use Finnish technology, cooperate with Finnish partners on a long-term basis or generate major environmental or social benefits. Our funding can be in the form of equity capital, mezzanine financing or longterm investment loans. Regardless of the form of financing, we always participate with a minority stake. Our investment size is 1-10 milj. EUR.
3 Janne Juhola, Finnvera Finnvera is a specialised financing company owned by the State of Finland. It provides its clients with loans, guarantees, venture capital investments and export credit guarantees. Finnvera's Venture Capital Investments serve as the hub for public early-stage venture capital investments. Sami Lampinen, Inventure We at Inventure focus on venture capital. We identify, work with, and create value in highly innovative high-tech companies in Finland and Scandinavia. We develop start-ups based on breakthrough inventions into globally successful companies, such as Rightware, Canatu, Beneq, Conmio, Valon Lasers and Merus Power. We are based in Helsinki and Shanghai. Jukka Aaltonen, Sitra Sitra invests in businesses that promote health and well-being, solve social problems in society, improve material and energy efficiency, speed up the smart use of natural resources, promote an ecological way of life. Investments typically are in the range of 300,000 1 million euros and Sitra aims at a minority ownership of 10-30% in the first financing round. In addition to good financial returns, Sitra looks for skilled management and competitive technology, products or services. Sitra always seeks other investors to co-invest in each company. Juha Lehtola, Suomen Teollisuussijoitus Oy Juha Lehtola is Investment Director at Finnish Industry Investment s direct VC investment team. Finnish Industry Investment invests in the growth and internationalisation of Finnish businesses. We provide promising companies with capital, expertise and networks for growing in international markets. Our investment focus is on companies in the growth and internationalisation stages. We invest in the most promising companies that have potential to generate value.
4 Our investments are part of a financing package, put together with, and on the same terms as private investors. Typical co-investors are private venture capitalists and institutional investors. In every case, we are minority shareholders, and our share of the total investment round cannot exceed 50%. We make investments through different financial instruments such as equity, subordinated loans, convertible bonds or mezzanine financing. Our initial investment size varies between 0,5 million to 10 million euros. We invest on market terms, seeking a return on all our investments. We are a long-term, active owner. We participate in business development alongside our private co-investors, mainly via board activities. When necessary, we can also participate in further financing rounds. We aim to exit the investment with other owners in an agreed time span. Tero Luoma, Taaleritehdas Private Equity Funds Tero Luoma works as an Investment Director at Taaleritehdas Private Equity Funds. Taaleritehdas Private Equity Funds is an opportunistic private equity investor with current investment capacity circa EUR 600 million. We have a special interest in cleantech and renewable energy. With our Wind Power Funds, we are one of the biggest wind power investors in Finland. Our Biotehdas builds a country-wide net of biogas plants in Finland and Watrec Oy, a biogas technology company, is strongly going global. We focus on later stage companies and projects with proven concept, not on start-ups or VC. A combination of a technology company with references and a portfolio of projects is ideal for us. Anssi Vanjoki Anssi Vanjoki is professor in Lappeenranta University of Technology, chairman and board member of several publicly listed companies. Anssi is also chairman and board member of some privately held companies and anchor investor and chairman of a number of technology start up companies. Anssi has mostly invested in sports and wellbeing related technology companies and some energy and clean tech start ups. For over 30 years Anssi held high profile operative executive positions in Nokia and 3M corporation. Today he is Individual Multicontributor with several areas of interests with digitalization as the common denominator.
