Employment Opportunities for Adults with Learning Disabilities and Mental Health Issues A report outlining the projected spend for Adult Social Care and the savings required over the next five years. How will Adult Social Care balance growing demand for services with budgetary savings? Some Authorities have introduced a cap e.g. Worcestershire CC/ Essex CC in order to avoid the Barnet graph of doom. But what preparations has WF made, especially in light of the Redefining Waltham Forest project? How does the LA intend to balance costs in light of the expectations laid out in the Care Bill and what services will be in place to support the elderly. Item suggested at mtg. Following a discussion on the Performance Data and the key performance indicator ASC 6 % of adults in contact with secondary mental health services in paid employment being off target, it was suggested the sub-committee may wish to explore in more detail the issues facing Adults with learning disabilities and mental health problems. Briefing on the progress the Council and its partners have made in relation to the recommendations identified in the Winterbourne View enquiry. A themed meeting examining how individuals and their families are supported when a loved one is facing death. The type and range of services provided from a health and social care perspective i.e. access to palliative care, the right to choose where to die - at home, hospital/ hospice/ residential care home. The quality of information and advice provided to families accessing services provided by the Local Authority. e.g. the registering of a death and what happens if someone dies without making a Will. Funeral Poverty ITEMS 3 and 4 were part of a themed meeting to look at End of Life Care and were scheduled for the 20 th November mtg. (now 6 th Nov) However due to other urgent matters these items have been placed on the unallocated list. Or if someone has died without any next of kin? The report should set out the national and local context, the legislation governing whose responsibility it is for the burial costs and issues faced by the Council. Is there growing demand on Council services? Two case studies to be provided highlighting scenario s where the council has been responsible for the costs.
