2 Corporate/Departmental 2. SPECIALISED MANDATORY TRAINING 2.1 CTG 172 midwives All medical staff RCOG e learning programme. Approx 15 hours over the course of a year. Repeated every 5 years Staff to undertake in own time To ensure all staff are skilled at interpreting CTG monitoring. Competency assessment ot be undertaken. 70% pass mark with 3 attempts before capability policy considered. Compliance monitored through annual supervisory appraisal PDR process revalidation process for medical staff. 2.2 Obstetric Skills & Drills Further develop in house programme with MDT team to meet higher dem on complex Obstetric needs within one area of the Health Board To include: 1. Risk Management 2. Shoulder Dystocia 3. Major Obstetric Haemorrhage 4. Breech Delivery 5. Cord Prolapse 6. Pregnancy Induced Hypertension 7. CTG interpretation 8. Adult Resuscitation 9. Infant Resuscitation 10. Sepsis/anaphylaxis MEOWS 172 midwives All medical staff In-house teaching programme incorporating clinical simulation. 2 2 trainers. Equipment to support simulation models. To ensure all staff are skilled at dealing with obstetric emergencies underst importance of team working communication within these situations To ensure all staff are skilled at Adult Newborn resuscitation

Essential updates for all midwives To keep in line with NMC All staff will be trained in appropriate manual hling techniques. Facilitated by University of Glam organ Consultant midwife Maggie Davies Further development support with Swansea University over coming year midwifery lead for normality. 30 midwives In-house in conjunction with Swansea University 4 Workshops at 4 hours at a time. Further 1 day for all staff through the year rotating into these areas. 5 days taught Competency based portfolio clinical placement External 500 per 4 hour workshop. 4 Workshops planned to complete. Further workshops through the year from contract with Swansea University Contract with university Skilled competent staff able to clearly evidence support clinical practice decision making around midwifery normality role model. Course content needs to be agreed with the University in preparation for the complex unit in line with the Clinical Service Strategy. This course provides the midwives with the opportunity to develop clinical knowledge skills in early detection

If staff are unable to attend a specific date, the midwife has to organise another date by changing with another midwife. All midwives have to attend the study days are not an optional extra all non-attendees must be followed up. Supervisors of midwives to identify whether all days have been attended in annual appraisal withhold Notification of Practice until complete. Training database to be maintained by lead in each county. 4. Provide WHRP with report re RCOG compliance against CNO/CMO directive. 5. Undertake succession planning exercise to map current staff skills identify gaps where is required to undertake the role. 6. Work with University to develop implement work-based learning passport for key skills by June
