5 4 tenses 12 The simple present is used when something happens regularly. ex.: I clean my room every Monday. The present perfect is used when something has just happened and you can still see/taste/smell... the result. ex.: I ve just cleaned my room. The simple past is used when something happened some time ago in the past. ex.: I cleaned my room last Monday. Now try to decide whether to use present perfect, simple present or simple past. Fill in the correct tense! Tim and Jenny are talking about tennis. Both (to love) have loved tennis since they were eight years old. It is true, both (to be) are proud of the match that they (to win) won together last Saturday. It (to be) was a mixed, and they (to play) played against Judy and Marc. Judy and Marc (to be) are the best players of their club. But they (not / to play) haven t played well for weeks. Tim (to wonder) wonders what (to be) is wrong with them. Mandy (to think) thinks that Marc still (to love) loves playing tennis, but that Judy (not / to like) doesn t like it any more.
