4 4 The Continuum Of Responsibility/Irresponsibility Responsible Thinking takes responsibility in all areas of life shows consideration to others chooses to do what is best for others and self Irresponsible Thinking makes excuses and won t take responsibility lies, manipulates, and puts forth little or no effort is unreliable, late, and won t fulfill obligations Arrestable Thinking strongly resists taking any responsibility is a loner, secretive, and considers self as better than others breaks rules, commits crime, when possible, without getting caught Extreme Arrestable Thinking accepts no responsibility; must beat the system at all costs concerned with self, self, self does anything to get own way criticizes, blames or harms others; breaks the law as a way of life My Thought Journal Instructions Keeping a thought journal means taking time to write out my personal thoughts every day. So, I will choose any time during the day and write truthfully about whatever I am thinking at that time. I will also write about any of my unacceptable behavior that day. I will list the facts about the situation. Then I will list at least 2 tactics I used and a corrective for each tactic. I will also write my thoughts about the situation and my feelings and attitude about the situation. I will make a special note of any risky thoughts, beliefs, or feelings. After I have written all my thoughts, I will read over my journal. I will check myself to see if my thoughts are helping me show respect to others and helping me to earn self-respect. I do not need to change my thought journal. I will use it to keep my thoughts in check, and to measure my progress. Signature Just Thinking, a Truthought Publication
