3 Lisbon is becoming one of the most popular cities for young graffiti artists with wide spaces dedicated to these artists where they can express their creativity. Façades of abandoned buildings are literally covered by huge graffiti. However, graffiti writers have recently painted a space unusual even for them, six floors of the Chão do Loureiro parking garage in the central and popular neighbourhood of Mouraria. This thanks to a project by the company EMEL and the local government that have hired five artists, Miguel Januário, Mar, Nomen, Paulo Arraiano and Ram, to decorate the garage walls giving them an opportunity to vent their creativity. Each of them has expressed different themes: the many faces of Lisbon, a sort of primitive writing inspired by earth goddesses of Greek and Roman mythology, parallel worlds dominated by water and characters of popular imagination mixed with the heroes of Greek mythology. Together these artists have created a collective work of art bringing to life an ordinary space so far considered as a parking space and nothing else.
