He has directed 6 feature films; The Last Lieutenant (1993), Zero Kelvin (1995), Aberdeen (2000), The Beautiful Country (2004), Comrade Pedersen (2006) and A Somewhat Gentle Man (2010) and he holds a BFA in Film from Emerson College (1978). Both The Beautiful Country and A Somewhat Gentle Man was in Berlin International Film Festival Competition in 2004 and Hans Petter was an exchange student in Grosse Pointe, Michigan as a sixteen year old, and returned to the US to study film.

He has directed several award-winning shorts, including An Embrace nominated for a European Film Award in Vogt has also had a successful screenwriting career, working with Joachim Trier on many films, including the features Reprise (2006) and Oslo, August 31st (2011, official selection in Cannes). Vogt s most recent work as a director was for the groundbreaking, darkly comic and award-winning Norwegian TV-series Out in Our Garden. But when Reodor builds the world s most powerful snow cannon, it ends up in the hands of Freeman Pløsen, editor of the Flåklypa Gazette. Above all things in this world, Pløsen wants a record snowfall, and Solan and Ludvig must take action. On their own.
