1 Overview For new MINI vehicles, with the Bluetooth hands free kit with USB Audio Interface (option code 6ND) or Bluetooth mobile preparation with USB Audio Interface (option code 6NE) telephony and audio player functionality of compatible mobile s is fully integrated in the vehicle and can be operated via the vehicle's control elements.* The following tables list selected mobile s tested by the BMW Group and the evaluation of their interoperability with option code 6ND/6NE. Please note, that there are different tables, depending on the selected vehicle configuration: Table 1a: Radio MINI Visual BOOST (option code 6FP) or Navigation System Business (option code 606) with Bluetooth mobile preparation with USB Audio Interface (option code 6NE) Table 1b: Radio MINI Visual BOOST (option code 6FP) or Navigation System Business (option code 606) with Bluetooth hands free kit with USB Audio Interface (option code 6ND) Table 2: Radio MINI BOOST (option Code 6FC) with Bluetooth hands free kit with USB Audio Interface (option code 6ND) or Bluetooth mobile preparation with USB Audio Interface (option code 6NE) Please find more information regarding audio player functionality (option code 6ND, 6NE) on The information on compatibility in this table refers exclusively to current new vehicles (vehicles with production date August 2010 or later). Contact your MINI Service Centre or the BMW hotline for detailed information on compatibility for vehicles with an earlier production date. For a better overview, the functions supported by a mobile in combination with the MINI mobile preparations with Bluetooth interface assigned to a function group and evaluated with regard to support and reliability. The function groups are explained below. For fault-free operation of the mobile inside the vehicle in combination with option code 6NE, the BMW Group recommends the use of a snap-in adapter to ensure that the mobile is secured safely, that it is charged and connected with the external antenna. However, the electromagnetic field intensity inside the vehicle can only be minimized for mobile s with a connector for an external antenna. For selected mobile s, the BMW Group offers USB-Snap-In Adapters (only in combination with option code 6NE), that additionally connect the USB port of the mobile with the vehicle. An USB Snap-In Adapter additionally allows to access to audio files stored on a mobile. The tables below shows for which mobile s a USB Snap-In Adapter is available. 2 Premises As the application of the Bluetooth standard differs considerably from one mobile model to another and can also vary over the course of the product lifecycle of the model, functions may be impaired inside the vehicle, and the BMW Group cannot accept responsibility for this. Please note that the information on compatibility always refers to a specific software status for a mobile. In addition to the mobile software status, compatibility may also be influenced by the following factors: Hardware version of the mobile configuration (e.g. size of contacts database, energysaving mode, ) Operating status of the mobile (e.g. battery charge, length of operation, degree of usage, ) Network and SIM card For this reason, sporadic impairment of functions cannot be ruled out, even in the case of mobile s which otherwise function reliably. Where the software status of a mobile model was known to be incompatible at the time of creation of this document, this is indicated in the column " model with this symbol. Please observe the notes on the following pages. Support If your mobile does not work properly with the BMW preparation for mobile with Bluetooth interface, it could be because the software status of your mobile is incompatible. If failure of this nature occurs, deactivate the audio streaming functionality in the car. (2) After long, intensive use of the, Bluetooth connectivity cannot be re-established automatically. If this happens, switch off the mobile briefly and then switch it on again or briefly remove the mobile 's battery. (3) Nokia E and N series: Bluetooth pairing is via the 'Media' menu, not the 'Tele' menu (4) With RIM Blackberry s operated in Enterprise mode, functionality in the vehicle depends on the access rights conferred by the company: the settings within the "Bluetooth Policy Group must correspond to the standard settings specified by RIM. (5) There have been rare reports of sporadic failure of the Bluetooth connection. If failure of this nature occurs, restart the mobile and re-establish the Bluetoothconnection from the Control Display. - Call lists from the mobile - Privacy mode (6) The previous caller ID is displayed by anonymous incoming calls. (7) It could happen that the call number is replaced with stars (8) There have been rare reports of sporadic failure of the Bluetooth connection. This occurs often when the is in the idle-mode. The reconnects automatically. (1) SIM tele book not supported - Support for contacts saved in the mobile 's memory - All contacts in the mobile contacts list with at least one number are transferred (2) For the correct display of addresses on the Control Display, only the first field dedicated to the street name should be filled (3) After first connection setup access to book has to be granted on the mobile Tele book - Support for all numbers of each contact - Support for categories assigned to individual numbers (Home, Work, ) Optional scope - Support for the tele book contacts stored on the SIM card - Support for the sort-order sequence setting (first name / last name) On some mobile models (e.g. from Apple, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, RIM and Motorola), the sort sequence displayed in the vehicle (e.g. "Sorting by last name") can be influenced by the sort sequence adjustment on the mobile. A precondition here is that the constituents of the name in the mobile are correctly assigned to the first name or last name field. If the mobile offers only one field for the complete name it is important to ensure that the comma is correctly used as separator if necessary, in other words <first_name>, <last_name> or <first_name> <last_name> Calendar and tasks - Transfer of calendar entries and task-list entries in the current time window from the mobile Optional scope - Support for due dates for tasks - Transfer of meeting participants Time zone, time and date must be set correctly in the vehicle and on the mobile. (1) Some mobile s require explicit confirmation of data access on the mobile after the connection has been set up. (2) Due date for tasks is not supported with some SonyEricsson mobile s (e.g. K850i, C902). (1) It might be necessary to start the audio player application manually at the end device. If failure of this nature occurs, deactivate the audio streaming functionality in the car. (5) The current track over total track number is not supported by the mobile. - Use of the audio player integrated in the mobile via the USB interface parallel to tele operation via Bluetooth - Access to the functions (select / start / pause / next/last title / fast forward/reverse / display track titles) by means of the in-car controls - Display track titles - CoverArts are transferred and saved in the music file - Random play Only in combination with option code 6FL. After connecting the mobile with the vehicle via USB cable, please consult the display on your mobile. It is recommended to couple the mobile before connecting the audio player. Windows Media Player version 11 is recommended for synchronising the mobile with music tracks; in this context it is important to ensure that the synchronisation mode corresponds to the recommended USB mode (MTP or Mass Storage Class; see right-hand column). (1) Mass Storage is the only mode supported. This mode might have to be selected explicitly on the mobile. The function might be available only in combination with an external memory card. (2) Music is not resumed after ending a call (3) Fast Forward / Rewind not supported (4) Last User Mode (LUM) not supported (5) After Mute / un-mute the music title starts to play from the beginning again (6) After car ignition On device should be re-connected over USB-cable (7) In combination with option code 6NF it is recommended to use the device in the Mass Storage Modus (1) No knocking tone can be heard over car speakers Call holding / conference - Toggling between a maximum of 2 parallel calls via MMI - Conference switch Addresses - Transfer of the addresses (business, private, ) listed for each contact in the mobile - RIM Blackberry mobile s: the visitor address is not transferred in full Contact photos - Transfer of the photos matched to contacts in the mobile for in-car display - Transfer of contact photos is not supported by all mobile s; some mobile s transfer the photos as tiny thumbnails and mirrored. After the text messages have been downloaded, the status for all downloaded text messages is set to "read" in the mobile. - With some mobile s, special characters might not be transmitted correctly. - Sony Ericsson C702, C902, C905, W705 and W902 mobile s: Text messages are not displayed in the vehicle unless " memory" is selected in the mobile settings as the destination for saving text messages. - It might take a considerable time to download text messages, depending on the number of messages stored in the mobile. - The maximum number of text messages is limited. Memos - Support for memos saved in the mobile 's memory - The transmission of memos is not supported by all mobile s.
