4 Cold Roof: Ventilated Earthwool Loft Roll 44 Earthwool Loft Roll 44 Joist Generic BRE Green Guide Rating Plasterboard A flexible, glass mineral wool roll used for the thermal insulation of pitched roofs. Earthwool Loft Roll 44 is normally laid in two layers between and over the ceiling joists. The insulation should be taken over the wall plate to link up with the wall insulation. All joints between the insulation to be close butted. The insulation should be pushed up tight against the roof tile underlay if no ventilation is required or tight to the eaves ventilator, taking care not to block the ventilation air path if ventilation is required. Earthwool Rafter Roll is designed for insulating between the rafters of pitched roofs in new build and existing buildings. It is easy to cut and friction fit between rafters. A flexible, resilient, glass mineral wool roll. Unroll the netting and staple it to the sides of each joist so as to form a support cradle. Friction fit the required thickness of Earthwool Loft Roll 40 between the joists. There should be no air gap between the insulation and the underside of the floor deck. Joists running parallel with masonry walls should be spaced away from the wall to allow no less than 35mm of insulation to be placed next to the wall.
