7 Details Of Courses International Foundation Year is a 9 month foundation course for students who have completed High School in their home country (12 years study in duration) and the student must also have a minimum English level equivalent to 5.0 IELTS. This 9 month International Foundation Year prepares students for entry to Degree programs at Universities in Ireland and the UK. Courses start in January and September each year. Streams available include Business, Computers, Engineering, Science, and Health and Science. Pre Masters Programme is for students who have completed either a 4 year Degree or 3 year Diploma course at University in their home country. English level equivalent to 5.0 IELTS. The Pre-Masters Program (PMP) is to prepare University graduates from their home countries for entry to Masters programs at Universities in Ireland and the UK. (post-graduate) Foundation courses. These Pre-Foundation English courses start every month during year. Advantages of NCUK Foundation Course NCUK guarantees a place in one of their partner universities if student successfully passes their IFY or PMP exams (D grade = 40%). Students apply to Universities directly through NCUK application form (3 University choices in total). Student does not need to apply through UCAS (UK) or CAO (Ireland) University application systems. Foundation course includes module for EAP (English for Academic Purposes). NCUK Universities accept EAP exam grade as being equivalent to 6.5 IELTS level. No need for student to sit separate IELTS exam for entry to Partner University once they have scored the required EAP grade on their IFY or PMP Foundation course. PMP courses start in October (10 month course) and January (7 month course) each year. Pre Foundation English courses are for students with a minimum 4.0 IELTS English level and who need extra English classes before they would have the required minimum 5.0 IELTS English level to then join the IFY (undergraduate) or PMP
8 Application Procedure Feb 08 Irish Universities Visit DIFC October- Universities set entry requirements for courses. February- Universities visit DIFC campus to counsel students. March- Students complete NCUK application Form for undergraduate or postgraduate course (3 choices). April- Universities issue conditional offer letter showing exam grades required for place in University. June/July- Students sit final exams Grades are sent to Universities who send final offer letters. September- Students start in University Ireland/UK. UCD visit DIFC Student Counseling Service UCC visit DIFC Student Counseling Service

10 Work in Ireland NCUK courses offered by DIFC are recognised by: The Department of Education, Ireland and the 34 NCUK Partner Universities, including 8 in Ireland, 18 in the UK and 8 in Australia. Only students on Government Approved courses can work parttime while studying. Students can work part-time (20 hours per week) while studying and 40 hours per week during Summer holidays (June - August). Average rate of pay is 8 per hour. Non EU students will be allowed to work full-time in Ireland after graduating from an Irish University with a qualification in key areas such as I.T., Science or Engineering. They will no longer have to return home to apply for a work permit to work in Ireland from their home country.
11 Fees and Application Procedure Fees and Costs of Living Fees change each year. Visit for exact fees this year. DIFC fees are much lower than comparable colleges in London. Example January 2008: DIFC fees are 8,450 while Bellerby's College (UK) fees are 17,200. University fees can vary between Universities please check their web sites. Examples Business Degrees (3 years) around 10,000. Science and Engineering Degree (3 Years+) 13,000. Masters Course (1 year) 12,000. Cost of living in Dublin is less than London. Dublin average cost of living 800 per month. London average cost of living 1200 per month. Application procedure for DIFC courses Complete application form (on line or agent) and send to DIFC with copy of academic documents and English Certificate required (IELTS or TOEFL). DIFC will issue provisional offer letter. Student pays fees to DIFC (Irish visa requirement). DIFC issues final offer letter plus NCUK guarantee letter for visa application. Make visa application see visa website DIFC visa success rate is very high because our courses are linked to Irish Universities. Visa approved, send flight details, we arrange accommodation.
