Centres can choose to offer full-time or part-time study to best meet the needs of students. With up to four assessment cycles throughout the academic year our centres can choose to run qualifications within a timeframe which suits teachers and learners. Students have many options upon completion and are able to select a progression path that is right for them. 13 New Computing Qualifications 13 Digi-Qualifications In January 2014 NCC Education launched an exciting new suite of computing qualifications: Digi-Explorers, Digi-Navigators and Digi-Trailblazers. These qualifications are aimed at, but not exclusive to, primary and lower secondary students. With a wealth of experience in offering young learner Computing qualifications around the world and as a UK awarding organisation with an established range of specialist IT qualifications, NCC Education used its significant expertise in developing these innovative and highly relevant computing qualifications. Each qualification is divided into a series of syllabus sections, allowing students to work through a range of topics to complete a total 35 Guided Learning Hours (minimum). Digi-Qualifications are assessed by a single two-part examination which includes a written theory component and a practical component taken at a computer. NCC Education dispatches certificates to candidates who achieve an overall examination mark of 50% and above.

19 English Language Framework (ELF) The English Language Framework (ELF) is a certificate qualification and aimed at helping learners to improve language skills. The programme comprises five levels and students can move through the levels according to their needs and abilities: Level 1: Elementary 19 Foundation Level Level 2: Pre-Intermediate Level 3: Intermediate Level 4: Upper-Intermediate Level 5: Advanced Note: This qualification is not regulated by Ofqual. International Foundation Year (IFY) The International Foundation Year (IFY) is a one year pre-university programme, including a significant amount of English language training. The programme is designed to provide learners with an entry route to university programmes in the UK, Australia, USA and Canada or progression onto the NCC Education Level 4 Diplomas in Computing, Business or IT. The International Foundation Year (IFY) aims to: Improve general and academic English language ability. Enhance study skills and cultural understanding. Introduce learners to academic study through English language in the fields of computing and/or business. Note: This qualification is not regulated by Ofqual.

21 Level 3 Diploma in Business (QCF) 21 The Level 3 Diploma in Business (QCF) (L3DB) aims to prepare learners for entry onto the NCC Education Level 4 Diploma in Business (QCF) and Level 4 Diploma in Business IT (QCF). The qualification provides individuals with an introduction to the field of business and equips them with the necessary study skills to succeed in higher education. Level 3 Learners will be introduced to: Fundamental concepts of business. Practical IT skills and mathematical concepts. Techniques useful in understanding business and further studies. Level 3 Diploma in Computing (QCF) The Level 3 Diploma in Computing (QCF) (L3DC) aims to prepare individuals for entry onto the NCC Education Level 4 Diploma in Computing (QCF) or Level 4 Diploma in Business IT (QCF). The qualification provides learners with an introduction to computing and equips them with the necessary study skills to succeed in higher education. Learners will be introduced to: Essential concepts of computer programming. Practical IT skills and mathematical concepts. Techniques to further develop their understanding of computing.

23 Level 4 Diploma in Business (QCF) 23 The Level 4 Diploma in Business (QCF) (L4DB) makes up the first year of the NCC Education Business Degree journey. This qualification is equivalent to the first year of a business degree programme in the UK university system. Level 4 Learners will be introduced to the many different aspects of international business in today s world. Individuals embarking on the qualification will be exposed to both academic and vocational aspects of a wide range of subjects, enabling them to gain the necessary knowledge and skills vital for a career in business or further studies. Level 4 Diploma in Business Information Technology (QCF) The Level 4 Diploma in Business Information Technology (QCF) (L4DBIT) makes up the first year of the NCC Education degree journey. This qualification is equivalent to the first year of an IT degree programme in the UK university system. Learners will be given the opportunity to develop essential thinking and study skills in IT and business through a balance of academic and vocational subjects. They will be able to contribute to the development of computer systems and networks, databases and websites in a business context. Level 4 Diploma in Computing (QCF) Level 4 Diploma in Computing (QCF) (L4DC) makes up the first year of the NCC Education degree journey. This qualification is equivalent to the first year of an IT degree programme in the UK university system. Learners will be given the opportunity to develop essential thinking and study skills, within the computing domain and within the context of business through a balance of academic and vocational subjects. The programme will allow individuals to understand and enter the computing profession with the necessary knowledge expected within the industry and the ability to apply the skills to a range of IT related functions. On successful completion of these qualifications students will be able to: Embark on NCC Education s Level 5 Diploma in Computing (QCF) (L5DC) which is equivalent to the second year of a UK Bachelor s degree. Transfer to a university or pursue a career in the Business or IT industry.

More advanced topics are covered including economics, marketing, finance and management. Level 5 Level 5 Diploma in Computing (QCF) The Level 5 Diploma in Computing (QCF) (L5DC) makes up the second year of the NCC Education degree journey and builds upon the knowledge gained during the NCC Education Level 4 Diploma in Computing. Learners will study more advanced topics including database development, information systems analysis and network security and cryptography. Level 5 Diploma in Business Information Technology (QCF) The Level 5 Diploma in Business Information Technology (QCF) (L5DBIT) makes up the second year of the NCC Education degree journey and builds upon the knowledge gained during the NCC Education Level 4 Diploma in Business Information Technology. Individuals will be exposed to more advanced topics in a range of areas including information systems analysis, database development and the principles of business operations.

Learners will upgrade their English language ability to a level suitable for master s entrance, while also being introduced to studying business subjects through the medium of English. Pre-Master s Pre-Master s in Information Technology The Pre-Master s in IT is designed to enable learners to quickly bridge the gap between their existing qualifications and a master s programme. Individuals will upgrade their English language ability to a level suitable for master s entrance, while also being introduced to studying IT subjects through the medium of English. Master s Preparation in Business The Master s Preparation in Business is a short course designed to enable individuals to quickly bridge the gap between existing qualifications and a master s programme. Learners will upgrade their English language ability to a level suitable for master s entrance, while also being introduced to studying business subjects through the medium of English. Master s Preparation in Information Technology The Master s Preparation in IT is a short course designed to enable individuals to quickly bridge the gap between their existing qualifications and a master s programme. 29 Level 7 Diploma in Business Management (QCF) 29 The Level 7 Diploma in Business Management (QCF) (L7DBM) programme is designed for graduates or experienced managers who wish to further develop their career in management. Learners will be exposed to a wide range of contemporary issues which will enable them to develop critical, analytical and technical skills needed for senior management positions. The programme will also develop academic skills, which are required for further study at postgraduate level. Level 7 Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Business IT (QCF) The Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Business IT (QCF) (L7DSBIT) programme is designed for IT and computing graduates or IT practitioners who wish to further develop their career. Learners will be exposed to a wide range of contemporary issues, which will enable them to develop the critical, analytical and technical skills needed for senior positions within the IT sector. The programme also develops their academic skills which are required for further study at master s level.

33 Undergraduate top-up degree options for Business, IT and Computing 33 Students can study online via the NCC Education Campus for a BSc (Hons) Business Computing and Information Systems top-up degree validated and awarded by the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). UCLan is a world ranked university in the UK for Computer Sciences. Centres can also be accredited directly by The University of Greenwich through a collaborative arrangement which allows selected centres to teach under a franchise agreement for a BSc (Hons) Business Information Technology top-up programme. The degree is awarded by the University of Greenwich. Progression Routes Master s degree top-up options for Business Guaranteed progression for students with suitable work experience onto The University of Northampton s online top-up MBA programme. For progression in the UK: MSc in Management or MBA with the University of Worcester (requires only 2 weeks in the UK). Birmingham City University - MBA on campus top-up degree.
