1 SAMPLE PROGRAM FOR: Stockholm, 3 nights Welcome to Stockholm Stockholm City is not famous only for its beauty, but also for its buildings, parks and water. While visiting Stockholm in the middle of summer is always the best option, but you may not ignore it in the winters, because it has its own fascination and attraction. The word Stockholm is a combination of two words; stock (which means log or fortification) and holm (which means islet). Basically, this naming is due to the strategic location of Stockholm at the mouth of Lake Mälaren, making it a collection of islands situated on the lake. The history of Stockholm goes back to the 13th century, when the iron trade began from the mines of Bergslagen (a distinct mining district in the north of the Lake Mälaren) to the other parts of the region. Anyway, at that time the name of Stockholm was mentioned for the first time in writing dates. The core of Stockholm is the current Old Town (Gamla Stan) that is located on the central island next to Helgeandsholmen (a small island in central Stockholm). This part of the city was built between 1300 and 1500 and is now officially called The Town between the Bridges. Stockholm is a cosmopolitan city where you can see all kinds of nationalities with different backgrounds and various cultures. Stockholm is a must-see destination whether you come from other cities of Sweden or even other countries in the world. Just, don t miss out an opportunity to visit this beautiful city either in summer or winter! The Weather: Stockholm has a humid continental climate because of its high northerly latitude. It has relatively a mild temperature compared with other places at similar latitude, or even somewhat further south, which is generally based on the effect of Gulf Stream. Summers in Stockholm are really pleasant and warm. The average high temperature in daytime is about C (68 74 F) and low is around 15 C (59 F), but warmer temperatures higher than 25 C are also predictable.

2 Arrival Arlanda Airport, Stockholm Optional: (Price on request) We set up an arrival booth at the airport to help the guests arriving individually to Sweden. The group will be met by our event staff on arrival in airport departure hall. Transfer with airconditioned and modern City Liner bus takes the group from the airport and directly to central Stockholm and the Hotel. A short guided introduction to Sweden and Stockholm is given by the guide on the bus, and our event staff will hand out the itinerary for the visit in Stockholm and also go thru this with the guests. The facilities and services are designed to cater diverse events and highly specialized demands. The building is an architectural masterpiece - dominated by steel, glass and several types of specially formulated types of concrete. The inside is no less complex. Walls, ceilings and even our stage can be moved, sectioned off or raised. Apart from the modularized floor space, stateof-the art solutions in terms of lighting, communications and A/V are built into the facility Stockholm Waterfront Congress Centre is greener than green. The glass façades are 1,040 m2 solar collectors that on average gather 1 MW of heat energy on a daily basis. This is equivalent to 90,000 normal low energy bulbs. The building is cooled by water drawn from the lake. It has ensured that Stockholm Waterfront Congress Centre is one of the most energy efficient buildings in the world

Suggestions of venue for Gala Dinner: Gala Dinner (Alfred Nobel theme) Stockholm City Hall is the building of the Municipal Council for the City of Stockholm in Sweden. It stands on the eastern tip of Kungsholmen island, next to the northern shore of Riddarfjärden and facing the islands of Riddarholmen and Södermalm. It houses offices and conference rooms as well as ceremonial halls, and the luxury restaurant Stadshuskällaren. The City Hall, with its spire featuring the golden Three Crowns, is one of the most famous silhouettes in Stockholm. Stockholm City Hall is one of the country s leading examples of national romanticism in architecture. The City Hall was designed by the architect Ragnar Östberg, and opened on Midsummer Eve in The City Hall is built from eight million bricks, and the 106 meter tall tower has the three crowns, which is the Swedish national coat of arms, at its apex. Behind the magnificent facades are offices and session halls for politicians and officials, as well as splendid assembly rooms and unique works of art. Stockholm s municipal council meets in Rådssalen, the Council Chamber.

6 The great Nobel banquet is also held in City Hall. After dinner in Blå hallen, the Blue Hall, Nobel Prize recipients, royalty and guests dance in Gyllene salen, the Golden Hall, with its 18 million gold mosaic tiles. The Blue Hall Gala Dinner Nobel Theme We suggest an evening in themed with a menu, decorations and service served just as if this was the annual dinner banquet of the Nobel Prize. The Blue Hall is built for dining up to 1300 guest. The Golden Hall is used for the dance and party after the Nobel dinner.

7 Suggestion of venues for additional dinner In beautiful Vinterviken, only 15 minutes away from Stockholm city lays the old factory of Nobel from Now Winterviken is owned and run by Markus and Erika Aujalay and offers possibilities for all kinds of events and parties. In this incredible building there are neither crystal chandeliers nor velvet chairs, instead our ceiling is adorned by wooden beams, brick inner and outer walls and wooden floors. Daytime light flows through the enormous arched windows and nighttime we illuminate the walls to create that special feeling you require for your particular event. Winterviken s halls are rough and beautiful. They are excellent for creating your own touch to every party or event. The house is approximately 2000 square meters large and there is ample space for people to mingle and enjoy a Gala evening! Markus Aujalay is one of Sweden s most reputed chefs. He has worked at the most exquisite restaurants both abroad and in Sweden and won most titles there are to be won in Sweden; Årets gröna kock (Vegetarian chef of the year), Årets viltkock (Game meat chef of the year), Årets kock (Chef of the year) and 2007 he was Sweden s representative in Bocuse d Ór (the culinary world championships) where he achieved fifth place. He has managed the Nobel Prize award dinner and is also greatly appreciated as a TV-chef and through his cookbooks

9 The Mirror Hall Grand Hotel Spegelsalen, the Hall of Mirrors, was inspired by the famous Galerie des Glaces in Versailles. Featuring four large mirror doors, elaborate ceiling frescos and two grand chandeliers, the gilded hall played host to the very first Nobel Prize banquet in Held to be of such great historical significance, the Hall of Mirrors has been designated a Swedish National Treasure. Spegelsalen, the "Hall of Mirrors", is a magnificent ballroom decorated in gold, white and red. Ever since the opening in 1899, it has been the scene of countless successful conferences and brilliant parties. Spegelsalen is now regarded as a part of Sweden's cultural heritage. It has no equivalent anywhere else in Sweden.

10 The Vasa Museum This is the banquet hall that outshines all others. Celebrate in the company of the Vasa Ship. Be it a company jubilee, gala dinner, business banquet, private birthday party or an anniversary celebration. It would be difficult to find a more extravagant banquet hall with the magnificent Vasa Ship as your dining companion, not just in Stockholm but anywhere in the world. You can have a banquet for up to 750 seated guests or a stand-up reception for around 1550 guests. Located on the island of Djurgården, the museum displays the only almost fully intact 17th century ship that has ever been salvaged, the 64-gun warship Vasa that sank on her maiden voyage in The Vasa Museum opened in 1990 and, according to the official web site, is the most visited museum in Scandinavia.

11 Suggestions for activities: We would like to give the group a few ideas and options. The guests should be able to sign up on different tours and activities in front of the trip. We will divide the guests into smaller groups and adapt visits to different attractions to avoid logistic problems Boat trip in the archipelago The guests are picked up at outside the reception at the hotel with a special chartered boat that will take the group on a half day boat trip in the Stockholm archipelago with guide. Refreshments are served onboard. The group arrives in Waxholm harbor after a 2 hours guided trip. Visit at Royal Palace of Drottningholm The group will travel to the The Royal Palace of Drottningholm and in the bus the guide will tell the stories of the Royal families of Sweden from the old times and up to the modern days of Our event staff and the air-conditioned and modern City Liner buses. The Drottningholm Palace is on UNESCO's World Heritage list. It is the most well-preserved royal castle built in the 1600s in Sweden and at the same time is representative of all European architecture for the period.

12 A number of royal persons have since then left their mark on the palace. The Palace has been the present Royal Family's permanent residence. The rooms in the southern wing of the palace are reserved for this purpose. The rest of the palace and grounds are open to the public year round. The group will be given an hour at the Royal Palace to enjoy the Royal garden. After this the the group travel back into Stockholm. The Grand Tour of Stockholm 3.5 hrs. This is a half day sightseeing tour that takes the group around the city with highlights such as the Royal Castle, The island of Djurgården and the museum of modern art. The group will be picked up at hotel and on the buses you will be met by of our professional Stockholm guides. All guiding will be in English. The Old Town A genuine walk thru the history of Stockholm 1, 5 hrs. We will wander a tour through the Old Town alleys and squares and see the city as it was hundreds of years ago, the city walls, streets, etc., and the people who lived there. You will experience an amazing journey from the time of Stockholm's birth, the first settlement, which is why the town was laid out right there and what it looked like before. We also include a real experience and more about the castle today and yesterday, why and how the palaces were built and by whom. We will walk through the streets to the island of Riddarholmen and familiarize ourselves with the people who lived there and their fates, ranging from the murder of Axel von Fersen to King Frederick I's mistress and her destiny. The group will be picked up at hotel divided into three groups. Each one guided by one of our professional Stockholm guides. All guiding will be in English. Visit at Heritage center and Nordic Zoo Skansen A guided visit at national heritage center and Nordic Zoo Skansen, situated on the beautiful island of Djurgården in central Stockholm. The round tour here will include tasting of old Swedish specialties, a close encounter with Nordic animals and a historic view of traditional handcraft. The guests leave Skansen for a short 15 min walk along iconic street of Strandvägen to Grand Hotel. Lunch at Hotell Waxholm followed by a guided tour at The Vaxholm Fortress. It describes Swedish coastal defense during 500 years, with special attention given to the defense of the Stockholm archipelago. The construction of this huge fortification on the island of Vaxholm ( Guardian Island ) started in 1544 on direct order from King Gustav Vasa to serve as an important outpost in the archipelago. The fortress was attacked twice, by the Danish in 1612 and by the Russians in 1719, and has also served as a prison. The new fortress museum was opened in 2003 and the exhibitions include environments, models, vaults, soldier s life, prison and more. A guide booklet in English is available in the museum.

13 About the attractions: The Royal Castle of Stockholm is His Majesty The King's official residence and is also the setting for most of the monarchy's official receptions. The palace is a daily place of work for The King and Queen as well as for the various departments that make up the Royal Court. This combination of royal residence, workplace and culture-historical monument open year round to visitors makes the Royal Palace of Stockholm unique amongst Europe's royal residences. The palace is built in baroque style by the architect Nicodemus Tessin and is formed as a Roman palace. The palace has more than 600 rooms divided between seven floors with a state apartment facing the city and smaller living rooms facing the inner courtyard. Fotografiska Museum: Fotografiska is a vital center for contemporary photography. Our ambition is to exhibit worldrenown photographers, many of who have never shown in Sweden. Located in the heart of Stockholm, the museum has an exhibition space of square meters, and will feature 4 major exhibitions per year and approximately minor exhibitions. At Fotografiska, we aim to engage and inspire a dialogue on photography via exhibitions, seminars, and courses. In addition to this, we work actively toward the acquisition of contemporary photography for our permanent collection. Fotografiska is housed in a former industrial Art Nouveau style building dating from Designed by Ferdinand Boberg, the building was used for the customs control of goods, and is listed as a building of cultural interest. The original brick facade of the beautiful custom building is intact, while the interiors have been renovated to house the museum.

14 The Millennium Tour Follow along in Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander s footsteps while getting additional background information about the characters and the author. The walk starts at Bellmansgatan 1, where Mikael Blomkvist lives, then passes the Millennium editorial office, Lisbeth Salander s luxury apartment and many other locations mentioned in the books and film. On the way you will also learn more about historical and contemporary Stockholm and its inhabitants. When possible, the tour ends at the small Millennium exhibition at the Stockholm City Museum. We will start the guided tour with a short transfer by modern air conditioned buses to the south part of central Stockholm, transfer time 15 minutes. After the two hour activity the group will be picked up at Millennium exhibition at the Stockholm City Museum and the bus will bring the group back to the hotel. Over 73 million have read author Stieg Larsson s three Millennium books (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series) about the journalist Mikael Blomkvist and the computer hacker Lisbeth Salander. Hollywood has now released the American version of the story. The main characters live and work in the central island of Södermalm in Stockholm.
