6 6 Before you start We recoend that you follow this rocedure when you set u your BeoSound 9000: Place the BeoSound 9000 where you want to use it. If you wish to ount BeoSound 9000 on a wall bracket or floor stand accessory, then asseble the accessory according to the folder enclosed with it. Set u your loudseakers (or, if the BeoSound 9000 is to be used in a Bang & Olufsen AV syste, set u this syste) following the rocedures described in the guides enclosed with these roducts. Connect all cables to their sockets on the rear anel of the BeoSound 9000 reeber not to connect it to the ains yet! Arrange the cables in the cable cover grooves and attach the cover to the rear of the BeoSound. Connect BeoSound 9000 to the ains. Cautions Make sure that the BeoSound 9000 is set u, laced and connected, in accordance with the instructions in this guide. The BeoSound 9000 is designed for indoor use in dry, doestic environents only, and for use within a teerature range of C ( F). Avoid lacing the BeoSound 9000 in direct sunlight or direct artificial light (e.g. a sotlight), or near objects generating electrical noise (e.g. diers), as this will reduce the sensitivity of the reote control receiver. Place the BeoSound 9000 so that ventilation will not be ieded, and reeber to leave enough sace above or in front of the BeoSound 9000 for the glass door to oen, and to facilitate close-u oeration. If you are going to hang the BeoSound 9000 on the wall, always use the correct size and tye of screws and wall lugs to suort the weight of the BeoSound 9000 (deending on the aterial and the construction of the wall). If in doubt, consult your Bang & Olufsen retailer. If you wish to hang BeoSound 9000 on the wall we recoend that you conceal the cables using the otional Cable Covers, as shown on the oosite age. When you are lifting the BeoSound 9000 out of the box we recoend that you, in order to avoid fingerarks on the surfaces, use the two foa acking shells laced at each end of the BeoSound Light artition walls are often constructed of gysu anels known as drywall or wall board secured to vertical studs. Gysu is not a satisfactory aterial to suort the weight of the BeoSound 9000! If you wish to hang your BeoSound 9000 on a gysu wall, using one of the brackets, we recoend that at least one ounting screw be a lag screw, which is screwed securely into a vertical wall stud.

7 How to set u BeoSound As illustrated in this section, BeoSound 9000 is designed for a variety of laceents. It can be laced on a secial stand, on a shelf or a table in various ositions or hanging on the wall (using one of the otional wall brackets). This section also describes how to centre the CD echanis for the different setu situations entioned here this is very iortant for the roer functioning of the CD layer! The section Getting started describes how to turn the close-u oeration anel (and the dislay) so it can be read fro your referred angle. Fig. 1: The BeoSound 9000 laced in a vertical osition. When BeoSound 9000 is laced like this, the CD echanis ust be centred for a vertical osition. The Stand is sulied with two different sets of feet: sikes for use on a careted floor rubber feet for use on a non-careted floor. Do not lift or ove the Stand around while the BeoSound 9000 is ounted on it. Fig. 2: The BeoSound 9000 hung flat on the wall in a high horizontal osition. When BeoSound 9000 is laced like this, the CD echanis ust be centred for a horizontal osition. Fig. 3: The BeoSound 9000 hung flat on the wall in a vertical osition. When BeoSound 9000 is laced like this, the CD echanis ust be centred for a vertical osition. NOTE! Deending on the laceent you have chosen for your BeoSound 9000, the carriage will situate itself in various ositions. If you choose to lace BeoSound 9000 vertically, the carriage will ove to the to end of BeoSound If you choose to lace the BeoSound 9000 horizontally, the carriage will situate itself next to the oeration anel.

8 8 >> How to set u BeoSound 9000 Fig. 4: The BeoSound 9000 laced flat on a level surface, e.g. a table or shelf. When BeoSound 9000 is laced like this, the CD echanis ust be centered for a flat osition (factory setting). Fig. 5: The BeoSound 9000 laced in a slant osition on a level surface, e.g. a table or shelf. When BeoSound 9000 is laced like this, the CD echanis ust be centered as for a flat osition (factory setting). Fig. 6: The BeoSound 9000 laced in a near uright osition on a level surface, e.g. a table or shelf. When BeoSound 9000 is laced like this, the CD echanis ust be centered for a horizontal osition. Fig. 7: The BeoSound 9000 hung low on the wall in a near uright osition. When BeoSound 9000 is laced like this the CD echanis ust be centered for a horizontal osition.

9 9 Centering the CD drive echanis The CD echanis is sring susended in order to ake the BeoSound 9000 arty-safe. By centering the CD echanis, you adjust the tension of the sring susension to allow for different laceents. a It is very iortant for the functioning of the CD layer that you adjust the sring susension correctly! The sring susension in the two adjustent holes can be set to four different ositions: b a) Use this setting when BeoSound 9000 is laced in the Bracket as in figs 6 and 7. b) Use this setting when BeoSound 9000 is laced either on its Stand, or hung vertically on the wall as in figs 1 and 3. d c c) Use this setting when BeoSound 9000 is hung horizontally on the wall as in fig 2. d) Use this setting when BeoSound 9000 is laced either flat on a table, or in the Bracket as in figs 4 and 5. This is the factory setting. How to center the sring susension Enclosed with the Stand and the Brackets, you will find a sall lastic tool, which you ust use for this urose: > Locate the two adjustent holes in the botto late of BeoSound > Pry off the two sall lastic lugs (using the chisel-shaed end of the tool). > Insert the other end of the tool (the arrowshaed end) and turn the tool so that the arrow in each hole oints into the correct direction. > When finished ut back the two lastic lugs again. In all but the flat and the near flat ositions, both arrows in the holes ust oint uwards when finished. In the flat osition (factory setting) they ust oint towards the centre of BeoSound 9000.
