3 Facts HENRI is a member of the JACOB Family HENRI is the latest project dedicated to a member of the Jacob dynasty. The hotel owes its name to Heinrich Jacob, or Henri, the great-grandson of the JACOB founder. Henri was a sophisticated host with a sense of tradition. In 1895 he turned the already famous Louis C. Jacob estate on the Elbchaussee into a hotel. He was quite a character, a visionary and someone who liked to think outside the box. Heinrich is HENRI s role model. He was expressive, smart and casual, cosmopolitan and unconventional and put his guests first. 6 When entering the spacious lounge, guests immediately feel at home and transported back to another era. Dark wooden floors, cosy sofas and armchairs, hand-woven rugs, and details like a Triumph typewriter, suggest a living room typical of the 1950s. Host Eckart Buss welcomes the hotel guests here. Buss, 43, has long-standing experience in the hotel business and developed the new hotel: If Henri were a person, you d feel relaxed in his presence straight away and wonder if you hadn t come across him before. 7 The Kontor kitchen is adjacent to the lobby and proof that everything s somewhat unconventional at Henri. Breakfast is laid out every morning on the large countertop. During the day, huge retro-style fridges turn into self-service bars with drinks, soups and snacks, and in the evenings Eckart Buss invites guests to come and have their Abendbrot supper there.
