Continued viability, not only of our equipment but also of future generations, depends on prudent and conscientious attention to our resources. With the We care about the future label, Schaerer are making a clear and visible commitment to the future. In the spring of 2009, Schaerer initiated their own Sustainability Project in order to find sustainable development paths and ways to implement them strategically, with our stated goal being to strive for improvement in all relevant areas. This is facilitated by the company-wide guiding principles, which today already ensure a level far above the minimum requirements for social responsibility. In the areas of recycling and improving energy efficiency, Schaerer work continually to reduce waste and to significantly decrease power consumption. Schaerer take these high standards into account right from the start, particularly with regard to new product development and technical innovation. Schaerer s over-riding goal is to manufacture innovative and future-compatible products that also impress with their attention to sustainability. The materials used in the manufacture of Schaerer products are also selected with sustainability in mind. This includes looking at not only the recyclability of materials, but also those that require less energy to extract or process. Packaging always poses a special challenge to industrial companies. During the development and design of the packaging, Schaerer already plan on using as little material as possible and making use of resource conserving materials. The wood used for both cardboard and paper is derived 100% from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified forests. Thus, Schaerer packaging strategy ensures the minimum adverse effect on the environment. Coffee machines Many of Schaerer s developments contribute to substantial savings with regard to energy waste. Schaerer achieve this primarily in conjunction with insulation and the heating of water, as well as utilising the low-level energy usage in the standby mode. Technology The state-of-the-art, dependable technology also entails lower service requirements on the part of customers. This also means fewer service technician trips and therefore fewer CO2 emissions. Cleaning Schaerer continually reduced the amount of the cleaning agents necessary and also the water volume too.
