1 September 2013 Dear Student INFORMATION FOR THE NOVEMBER DHET (N1 N3 Engineering Studies) EXAM SESSION 2013 IMPORTANT INFORMATION The attached documents contain important information about the upcoming exam session, including the most important dates. Please read all accompanying documents carefully to ensure that you do not miss anything. IMPORTANT NOTES Kindly take note of the below. 1. communication. We are using as the only means of sending exam information and the DHET permits to students. Please ensure that you have a valid and active address. All currently registered students should use their intec.me address. Refer to your orientation guide to register your intec.me address. 2. Payment of exam fees. The cost of exam registration is determined by the relevant Further Education and Training College. 3. Exam Centre. The College has identified a list of exam centres where you can register for your examinations. Please refer to the INTEC website, under exam information. This examination session will commence on the 8 th November. of November and will be completed on the 25 6th of Please read the information contained in the accompanying documents carefully to assist you in your registration process and register at the exam centre closest to you. Remember to take your exam permit with you to the exam centre for every exam sitting. Remember to register for this exam session on or before the 16 th of September (internal cut-off date). Students should ensure that their third assignment/test paper reaches the College before the assignment submission closing date. The timetable has been issued by the Department of Higher Education and Training to the relevant FET Colleges who are authorized to manage the exams. Please note that the 2013 exam timetable dates are subject to change. 2

3 GENERAL The N1 N3 Engineering Studies exams will be hosted in: April, July/ August and November. You must be eligible to write in the exam session. In other words, you must have passed your assignments. Please follow the easy steps on the Department of Education Exam Entry Form to register for the exams you want to write. The Department of Education Exam Entry Form must be completed at the venue you wish to write your exams. COMPLETING THE EXAM ENTRY FORM Example of an Examination Entry Form. This document can be obtained from the exam centre you are going to register at. 3

4 INSTRUCTIONS PLEASE PRINT, ONE CAPITAL LETTER PER BLOCK USE THE CORRECT ENTRY FORM FOR THE PARTICULAR COURSE SECTION A (MUST BE COMPLETED BY THE RECTOR / PRINCIPAL) 1. MUST BE COMPLETED AIDED BY THE LATEST EXAMINATION CENTRE DICTIONARY. 2. USE THE FORMAT: YYYYMM SECTION B (MUST BE COMPLETED BY THE CANDIDATE) 1. SURNAME MUST BE PRINTED, ONE CAPITAL LETTER PER BLOCK. 2. FIRST NAMES OR CHRISTIAN NAMES MUST BE PRINTED, ONE NAME PER LINE WITH A MAXIMUM OF THREE NAMES. 3. IN THE EVENT THAT THERE IS NO POSTAL ADDRESS AVAILABLE, THIS MUST BE LEFT BLANK AND ANY CORRESPONDENCE WILL BE DIRECTED TO THE EXAMINATION CENTRE. 4. POSTAL CODE: THE OFFICIAL POSTAL CODE OF THE POST OFFICE. 5. NB. ENTER 'Y' IF YOU ARE AN APPRENTICE. ENTER 'N' IF YOU ARE NOT AN APPRENTICE. 6. THE LANGUAGE MEDIUM OF CORRESPONDENCE A = AFRIKAANS, E = ENGLISH 7. CANDIDATES WRITING EXAMINATIONS MUST ENSURE THAT THEY ARE IN POSSESSION OF A VALID IDENTITY DOCUMENT AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION. THE IDENTITY NUMBER WILL BECOME THEIR EXAMINATION NUMBER. 8. DATE OF BIRTH MUST BE ENTERED AS YEAR, MONTH AND DAY. FORMAT IS YYYYMMDD. 9. ANY PREVIOUS, PREFERABLY THE LAST, EXAMINATION NUMBER MUST BE ENTERED. 10. ENTER A 'M' FOR MALE OF 'F' FOR FEMALE. 11. ENTER A 4 IF A 4-SUBJECT CERTIFICATE MUST BE ISSUED. ENTER A 3 IF A 3-SUBJECT CERTIFICATE MUST BE ISSUED. SECTION C (MUST BE COMPLETED BY THE CANDIDATE AND THE RECTOR) 1. THE INSTRUCTIONAL OFFERING/S ENTERED MUST BE MARKED WITH ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: 1 = RESIDENTIAL COLLEGE (FULL TIME + PART TIME) 4 = TECHNISA 6 = SAPPI 7 = INTEC 2. 5 NOTIFICATION OF N1 N3 ENGINEERING STUDIES EXAM REGISTRATION FORM To ensure that your TERM MARK is forwarded to the Department of Higher Education and Training, complete and send this form to INTEC College as soon as you have registered for the N1 N3 Engineering Studies exam. The Department of Education will not release your results unless your term mark has been submitted. In order to obtain a valid term mark, you must have successfully completed the required number of tests for the subject. Post to EXAM DEPARTMENT, PO Box 19, Cape Town, 8000 or fax this form to Student Number: ID/Passport Number: You must supply your ID number or the exam number that was given to you by the Dept. of Education when you registered for the exam. Without this, your term mark may not be successfully submitted.
