Sveriges Ingenjörer exists in order to support you in this important mission - the only trade union with complete focus on engineers in particular. 3 Welcome to a unique network As a student member of Sveriges Ingenjörer, you can make contact with professionally active engineers within a number of different disciplines at lots of different workplaces. Their experiences can provide guidance and inspiration for your own career choice. Training and support in tough situations As soon as you start to see all the opportunities you have as a future engineer, you can start to benefit from our career services. As well as getting help with the finishing touches to your CV and your letter of application, you also get the opportunity to sharpen your arguments during a simulated employment interview. You also get access to our unique, engineer-specific salary statistics, so that you can keep an eye on the pay situation in the bransch you are thinking about entering. At the end of your training, we recommend that you use the free-of-charge career coaching that is included in your membership. And, once you have got the job you want and received a proposed employment contract, we are happy to help you check it through before you sign it. Membership also includes the magazines Ny Teknik (digital version) and Ingenjören, which provide inspiration about technology, possible career choices and engineering-related news in everyday life. 4 Societal impact Like your professionally active engineer colleagues, you will be of great importance to Sweden s development and well-being. This is why we work to make the role of engineers in society visible and to 84% safeguard the interests of the profession. We do this by taking part in debates, meeting politicians and decision-makers, initiating collaboration and talking to employers. Of course we also drive issues relating to the design of engineeringtraining courses, for of the general public believe that technology can solve difficult tasks relating to energy supply.* example how the teaching should be developed and implemented, and we collaborate with all large profession societies on issues that relate to your future as an engineer. Security during your years of study Accident insurance Student membership includes accident insurance, which can be of great importance if anything unexpected were to happen. The insurance compensates you for hospital care, dental injury costs and disability, among other things. 9 Information according to the Swedish Personal Data Act Sveriges Ingenjörer is responsible for the personal data, i.e. responsible for the handling of the personal data you provide when applying for membership and later notification of changes. The personal data include information about name, address, personal identity number, telephone number, address, place of work and unemployment benefit scheme. The data is needed to enable us to protect your interests on issues relating to terms of employment and labour law and to fulfil our other undertakings that according to our regulations and decisions by the governing board are existent upon us towards you as a member. Disclosure to another For the same purposes as mentioned above, the personal data may be used by other associations, companies or public authorities than Sveriges Ingenjörer in order for us to fulfil agreements entered into or obligations that apply according to law or other statutes. This might also relate to the administration of membership benefits, such as magazines, insurance, market analysis, statistics or for the evaluation of services and products. Collection of data The data is normally collected direct from you as a member, but may also be collected from your employer or similar. For addresses we use SPAR, the government s personal address register. Therefore there is no need to notify us of any change of address when you move. We get information from SPAR about your new registered address around ten days after it has been registered with the Tax Agency. If you have notified us of a so-called special postal address besides your registered address, SPAR instead sends information about the special address. Automatic address updating does not apply if you move abroad; then you must notify us of your new address yourself. It is of the greatest importance to Sveriges Ingenjörer that the personal data relating to you is correct. Incorrect data will be corrected as soon as possible. In order for you to receive the best possible service as a member, it is important that you notify the union about all changes that may impact on your membership status, such as a change of employers or similar. Via Sveriges Ingenjörer s website, you can also log in to your membership page and make changes yourself to your personal data. By applying for membership of Sveriges Ingenjörer, you agree to us handling personal data about you according to what is stated above. 7
