1 Sida: 1 av 5 Etableringsersättning - för dig som är ny i Sverige Engelska Introduction benefit- for you who are newly arrived in Sweden This information is for you who are covered by the act on establishment activities for certain new arrivals (2010:197). When can you receive introduction benefit? When you and your employment officer draw up your introduction plan, you have the right to introduction benefit. You can also receive introduction benefit when you carry out your introduction plan. An introduction plan contains activities that are to support you so that you can as quickly as possible learn Swedish, find work and support yourself. Applying for introduction benefit It is we at Arbetsförmedlingen who decide on introduction benefit after you have submitted an application to us. You receive the form for applying for introduction benefit from us at Arbetsförmedlingen. Inform about your bank account You must inform The Swedish Social Insurance Agency which bank account you would like your introduction benefit to be paid into. You do this by sending in form 5605, uppdrag kontoinsättning (Account deposit assignment) to The Swedish Social Insurance Agency. At Arbetsförmedlingen, we can help you fill in the form. When can you not receive introduction benefit? You cannot receive introduction benefit if you are receiving benefits from The Swedish Migration Board in accordance with the Reception of Asylum Seekers and Others Act (1994:137). You can also not receive introduction benefit when you are receiving: Sickness or activity compensation Sickness benefit Rehabilitation benefit Maternity allowance
2 Sida: 2 av 5 Parental benefit Temporary parental benefit Occupational injury annuity Allowance for the care of close relatives Disease carrier s allowance Sick pay You do not have the right to student aid from The Swedish National Board of Student Aid (CSN) during the period that you are receiving introduction benefit. The size of the benefit The benefit when you make an introduction plan You have the right to introduction benefit when you and your employment officer make an introduction plan. The benefit is 231 SEK per day, five days per calendar week. The benefit is paid twice a month. The benefit while you are taking part in activities When you are taking part in activities that are a part of your introduction plan, you receive an introduction benefit, which is up to a maximum of 308 SEK per day. You receive the benefit for five days per calendar week and the benefit is paid once a month. The size of your introduction benefit depends on the extent of your introduction plan. The benefit if you have children or high rental charges In some cases, you have the right to payment from The Swedish Social Insurance Agency if you have children or high rental charges. You can then apply for supplementary introduction benefit or supplementary introduction benefit for housing from The Swedish Social Insurance Agency. At Arbetsförmedlingen, we can help you fill in the form, but it is The Swedish Social Insurance Agency that decides whether you can receive these benefits. Your introduction benefit can be reduced if you are working If you have work as an activity in your introduction plan, your introduction benefit will be reduced in accordance with how much you work. If you have work that is not part of your introduction plan, however, your introduction benefit will remain unchanged.
3 Sida: 3 av 5 You must submit a monthly report in order for introduction benefit to be paid After the end of every month, you must inform us at Arbetsförmedlingen that you have been present at your activities and you must tell us why you had any absences. You do this on a form that is called Monthly Report for Introduction Benefit that you receive from us at Arbetsförmedlingen. You must also ensure that the organizer of your activities signs the monthly report. You cannot receive payment for a month in advance or before you have submitted your monthly report. It is you who are responsible for ensuring that the monthly report is submitted to us at Arbetsförmedlingen. What happens in the event of absence? If you are absent, you can only keep your introduction benefit if your absence is due to illness, taking care of a sick child, or if we at Arbetsförmedlingen have approved an absence. Absence may not be longer than 30 consecutive days. Disallowed absence and long-term absence that is longer than 30 consecutive days also entails a reduction in supplementary introduction benefit or supplementary introduction benefit for housing, if you are receiving these. If you are absent, you must inform us of this at Arbetsförmedlingen in advance, or on your first day of absence. If you do not do so, you risk not receiving payment for the period that you are away. You must account for your absence in the form Monthly Report for Introduction Benefit. What happens when you are ill? One-day qualifying period The first day that you are ill is a one-day qualifying period, which means that you do not receive any benefits for that day. You can never receive deductions for more than ten of these one-day qualifying periods during a twelve-month period. If you become ill again within five days of a period of illness, deductions are not made for a new one-day qualifying period. If you are ill for a longer period than 30 consecutive days, your introduction benefit ceases. If you become healthy again after 30 days and return to your activities, you can receive introduction benefit again.
4 Sida: 4 av 5 Notification of illness When you become ill, you must contact us at Arbetförmedlingen and report it. You must notify us the first day that you become ill. Declaration of illness If you have been ill, you must submit details about the illness and how the illness has affected your capacity to participate in activities. You do this on the form Monthly Report for Introduction Benefit. Medical certificate If you are ill longer than seven days after declaring the illness, you must submit a medical certificate to us at Arbetsförmedlingen. The medical certificate must show that you cannot participate in activities that are part of your introduction plan because of your illness. To obtain a medical certificate, you must visit a health care centre and speak with a doctor. Care of sick child (VAB) When you are looking after a sick child who is under twelve years of age, you have the right to introduction benefit. The benefit does not expire if you are absent to care for a sick child for more than 30 consecutive days. In some cases, you can even stay at home to care for children until they are 16 years of age. For example, in the event of serious illness, handicap, or if you must go with your child to visit the doctor. There can be several reasons, and all of them must be approved by your employment officer. Speak with your employment officer if you are unsure. When your child becomes sick, you must contact us at Arbetsförmedlingen and notify us of this. Notification of the care of a sick child must be made to us on the first day that you are prevented from participating in activities. Approved absence When we at Arbetsförmedlingen have approved your absence, introduction benefit is not reduced. Reasons for approved absence can be, for example, a visit to the doctor, a close relative suffering a serious illness, the death of a close relative, a funeral, estate inventory proceedings, the distribution of an estate, moving, visiting The Swedish Social Insurance Agency or an administrator in the municipality, or a driving test when a driving licence is needed for the intended profession. In some cases, you can also obtain approved absence to collect your children from abroad.
