1 Created April 2009 This application note shows how to set up the TSP100LAN for kitchen ticket printing from POSERA Maitre D Software. Ensure the TSP100LAN has a static IP and is installed in your system by opening the Printers and Faxes folder. If the TSP100 is listed here, it has been successfully installed. After confirming this, close this folder. * For instructions on how to install the TSP100LAN, visit the FAQ section of 2. Click the Windows Start button and navigate Programs > StarMicronics > Star TSP100LAN > TSP100LAN Configuration Utility 3. Highlight Star Line Mode and click the OK Button.

2 4. In the left menu bar, click Virtual TCP/IP Ports. 5. Click the Add Port button. 6. Enter the output port number. In typical cases, the TCP/IP output port is Then, click the OK button.

3 7. Click the drop down box next to Startup Type and select Automatic. Then click the Start button. 8. Click the Apply Changes button in the lower right hand corner. 9. Highlight the port and click the Check Health button. A message stating Check Health Completed Successfully will appear, confirming the port has been successfully added. The TSP100LAN will also print a small confirmation document showing its virtual IP address; this IP address will be identical to your computer s. Keep this print out handy as the information will be needed shortly. 10. Click the Close button in the lower right hand corner.

4 Maitre D Configuration 1. Start the Maitre D server by clicking the Windows Start button and navigating Programs > Startup > Maitre D POS Server 2. Click the Windows Start button and navigate Programs > Maitre D Back-Office > Maitre D Back-Office and log in. 3. Click the icon in the upper left corner to access the Point of Sale Control menu. 4. In the top menu bar, click Workstation and Options.

5 5. Highlight the workstation to be configured and click the Modify button. 6. Click Printers in the left menu bar. Each station can be assigned the same or different network printers. Click the icon next to the Appetizer field.

6 7. Click the Add button. 8. Enter a unique name for the printer.

7 9. Place a check in the box next to Network. Then, click the Modify button. 10. Enter the TSP100LAN s virtual IP address found on the print out from the Check Health test. Enter 9100 for the Port Number. Change the Printer Type to SP300 Star Cutter. Then, click the OK button in the lower left hand corner.

8 11. Click the drop down box next to Printout and set it to the TSP100LAN. Assigning a replacement printer is covered starting on page 10 of this document. Click the OK button in the lower left hand corner. 12. Click the Close button in the lower right hand corner.

9 13. Click the drop down box next to the desired kitchen stations and assign the TSP100LAN. 14. Click the Apply button and then the OK button in the lower right hand corner. 15. Click the Close button in the lower right hand corner. Congratulations! You have successfully set up the TSP100LAN to print kitchen tickets from Maitre D. 10 Assigning a Back Up Kitchen Printer Multiple kitchen printers can be set up in Maitre D to service different stations. It is recommended to configure each printer on a different terminal as a failsafe in the event one terminal goes down. Reference this chart: This infrastructure allows the integrator to use the TSP100LAN utility for assigning Virtual TCP/IP Ports for each TSP100LAN kitchen printer. On each terminal, install the TSP100LAN and its Configuration Utility, assign a static IP address to the printer, and then create a Virtual TCP/IP for the printer. 1. Decide which stations to install the TSP100LAN and its Configuration Utility on. If three TSP100LAN printers are being used in the kitchen, three different terminals are necessary. Follow the instructions in the TSP100LAN Configuration and Maitre D Configuration sections of this application note for each terminal.

11 2. To assign a back up printer as a failsafe, open the POS Workstation Screen and go to the Printers section. Click the icon next to the Appetizer field; this will display all network printers that have been set up. 3. Highlight the kitchen printer you wish to set a back up for and click the Modify button.

12 4. Click the drop down box next to Replacement and select the back up printer. Then click the OK button. 5. Click the Close button in the lower right hand corner. 6. Click the Apply button in the lower right hand corner to save configuration. Congratulations! You have successfully assigned a back up kitchen printer. Should the terminal driving Kitchen_Printer_A go down, Kitchen_Printer_B will now print all kitchen orders sent to A.
