2 Introduction We are delighted that you have chosen a Suzuki as your new vehicle and are confident that it will give you a great deal of enjoyable motoring. The Suzuki Motor Corporation has factories in many parts of the world and has over 100 years experience in a wide range of motor vehicle and engineering technologies. Suzuki uses the finest modern materials, up)to)date technology and computer controlled engineering processes to produce vehicles which combine performance and economy with ease of use, whilst minimising their impact on the environment. Through your Suzuki Dealer/Authorised Repairer, you can receive the support of the Suzuki Family and the many services that our network will have to offer you. Owner Pack When you took delivery of your vehicle, your Dealer/Authorised Repairer will have supplied you with an owner pack consisting of: _ Owner s Manual _ 2 sets of ignition/door lock keys _ A signed copy of the Pre)Delivery Inspection and Handover check sheet _ This Suzuki Warranty and Service Record Booklet _ Suzuki Assistance Booklet If you have not received all of these, please ask your Dealer/Authorised Repairer for them. Your Dealer/Authorised Repairer will have registered the owner details via a system called A.F.R.L this is applicable to new and first registrations only. Should the vehicle be re)sold the future owner should contact their local Suzuki Dealer/Authorised Repairer who will amend the ownership details. Service Payment Plan Whether you have just purchased your Suzuki or owned it for some time, a Service Payment Plan will fix the prices of parts and labour safeguarding you against inflationary increases and spreads the cost of servicing. For more information contact your local Dealer/Authorised Repairer or visit REMEMBER: It is absolutely essential that you thoroughly read and understand the owner s manual and other documentation before driving your new Suzuki. 2

3 Quality & Maintenance Quality Control Your Suzuki vehicle was manufactured under an internationally recognised system of continuous inspection to ensure that it was in the best possible condition when it left the assembly plant. The final stage in this quality control system was completed by your Suzuki Dealer/Authorised Repairer who carried out a Pre)Delivery Inspection before you took delivery. This check is carried out to ensure that your vehicle is in first class condition and also to remove any protective materials that were applied in the plant to preserve its appearance. You can maintain this high quality by having your vehicle serviced at the recommended intervals by any Suzuki Dealer/Authorised Repairer. Maintenance Schedules In the Inspection and Maintenance section of your Owner s Manual you will find full details of Suzuki s recommendations for your particular vehicle. These schedules should be followed to ensure that your vehicle performs to its optimum. Your Owner s Manual contains further important information concerning general maintenance, seasonal settings and off road driving procedures. If you are in any doubt on any of the details within the Owner s Manual, your Suzuki Dealer/Authorised Repairer will be happy to advise you. You may, at some point, need to replace a part on your vehicle. If this happens, we strongly recommend that you use genuine Suzuki parts. They are engineered to precise and exacting product quality standards. Using Suzuki Genuine Parts will also ensure your safety is not compromised when you need it the most. Suzuki qualified Aftersales personnel have the latest tools and equipment at their disposal to ensure they obtain the right part for the job, and that it will be fitted correctly. 3

4 Warranty and the Suzuki Network As the owner of a Suzuki product, it would be beneficial if you contacted a Suzuki Dealer/Authorised Repairer in the unlikely event of any difficulties. They will be familiar with the history of your vehicle and be able to give you the best possible service. Should you not be able to visit your local Dealer/Authorised Repairer, any within our network can be used. Please be sure however that you can produce this booklet as evidence of your entitlement to Warranty, together with any relevant details of your vehicle. Throughout Europe there are many Suzuki Dealers/Authorised Repairers. Any of these who service your particular type of vehicle may carry out Warranty repairs. However due to the differing specifications within Europe, such a repair may take longer than normal. Occasionally it may be necessary for you to meet the costs of such repairs (you may not for example have this booklet with you showing your entitlement to Warranty). In this case you should retain all invoices showing that the work was performed. Ask the garage to describe clearly what the problem was and to identify, by part number, what parts, if any, have been replaced. On returning home your Suzuki Dealer/Authorised Repairer will raise the matter with us to determine what assistance you are entitled to. 5 New Vehicle Warranty Statement Suzuki GB PLC warrants that your new Suzuki vehicle has been produced in accordance with the manufacturer s highest standards and has been inspected before delivery to you. We therefore assure you that in the unlikely event of any part of the vehicle becoming defective due to faulty materials or manufacturing within the Warranty period, the part will be repaired or replaced by an Suzuki Dealer/Authorised Repairer with no charge for parts and/or labour. The Warranty period extends for a period of 36 months or 60,000 miles (100,000 km), whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle is first put into service or is first registered, whichever is the earliest, the warranty starting date is shown in section Vehicle Details Important Notice The only conditions or exceptions to this Warranty are: The vehicle must have been operated in accordance with the instructions in the Owner s Manual and must have been serviced as recommended by the vehicle manufacturer in the Owner s Manual. THE WARRANTY PERIOD FOR THE FOLLOWING ITEMS IS FOR ONLY 12 MONTHS OR 12,000 MILES (20,000 KM), WHICHEVER COMES FIRST: Surface corrosion on other than body panels caused from defective materials or workmanship. The vehicle must not have been neglected, misused, overloaded, modified or used for racing or rallying. This Warranty does not apply to parts not supplied by Suzuki or to defects arising from the fitment of parts not made or approved by Suzuki. The normal deterioration of consumable parts, such as tyres and friction materials etc., and the routine replacement of service parts, such as filter and spark plugs etc are not covered by this Warranty. Your attention is drawn to your statutory rights as detailed on page 10 of this booklet. 5

6 New Vehicle Bodywork Warranty Statement Suzuki GB PLC assures you that if any of the original body panels of your vehicle are perforated by corrosion (from inside to out) within 6 or 12 years according to your vehicles coverage (see Vehicle Details section) from the vehicle first being put into service or first registered (whichever is the earliest), the part will be repaired or replaced by any Suzuki Dealer/Authorised Repairer with no charge for parts and/or labour. Important Notice The only conditions or exceptions to this Warranty are: Bodywork warranty inspections must have been carried out as recommended by the vehicle manufacturer and at the following intervals: 1 st inspection months after warranty starting date 2 nd inspection months after warranty starting date 3 rd inspection months after warranty starting date 4 th inspection months after warranty starting date 5 th inspection months after warranty starting date Additional inspections for vehicles with 12)year Bodywork Warranty: 6 th inspection months after warranty starting date 7 th inspection months after warranty starting date 8 th inspection months after warranty starting date 9 th inspection months after warranty starting date 10 th inspection months after warranty starting date 11 th inspection months after warranty starting date The inspection and the repair of damage found as a result of inspection must be at the customer s expense. The appropriate inspection record must be stamped by the inspecting Service Workshop. All routine bodywork maintenance and care to prevent corrosion as outlined in the Owner s Manual must have been properly carried out. Any corrosion other than perforation corrosion is not covered by this warranty. Perforation corrosion of the exhaust system or its components is not covered by this warranty. Perforation corrosion resulting from damage, however caused, or from any modification to the bodywork is not covered by this warranty. Any Perforation corrosion must be brought to the attention of a Suzuki Dealer/Authorised Repairer as soon as it appears. Any repairs to the bodywork must be completed in a proper way, using materials and procedures laid down by Suzuki. Perforation corrosion caused by modification or by use of parts not made or approved by Suzuki is not covered by this warranty. Perforation corrosion resulting from misuse or abuse of the vehicle or from immersion in water is not covered by this warranty. Your attention is drawn to your statutory rights as detailed on page 10 of this booklet 6

7 The Suzuki Maintenance Plan The Suzuki Maintenance Plan is designed to enable you to ensure that your vehicle is maintained in the best possible mechanical condition by being regularly serviced at the recommended intervals. Suzuki recommends that you service your car once a year or every 9,000 miles whichever comes first). Your Owner s Manual contains a section detailing the frequency and content of the Suzuki recommended maintenance services. The latter part of your booklet consists of a number of pages containing a record of these services. They should be stamped by Suzuki Dealer/Authorised Repairers on completion of each service. Proper maintenance is vital for your safety, for your vehicle s long life and to ensure that you retain the benefits of the warranty offered. Do not ignore this important area. Daily Inspection In conjunction with the Periodic Maintenance Schedule detailed in your Owner s Manual, you should carry out a daily inspection to ensure that your vehicle is always fit for the road. In this way you can also identify possible faults and have them rectified before they become a problem or cause a breakdown. This inspection is fully explained in your Owner s Manual. CAUTION If you discover any faults during your daily inspection, or during driving, please get them rectified immediately at the nearest Suzuki Dealer/Authorised Repairer. It may affect your safety. Service Workshop Please ensure that the appropriate Record page (in your service booklet) is validated by the servicing workshop. 7

8 Genuine Parts Warranty The following Warranty details apply to Suzuki Genuine Parts purchased through a Suzuki Dealer/Authorised Repairer: A) Period All our genuine parts fitted to vehicles under warranty are covered by a warranty guarantee, for the remainder of the original vehicle warranty of up to 3 years or 60,000 miles. Genuine parts fitted to vehicles outside of warranty are covered by a 12 month warranty. B) Proof of Purchase Proof of Purchase of the part must be presented at the time of claim. C) Competent Fitment When a part has failed in service, reasonable evidence of competent fitment shall be made available at the time of claim. Your attention is drawn to your statutory rights as detailed on page 10 of this booklet. 8

9 Cause for Complaint We sincerely hope that you never have reason to complain about our product, but we do acknowledge that occasions might arise when, for one reason or another, you are not fully satisfied. If this situation should arise we suggest the following will assist in getting the matter resolved as quickly as possible. Please always keep in mind that almost inevitably your Suzuki Dealer/Authorised Repairer will be involved in the final solution of your problem, so it is important to keep them informed throughout. Your Suzuki Dealer/Authorised Repairer is willing and able to look after you and your vehicle. If there is some matter which concerns you about the Dealership you should always ask to speak to the Dealer Principal or General Manager. Please try to explain the cause of your concern as precisely as possible. We are sure that most matters will be resolved in a perfectly satisfactory and amicable manner in this way. If the situation cannot be resolved by this means then please customerservices@suzuki.co.uk or write to: Suzuki Customer Services, Steinbeck Crescent, Snelshall West, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, MK4 4AE or call free phone (mobile charges apply) giving us full and precise details of your vehicle, its history including all services, repairs, accidents etc. and an outline of the nature of your concern. We will do our best to get the matter resolved as speedily as possible. Suzuki and its Suzuki Dealer/Authorised Repairer subscribe to the Code of Practice for the Motor Industry which was drawn up jointly by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), The Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMIF) and the Scottish Motor Trade Association (SMTA), in consultation with the Director General of Fair Trading. The Code sets out standards which cover the conduct of manufacturers and Suzuki Dealer/Authorised Repairer in the supply of new and used vehicles, servicing, repairs, spare parts, accessories and petrol to consumers. The Code also includes an arbitration service for resolving complaints. Your Suzuki Dealer/Authorised Repairer will be pleased to show you a copy of the Code. 9

10 Statutory Rights THE WARRANTIES CONTAINED IN THIS BOOKLET ARE IN ADDITION TO, AND DO NOT DETRACT FROM OR AFFECT YOUR STATUTORY RIGHTS AS A CONSUMER UNDER UK LAW GOVERNING THE SALE OF CONSUMER GOODS, WHICH ARE A MATTER BETWEEN YOU (THE VEHICLE OWNER) AND THE DEALER FROM WHOM YOUR SUZUKI VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED.
