I have recently issued a new passport as my old passport was about to expire, how shall I amend the passport number? * Jo Naylor: You will be able to amend the passport number in your CAS application. 3. MarianaCorrea: Hello, Does the CAS include information about university scholarships if I get one? * Jo Naylor: Scholarships will appear on your CAS automatically except Departmental Scholarships. If you receive a Departmental Scholarship please send a copy of the Scholarship Letter to pbsapply@sheffield.ac.uk. 5. M.Nasser: thanks for the presentation. it really has answers for my questions / was so helpful. * Jo Naylor: Thank you 6. sinja novosel: According to university accommodation site,you can only get assigned residence once meet Visa requirements but then are we supposed to pay deposit first even though not technically assigned a room? * Jane Ashcroft: Hi Sinja - please can you send your accommodation question to accommodation@sheffield.ac.uk - they should be able to help you. 7. Pritika: Hello, Claire and Jane! I had an issue with my application process because of which I was exempt from my tuition fee deposit. I do not have any sponsorship. How would the CAS application process differ for me? * Jo Naylor: If the exemption has been applied to your record then the CAS application will become available to you without having to make payment. 8. Arush Wadhwa: How are international applicants supposed to pay the fee? Do I have to have a local bank account or could my parents pay directly? * Jo Naylor: The best way is to pay via the University online payment system. Details will be in your offer letter. This is much quicker than by bank transfer. 9. Ka Sen Low: i accepted an unconditional offer but how do i know whether i have received the uni's confirmation? * Jo Naylor: So long as you have accepted the offer then this will show in the online application system. 10. SORA KANG: Hello, If I have a question about pre-sessional English Courses, then I have to take part in next webchats? * Claire Prendergast: It would be better to ask questions about pre-sessional courses either at the next webchat, or you could the ELTC directly at eltc@sheffield.ac.uk, if you have a specific question. 11. Sonia Beygi 2: As I am trying to fulfil the condition of the place offer, when is the deadline to confirm

2 the registration? * Jo Naylor: There is no deadline as such but you must make sure you have sufficient time to obtain your visa and travel to the UK for the start of your course. 12. Nika Khoshaein: Thany you for the presentation. I have booked IELTS test on 28th of May, and I will recieve the results 2 weeks later, My IELTS grade is my condidtion to gain an unconditional offer. I was wondering if that would be very late to sart CAS application? * Claire Prendergast: No, that is fine. We have many students in similar situations. Just follow Jo's advice and prepare as much as possible, while you wait for your IELTS result. 13. (Deleted) MarianaCorrea: I meant the CAS Statement * Jane Ashcroft: Scholarships do appear - Country, Sibling Alumni with the exception of departmental scholarships - in which you will need to pbsapply@sheffield.ac.uk 14. Sri Sam: I have been offered a non accredited masters and am entitled for an accredited masters instead. The university have advised me to accept my current offer and proceed to get my CAS along with Visa. Only in September when I arrive in Sheffield will they do the necessary to transfer me to my accredited course. Is this the right procedure for my CAS? * Jo Naylor: Sri please could you pbsapply@sheffield.ac.uk about this and provide your applicant number so that I can respond. 15. (Deleted) Buket (Adiyaman): could you please say more about ATAS? * Jane Ashcroft: Hi Buket - please send your specific question to shefapply@sheffield.ac.uk - we appreciate we mentioned ATAS in this presentation but questions today are just being answered on Applying for CAS. 16. sinja novosel 2: for the CAS,how much of the residence deposit are we supposed to pay if not going to get assigned a room by University unless meet Visa requirements. * Jo Naylor: We cannot answer this question in this session. Please refer to the weblink relating to Applying for a Tier 4 visa outside the UK. 17. Nika Khoshaein: What about country-specfic scholarships? would that appear on CAS statement? * Jane Ashcroft: Dear Nika - yes country specific scholarships do appear on your CAS statement 18. MarianaCorrea: Thanks. But what are the departmental scholarships? * Jo Naylor: These are awarded by Departments. You will need to contact your Department to enquire about whether there are any available. 19. Noor Al Zakwani: I have got a conditional offer, should I accept the offer now? Or first I have to meet the condition (IELTS score) and then accept the offer? when I will get an unconditional offer? * Jo Naylor: You can accept the offer now and then once you have met the condition your offer will be upgraded to unconditional. 20. Ka Sen Low: I accepted the unconditional offer on the 3rd of may, when will i receive any notification regarding the tuition deposits? * Jo Naylor: If you are applying for a Master degree it will be on your offer letter. 21. Hazimah: Hello. For international student, do we need to provide proof of 'ability to support ourself' (financially) to apply for CAS? * Jo Naylor: Not to apply for the CAS, only for your visa application. 22. sinja novosel: is it okay if we get scholarship results after the CAS is released? * Jo Naylor: Yes, we can add University of Sheffield scholarship details afterwards - so long as you have not used your CAS to apply for your visa. If you have used your CAS then you would need to provide your scholarship letter as evidence with your visa application.

Thanks. * Jo Naylor: Yes, the process has changed since 2 years ago. 26. Jesmine: For A-levels students who will only receive the final result in August, when will be the expected date that they will get the CAS? * Jo Naylor: Please do not worry. We make sure that we deal with CAS for A Level students as quickly as possible after results day. This is the same every year. 27. MarianaCorrea: Thanks. Anesia Noviliza: Hi Jo, I just want to make sure, because i have provided my IELTS score to the University, which is not UKVI Ielts, i dont need to take another IELTS test, right? * Jo Naylor: The University accepts non-ukvi IELTS - so long as it meets the conditions for your course you do not need to take another test. 33. Adeel Alam Khan: I've reveived an unconditional offer of a place. my question is that, at the time of visa application IELTS required or not because I am exempt from english language test requirement at the time of my postgraduate application as I have completed my 1st Masters degree from UK. * Jo Naylor: It may be that your Masters degree in the UK was used for your English language. If this is the case then you will not need any other qualification. You can check by sending an to shefapply@sheffield.ac.uk 35. sinja novosel: how soon after getting our CAS number can we apply for the Visa or should we wait for scholarship results before applying for Visa? * Jo Naylor: It will depend whether you need your scholarship for the visa application - if so you will need

What is the best way to send IELTS results to the University to make the offer unconditional? * Jo Naylor: The best way is to upload a copy of your IELTS certificate to your online application form under the English Language section if you are a postgraduate applicant. If undergraduate then you will be sent details how to upload this. 38. ABHINAV 2: i still have not recived an offer letter from the university, but have recived an mail stating that i could attend the Q&A session, Would like to know when will the university get back to me reguarding to the offer letter? * Jane Ashcroft: Dear Abhinav - please check your application status online. 41. Pritika: Will I have to mention any internships through the Postgraduate Advantage Scheme under Work Placement during the CAS application process or will that only be handled after I get there? * Jo Naylor: This will depend on your course and what you are doing. Many are dealt with after students arrive at the University. 42. M.Nasser: the service of payment via Western Union for business solutions for students is not active in Egypt and when i have been to my local bank i couldnt see Sheffield on the system /// and payment by credit card have a limit for the daily transaction which is 2000$ only per day... my question is: could i transfer the fees in my local currency instead of Sterling pounds as a bank transfer, due to the money exchange limitations in Egypt? * Jo Naylor: I am sorry but I cannot answer this.
