6 Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur)
7 Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) 2000 places for institutions across the UK to endorse graduates who have been selected as having developed genuine and credible business ideas and entrepreneurial skills
8 Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) Endorsements are allocated by the Home Office in April every year LSE has been allocated 15 endorsements for the period April 2014 April 2015 Possibility of further endorsements in the Michaelmas term Competitive selection process for LSE students
9 Conditions of the scheme Leave is initially granted for 12 months Depending on progress, may apply to extend for further 12 months Must attend meetings at LSE four times a year Can switch into other immigration categories if meet the requirements (e.g. Tier 1 Entrepreneur / Tier 2)
10 Conditions of the scheme - Employment Whilst application is pending, Tier 4 restrictions apply However, can start business and be selfemployed while application is pending if: o Tier 1 (GE) application submitted in-time and o You applied for your Tier 4 leave on or after 13 December 2012 Otherwise wait until Tier 1 (GE) leave is granted before starting business
11 Conditions of the scheme - Employment As well as working on your business, you can also take other employment: Number of hours are not restricted, but Must not work as a: o Doctor or Dentist in training o a professional sportsperson / sports coach
12 Who is eligible to apply? Undergraduate / Postgraduate degree students who have been awarded a UK recognised degree Can apply from inside the UK or outside the UK Applicants in the UK you must have: Tier 4 (General) Student visa; or Student visa (issued before March 2009)
13 Sponsored students If you have been wholly sponsored (full tuition fees and living costs) by a government or an international scholarship agency in the last 12 months, you must show evidence that you have their unconditional consent to remain in the UK to set up your business
14 Who can t apply If you have ever spent time in the UK under previous post study work schemes: Tier 1 (Post Study Work) Fresh Talent International Graduates Scheme Science and Engineering Graduates Scheme and/or if you have obtained a certificate or diploma (not a degree)
15 How to apply Successfully complete your degree programme at LSE Obtain endorsement letter from LSE Apply within three months of receiving endorsement letter from LSE and before following April (when endorsements expire) Meet financial requirements
16 Financial requirements 945 (applications in the UK) 1890 (applications outside the UK) in an account that is acceptable to the Home Office held for 90 consecutive days, ending no more than 31 days before date of application account/joint account in your name (not parent s name) full details in Tier 1 (GE) Policy Guidance
